Stayed here to "do" the Flam railway. So glad we did, rather than staying in Flam. Arrived from Myrdal and easy walk up to hotel. Warm welcome. Room was a good size, clean and functional. Great views from window. Hotel has lovely sitting areas. Evening meal was excellent with a choice of meat and fish dish, served buffet style. Breakfast...

Spent a night here before getting the train to Oslo. Simple but comfortable rooms, v friendly staff, lovely communal sitting areas, options for walks in the area. The hotel is close to the train platform and one stop and just five minutes from Myrdal station where the Bergen-Oslo trains go from. Would be nice if they offered small al a...

My stay at Vatnahalsen Hoyfjellshotell was one of the highlights of my trip--hygge at its best! I arrived by train. The walk up to the hotel was short, but through snow with no path and with luggage was a challenge. The view as soon as I stepped off the train was enchanting. Reception was welcoming and friendly. Checked in and...

I didn't actually manage to stay here because I misjudged what 1.3 km by foot, on the mountain, in mid April, meant. Thankfully they warned me just in time, before I get off the train and find myself trying to carry my luggage in half a meter of snow, downhill! I cannot be more grateful to the hotel people who...

Just back from our third trip to Vatnahalsen. This is easily one of the best hotels we have experienced. Well led by Janet, friendly staff, great food with good awareness of allergies. A warm environment with wonderful waffles in the afternoon. I really find it hard to think of any fault to mention. Our room had plenty of space and...

Our time at the Vatnahalsen was truly one of the highlights of our trip throughout Scandinavia last summer. The mystique of only being able to access the hotel via train is cool enough in itself. The views from the porch and the friendliness of the staff made our experience even more magnificent. The food for dinner is served buffet style...

We stayed overnight, on our train journey from Bergen to Oslo. Our 10 year old daughter & 13 year old son absolutely loved the whole trip. We were a little bit concerned because the location was is remote and is only accessible by train. But the NSB trains are great and all ran to time. The hotel setting is beautiful,...

We were on the Norway in a Nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo and had a 2 hour wait for the train to Oslo that we initially though we'd have to spend in the deserted Myrdal train station. My girlfriend (now fiance) visited this amazing hotel on midsummer in June 2016. We were taking the Norway in a Nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo and spent one night here.
