We booked a small cottage for our first night in Iceland, and were very happy with the choice. The cottages are small but cozy. The beds were not the greatest but comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep (although you won’t manage to darken the room completely during Icelandic summer; just get used to it or bring a sleeping mask). The two shared bathrooms were very tidy and the showers were great. The shared kitchen is very well equipped, modern and super tidy. There are two large fridges: One for private stuff, and one communal one, where many people who spend their last night in Iceland here leave their leftover food that can be used for cooking a meal if you haven’t yet had the chance to go shopping. Overall, we can highly recommend this for 1-3 nights in Iceland,…
We stayed at one of the larger triple bed (twin beds and one sofa bed) cottages. We had a lovely stay. The cottage is comfortable with a generously sized bathroom. Most appealing of all, each cottage has a nice large window staring out into the beautiful Icelandic countryside. Who needs a TV when you've such a lovely view? (To clarify though, there is also a large TV in each cottage.) The location is fantastic, especially if you're planning to stay close to the airport to catch an early morning flight. The cottage is less than 10 mins' drive from the airport (and any car rentals next to the airport). My only minor gripe is that the locking mechanism for the doors are a bit cumbersome, especially in windy conditions.
Overall it was a nice place to stay and a great value. The common kitchen area was nice as well and very clean. Only issue was the weak wifi signal in our cottage. Would stay again and would recommend to others.
We loved the iStay cottages. The room was clean, cozy, but had plenty of space. There was a ton of natural light and the scenery was beautiful. Check in was very easy and it was less than a 10 minute drive to the airport. We will be back!
Very very nice cabins, quiet, modern, immaculate, & convenient. Only downside for couples are twin beds, which would be OK if you could push them together. Beautiful area and super nice common building. The common building has everything you need to make your own meals. Highly recommend.
Overall I liked my stay and the location. However, the only thing that bugged me was that the Wifi in cottage 3 doesn’t work. I emailed about it but no one got back to me. The best thing was that the room had Netflix and was very clean.
Decent cabins, clean, lovely kitchen, nice environment. Overall, we loved our stay at the cottages! However the wifi didn't work and it would be lovely to have at least a couple of glasses/cups and a watercooker in the rooms. We get the concept of the shared kitchen, but it's nice to be able to get a cup of coffee, tea or a glass of water in the evening without having to run to the shared kitchen. Also f.e. if you have to take medication before going to bed and do not have a bottle of water yourself. Also, there was no place to put your clothes... so you have to live out of your suitcase.
Lovely modern cabin, comfy beds, big tv with WiFi, fully equipped kitchen in separate building . Possible bit too small for 4 on a longer trip as nowhere to store clothes but not a problem for us as only used for one evening. Bathroom is very large .
Great place to relax after or before your flight. Self check in is really nice and you have anything you need. We observed an amazing Icelandic welcoming with some northern lights just above cottages. Host very friendly and helpful.
We stayed at one of the ensuite cottages for one night and we really liked it interior of the place, especially the bathroom. There are only a few pieces of furniture and modern touches. The communal kitchen seemed handy too even though we only got in looking for some recycling bins which we never found in the end.
