As a resort goes across from the beach the location is excellent. We stayed 7 nights and had a good time. The bar the facilities were just fine. The only negative I have is the buffet. After 3 days, breakfast lunch and dinner always the same. I got bored very quickly. A few other points, they do not allow you to fill up your water bottles. Hey we are there for a soccer tournament. We need water. Not allowed to leave the buffet area with fruits or anything else. Man we were served so much better in Salou Spain. Next year will be a different hotel all together. I don’t mind a 5 minute walk to the beach. Overall love Monte Gordo. Nice place the beaches vast and go on for miles.

We arrived very late nearly 1am due to shuttle service dropping others off at their hotel first. As soon as we opened the door to our room a cockroach scuttled past us,not a good start to a holiday! The room was spacious and the sheets were clean but the bed was rock hard and very uncomfortable. The view was of a camp site and parking area not very scenic really! When another cockroach scuttled around our room a few days later i complained and we were moved to another room but NO apology or recompense. The food was average really, plastic chewy bacon and tasteless eggs for breakfast. My daughter had the pork chop for the evening meal and she could not eat it as it was very tough and she was unable to cut it up.I suppose you could sole your shoes with it if necessary. Most of the staff seemed unhelpful and indifferent towards the hotel guests and i would NOT recommend this hotel. This hotel not only needs a complete refurbishment it needs staff training on how to make guests feel welcome. It probably needs fumigating too if the cockroaches are anything to go by.

The reception staff were curt and miserable, the breakfast inedible, the gym was very dated with no air con. Large groups frequent the hotel check before booking. Definitely NOT a 4 star hotel, the bar and bar staff were exceptional thank goodness this felt like you were residents of a hotel and not a youth hostel. Chatted with people we met in the bar and they were also disappointed with the food, at both breakfast and evening meals were of poor quality.

The hotel is certainly in need of renovation. At first glance, it is much like a standard beach hotel that is showing its wear a bit, but it goes beyond that. There is an odor that drifts through the hallways, and some rooms have it, too. It is a noticeable smell that comes from the toilet or other drains anytime the toilet is flushed making it quite disgusting. The beds are uncomfortable and saggy. The sages in the rooms do not have locks, so they are useless. Many in the reviews complained about the food, but that was the one thing in the hotel our group enjoyed. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets have large selections, and the food was very good.

We stayed here for 20days in May 2019 in a junior suite. The view from our 2nd floor balcony wasn't particularly nice as we overlooked a roof with multiple air conditioning units. The decor in the room was dated and there were no facilities to make tea or coffee. The food in the restaurant was ok but not great. The reception staff were not particularly friendly. The pool is not heated so it was cold but I presume that it gets warmer in the summer months! It's quite close to the beautiful, well kept beach. You can get a taxi for €7 to Vila Real de Santo Antonio, which is lovely, where you can get a ferry across to Ayamonte in Spain for only €1,90 each way. We are returning next year but have chosen a sea view for our next stay.
