Hotel is accessed via an unmade road but this is ok even in a sports car. On the ski slope the hotel is very peaceful with great views. The half board option was great value with good quality local dishes. The owners were most welcoming and ensured we enjoyed our stay. The room was large and bright and finished to a high standard. Would stay again.

I booked this hotel on booking.com The price was really reasonable and on the offer it said I could upgrade to get dinner for a small extra charge. All reviews of the hotel said that this was great. So I booked and arrived just before 6pm. When I enquired about the upgrade, I was told I was too late. I explained that I had booked due to the offer and I was told I can book a la carte. The a la carte is much higher in price. Also as the hotel is in the back of beyond, 10-15 minute drive up a severe incline from the town, they haven't left me with much choice. The hotel is located in a nice place. Wonderful views and my room is perfectly nice and clean. The initial welcome into the hotel was unfriendly and then this was continued with a don't care attitude. Extremely disappointed in being missold. Double checked text on booking.com and it definitely says you can upgrade and doesn't give any conditions. How requesting this upgrade before 6pm is too late, I have no idea.

Went for lunch, service was poor, food average and long wait to pay, the staff all loked tired of people and a smile would of been great! Good location but next time I would try the other hut in the woods just down the hill ( by the tower/ mast)

Please do not miss out on this experience. I wanted a hotel that was not in town, and that was in the mountains. This hotel was indeed in the mountains right in the midst of a ski run with absolutely beautiful views of the mountains and valley, and is surrounded by hiking trails, and a lovely pond. We arrived late in the afternoon and wished we had come earlier in the day so that we would have had more time to enjoy the surroundings. Actually, we wished we could have stayed for several more days. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a room with a balcony which looked out onto the mountain- spectacular. The room was very large and modern with a large bathroom as well. I also highly recommend the half board option- we had a 5 course dinner that was magnificent and very filling. She asked me if I wanted half portions and thankfully I said yes, because I was still overly full. Very good breakfast as well- woke up and had a great hike through the forest and fields. Idyllic. My husband just said today that out of our 3 week trip through Europe this was one of his favorite stops. We will stay longer next time.

I feel guilty having taken so long to write this review. My sister-in- law, her husband, & I made a trip to Austria in Sep 2013. We drove to Lienz via the Grossglockner road & had chosen Moos-Alm based on Tripadvisor reviews. We followed the GPS guidance & were somewhat taken aback when the road up to the hotel (unpaved!) was barred by an electronically controlled gate. I thought "uh-oh!" We met a young couple walking down the road, explained our situation in a combination of bad German, broken English, & sign language. They used their cells, called the hotel, & the gate went up--ta da. Anyway, the upshot of all this is don't be fooled by initial impressions! This is a great small inn located 1 1/2 miles above Bruck Castle in Lienz. It could not be cleaner, the proprietors could not be nicer, the food could not be better, and the views of the Dolomites are incredible. Unless you are young and want an in town party atmosphere, stay here!
