My partner and I have just returned home afther 12 days. The hotel was great. The price reflects the 3 star rating which we knew. The rooms are large, a little dated. The beds are comfy enough. The showers are great. The kitchenette ok. We never used as eaten out. We only used the sky bar and pool once, the food was lovely. We are beach lover's. Breakfast was wonderful. Enough choice and delicious. The staff were very nice and helpful. Location is great. To us this was a crash pad hotel which we knew. Overall I would stay again as the price is great. If your looking for something more upmarket this ain't the place for you. Thank you Hotel Luna for a lovely holiday 😘

My husband and I stayed in a superior double for 5 nights as a cheap green list escape. The rooms are well equipped but are quite dated, the hotel didn’t seem to be at full occupancy so we slept very well. Our room was on the 3rd floor and luckily didn’t overlook the main road but our view was of the crane and some ugly apartment blocks straight across. We didn’t spend much time in the room so this wasn’t an issue for us personally. The rooftop pool is adults only until 6pm and has great views and has a nice ambience until the loud, annoying music comes on. There are also quite a lot of large groups of locals pay for day passes and can be quite rowdy at times and crowd the small pools. The sun lounger reserving was very annoying, you can reserve sun loungers in advance at reception, but this was fully booked in the week that we were there. There are usually a few spare loungers available facing the church, but I advise you get there before 10am. After 11pm you can remove the reserved tickets if they have not been claimed. Staff at the pool bar seemed quite grumpy, the prices seemed quite odd as it was €4.40 for draft beer or €3.40 for gin and tonic. The hotel is well located for the beach and a few restaurants, however most of the bars and restaurants are located in town which is a good 20 minute walk up the large hill and past the church. There is a bus which is €2pp per trip or €21pp for a week pass, however this often went straight past in peak times. It is a short walk to the beach, but most of the area is concrete and unattractive, local shops leave bin bags in the street for days and the area was generally unappealing, the town seemed much nicer. I would recommend booking restaurants in advance as most will turn you away without a booking. You can use ‘open table’ to book a few nearby restaurants. The food is very expensive and mostly average compared to other countries. We bought a few food items from local shops, but the hotel market seemed to be best value. The hotel was good value, however if I was to return to Malta, I would probably stay somewhere else on the island.

I took my parents to stay 7 nights in Malta and following good reviews, I thought this would be a nice hotel. Turns out that already checking-in the hotel had only 1 staff to deal with all bookings. Another customer was already complaining and saying that he would not return to that hotel anymore. The first night, we realized our room (Superior Studio) was facing the main road. Although the balcony door being completely shut, the sound coming from the road was so loud that we couldn't sleep at all. I went to the reception and asked if we could be moved to a different room. The answer was that they were full and could do nothing. I even said, if you don't have today, it can be tomorrow. As long as we can have a good night sleep, we don't mind. But day after day they kept saying they didn't have rooms, although we saw the room in from of us being cleaned out more than once during our stay. It is quite upsetting that we didn't get any support in that matter. The other problem we had with this hotel was that they have a rooftop pool with sun beds around the pool and on the first day I went there I found out that you had to actually book (which was not mentioned while checking in or anywhere in the room). When I went downstairs the next day and spoke to the staff at reception, they informed me that the sun beds needed to be booked on the day you were going to use early in the morning. I did that for a couple of days and so far we had to squeeze to find our beds, as sometimes all beds were tagged with different room numbers. One day we went there after booking our bed, when the receptionist while doing my booking said it was full but she could fit another 3 beds, but it would be better to book the day before. I said that the other receptionist informed me that the booking needed to be done on the same day you were going to use the pool, and she laughed saying no. While saying that she took note of our room number by pen and we took as we had reservations. We got there, all beds had name tags on them, the ones around the pool, being for groups of 6, 8 sun beds. No one was to be found when we got there, which was close to 9 am, so we took the beds close to the pool even though they had name tags, because they were empty. The woman supposed to take care of the bar upstairs and sun beds shouted at us, saying that those sun beds weren't ours, that we needed to "get out" of there. She was the one to put the name tags on the beds and she was rude throughout the process. I said we weren't going to move, first because we had reservations, and second because we were almost the only ones around the pool at the time (another couple was there, which made us feel embarrassed for what was happening). She then went to the bar, shouted over the phone with, who I presume was the manager, and came back to me saying that I needed to go downstairs to talk to the manager and that we needed to move out of those beds. The customer needs to go to the manager to sort out things now? Not the other way round? I said, no. That if the manager wanted to talk to me, they knew where to find me. She then ran to the bar again, shouted all over again, making a scene over something so trivial, that could be sorted in many different ways, and then came back again and said for us to leave. Although embarrassed, I kept strong and said that I could leave when the booked room arrives, not a problem. So far, not a shadow from them. We stayed for a couple of hours until they showed up. She rudely pointed our that we were wrong and that we needed to move, making us feel very embarrassed, as at that moment the pool had more people. She then mentioned that the manager had giving permission to use the VIP sunbeds close to the pool, as there were no other sun beds there. And I mentioned to her that she could have dealt in a different way, she then aggressively shouted that I was the rude one and that we should have moved out long ago. I asked her name a couple of times at the end, but she avoided at all costs to say it. I mean, why?? I paid the hotel, and NO ONE at the time we got at the pool was there from that room party. And guess what? The three beds we were using? WERE EMPTY BY THE TIME WE LEFT THE POOL!!!!! She didn't needed all that shouting and made us feel embarrassed at all. If I ever go to Malta again, I will never go to this hotel ever again. Unfortunately, the good staff that we came across are going to end up not being enough to make us go back there as the bad experience we had was enough for us to never step our feet ever again in this horrible hotel again.

Currently staying in room 3204 and can highly recommend this hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you. The rooftop terrace is amazing and we reserved a table on a couple of nights. There is a firework extravaganza unfortunately the hotel didn't play music to match the amazing display. However the food is definitely the best and the service is second to none. My only recommendation would be to change policy in reserving sundowners as many people do not turn up to their saved bed and it's left all day as reserved. However amazing throughout rooms basic but OK.

The room was bad fridge rusty kettle rusty, door hanging off cupboard, shower so small could not move in it, smell in bathroom, asked to move rooms but Marie was rude and needed some customer service training, she does not know how to talk to guests. The rooftop pool was full could not get near, they let outside people come in so not good and downstairs pool freezing the only good thing was the food and other staff.and the beach area was good.
