#3 of 23 B&Bs / Inns in Arcos de la Frontera
Situated in the top of a hill, is Arcos de la Frontera, one of the most beautiful white towns in Andalusia, and host of La Casa de Bovedas, a charming small inn, recently restored. The historical heritage of this village, with its Arab medieval castle and whitewashed houses laid across narrow, winding streets, surrounds this lovely hotel, decorated in the typical Andalusia style. Thick, white plaster walls, wrought iron windows, colourful tiles, arches, and bright colours details, enhance the bedrooms, also equipped with modern amenities. From the open air terrace, guests can admire the stunning terrain of steep hills and deep valleys which rises in front. 2 suite rooms and 3 double rooms.

We enjoyed two nights at this lovely inn. I loved coming back from dinner and there were candles lite throughout the many common areas and patio. The breakfast was hearty and healthy. The picture below is the beautiful view from my table at breakfast. The room had many special features (see picture of the arched ceiling around bed). The service was excellent. Highly recommend!

We stayed for 3 nights earlier this month. Unfortunately we missed our flight connection in Madrid, so didn't arrive until Midnight, but we still received a warm welcome and were checked in quickly. Our room was a delight - we chose a Triple room, because we knew it had a view over the lake. It was lovely, full of traditional local decoration, artwork, interesting books and it had real character. The 3rd bed is in a separate section of the room and we used that area for storage of our luggage. There is plenty of wardrobe and drawer space though. The little bathroom was lovely with a little window opening out with a view to the lake. The main bedroom also had the same view. There was also a small terrace area where guests can sit and enjoy the view, whilst having a drink from the selection provided in the Honesty Bar, downstairs - great idea. The bed was comfortable but we didn't sleep particularly well as the curtains let in light and the local people are up early and noise carries very easily, maybe take an eye mask and ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Breakfast in the little garden courtyard was absolutely lovely. A plate of various fresh fruits, yoghurts, warmed breads and croissants, fresh orange juice and freshly made coffee - perfect. The family members were friendly and helpful but also polite and gave guests free access to the house, They recommended a couple of places to eat and we followed the recommendation and were very happy. A hair dryer and a nice selection of toiletries were provided. We took our own kettle and made a cup of coffee occasionally but coffee and tea were available via the Honesty Bar. There is a little general shop next door but it didn't seem to open at all at the weekend. The house is located in one of the very narrow streets in the old part of Arcos. We parked at Plaza de Espana underground car park in the centre of the main town, It costs 15 E per day, but this was reduced to 10 E on showing proof of a reservation at the hotel. When we arrived, we took a taxi to the house (which Remie ordered for us) as it was very late at night, we didn't know where to go and we had a lot of luggage (about 6 euros I seem to remember). It is actually only about a 15-20 minute walk. When we left, we did actually carefully drive the little hire car through the town, so that we could pick up the cases. Great place to stay in a lovely area - all felt very authentic and not a tourist trap.

Dear Jackie; Thank you very much for such a lovely and detailed review !!! I am very happy that you have enjoyed it! It is very important for us that guests write so that travelers have all the possible information before they come. Many people do not know that white villages have narrow streets and parking is difficult ... but precisely this is the charm of these small towns .... We hope to see you soon enjoying our house! We wish you many and very good trips for you!

We arrived at Casa de Bovidas to a warm welcome by our host Remi. After giving us information on the town and recommending where to eat we were shown to our room but were also offered an upgrade as they had had a cancelation. Although the first room was beautiful the second was stunning! We took the upgrade and were not disappointed. The whole house is quirky and full of interesting objects and beautiful art. We enjoyed magnificent views, even from the bath! Breakfast wast served in a stunning courtyard and although not included in the price was only seven euros eat h and well worth it. Arcos is itself is beautiful and well worth a visit. If we are traveling in this area again, this is where we will head to.

We were greeted warmly by our Host, Ana. Lovely traditional style house, very quaint, decor is a rustic-artsy style. Guests have access to several comfortable common areas including a living room, patio and kitchen/dining area. We loved sitting in the living room with a cozy fire in the fireplace, rather than sitting in bedroom in the evening. The heat was on and our room when we arrived; always a welcoming touch that many places don't think of as it takes time for rooms in these old houses to warm up this time of the year (February). Our room opened onto a terrace and we had a gorgeous view of mountains in the distance; we bought some cheese, bread and wine and enjoyed a small lunch on the terrace in the warm winter sun. Breakfast is available for 7€; the food was excellent and well worth it. We parked the car in the underground Parking Garage at Paseo de Andalucia (show them your Hotel receipt and they discount the price when you leave) and walked to the hotel, just the very last part of the walk was uphill. The roads in the old city are extremely narrow in places and we saw lots of cars having trouble maneuvering.
