Accommodation in the westfjords is a little sparse, this hotel or hostel was a great find. Friendly service and staff, awesome breakfast buffet, nice clean rooms and I really liked the restoration job. Very clean blended with older furniture made it very hospitable. Highly recommended!

Ok, First off. When visiting the Western fjords, don't expect anything to be like the Ritz, Hilton or the Ramada Inn. The West fjords don't deal in corporate courtesy and hospitality of the "yes sir", "welcome again sir", "would you like lavender scented soap in your bubble bath sir?" kind. Polite and welcoming for sure, but overly accommodating to the point of roman excess and nausia, no.
Unless you absolutely refuse to be, you're treated like an old friend from day one. And a first name basis is just how they roll in the west fjords.

That being said, the accommodation and service in the Radagerdi Hostel, a beautifully renovated old house in the hills of Patreksfjörður are nothing short of excellent. The friendly staff and everyday good old Iceland demeanor just brings you right down to earth and ready to smell the ocean breeze.

The owners of Radagerdi also are the proprietors of the Pirate house, an excellent culture house full of interesting curiosities, an open library and a pirate school, as well as a well stocked bar and a surprisingly cosmopolitan kitchen. Alda's soups and other specialities have tickled many a pellet and they are also great friends with the Icelandic music scene, bringing loads of amazing acts to play in their groovy smithy-furnace room.

Also, yes! I reccommend the Swimming pool heartily. And if you're up for it, a trip to nearby Tálknafjörður for a dip in "pollurinn" the local free hot tub.

This was more like a hotel than a hostel for us. The hostel is located on a hill with stunning views. It is close to restaurants and the tourist information centre. The breakfast was delicious and filled us up before a big day tour.

The nights before, we slept in hostels and guesthouse on the road from Reykjavik. Then we finally arrived in sweet Patreksfjordur and his Radagerdi Hostel.
Welcomed by two energic and ambitious young people, we felt like at home since the first minutes there. Unfortunately we spent only one night there.
The rooms are bright, clean and beautiful.
Briefly, highly recommended!!!!!

Nicer inside than it looks outside. Room cosy but spotlessly clean and with lovely views across the fjord. Bathroom is shared but again it was spotless and only appeared to be between 2 rooms so no issues using as needed. Breakfast OK but had to go to the kitchen and ask for milk and coffee, and no-one checked if the buffet needed restocking while we were eating. The girl who checked us in on arrival was really helpful and friendly but the other staff we encountered seemed a bit indifferent and not particularly welcoming. Overall would recommend as a budget option if you just need somewhere clean and comfortable to stay.

I love my stay in Patreksfjordur and would recomend this hostel to everyone. The hostel is about halv mile from the harbor and convenient store. The sunset in Patreksfjordur is to die for.

Try the swimming pool - wow what a view. Did I mention the view! :) Im a sucker for nice views.

Room Tip: Ask David (one of the owner) for a room on second floor - with a view. :) Beautiful view.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The host was very kind and friendly, and quite helpfully told us about places in the area to visit. The breakfast was really good quality of food. The beds were comfortable and the shared bathroom was large and nice and clean.

I get the hostel comments on trip advisor, the rooms are small and sparse and some appear to be without private bathroom and look onto the hill behind. Ours had a PB, comfortable bed and was fine. What makes this place are the forward views, mountains, fjord and boats. The young team were very helpful and the breakfast was one of the best in Iceland.

We sadly only stayed one night in this hotel but we loved it right from the start. It has a beautiful view over the harbour. The house itself is old but everything was rennovated a modern scandinavian style. The breakfast had a very good selection. And the staff was super nice.

Very nice hostel, think it is more a hotel with shared bathroom than a hostel. Very clean place, good beds and nicely located.
The breakfast is one of the best we had with plenty of choice (fresh bread, salmon, skyr, muesli, cheese, ham, fruit etc etc) and good refill when done.
Would definitely recommend!
