After a very hectic two weeks visiting Rajasthan, it was wonderful to experience Forsyth Lodge's tranquility and beauty. Close to Satpura National Park the lodge is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting the area. The accommodation is excellent, comfortable and spotlessly clean and the food delicious. One of the highlights culinary-wise was the meal cooked by local... More

We are avid travellers and have visited a lot of forest lodges big and small in India as well as East Africa and South Africa etc. I have to say that Forsyth Lodge wins hands down as one of the best stays ever. The warmth and hospitality of Deepanker and his team, the naturalists who were deeply passionate about this... More

Dear Amita, Thank you so much for your kind words, we are really touched. We had a great time having you all at Forsyth's and really glad that you loved the experience. The 'ghost tree' you all planted is doing quite well and has started growing new leaves after shedding the couple it had while planting. I hope that you... More

Hasten to Forsyth Lodge. Satpura National Park is utterly beautiful, especially the approach across the river. The naturalists led us through this magical landscape, revealing its secrets, showing us wonders. Even without the animals, the forest is enchanting. But we saw so many animals -- sloth bears, gaur, deer, boar, wild dogs, troops of langurs, giant squirrels. And leopards. Watching... More

Dear Susan, Thank you so much for your lovely review, we couldn't have described Satpura better ourselves. It was really amazing to have you and Jeremy here and listening to your stories of the Muntjacs and you home. I wish your stay had been longer. We hope you can visit us again to check on your 'camel-foot' tree. Regards Deepanker More

Forsyth is a lovely lodge and only a short distance from Satpura national park. We were there for a total of four days and got to see the park on foot, by jeep and boat. Each offered a different and unique way to see the jungle. The park is known for its leopards and sloth bears of which we saw... More

I believe the lodge (and therefore management) has changed hands since many of these reviews were written. But rest assured, all the superlatives in earlier reviews still apply. Accommodation in the cottages is comfortable, although I was not in it long enough to take much advantage of my terrace overlooking wild grassland, or my upstairs balcony (let alone sleep up... Forsyth Lodge at the Satpura National Park was pretty much perfect. The lodge is well designed and the facilities are top notch. But the most special part of the stay are the people at Forsyth that made our stay memorable. Dipankar the manager made sure our stay was perfect. Forsyth Lodge is well located, near the entrance to Satpura National Park but away from other habitation, so that there is a real feeling of being in the “wild”. Mick & Chris, Wiltshire , UK We visited Forsyth's for the second time in January 2016. The lodge had changed slightly since our first trip in 2008. Then the rooms were more rustic, decorated by the local villagers in the local style. Now they have been 'modernised' for want of a better word. One thing that hasn't changed is the... More

Visited Forsyth Lodge in February 2016. Excellent service. Very good rooms. The manager Rishi and his wife Manasi take great care of guests. Naturalists are available to accompany guests to the Forest. Well maintained resort. Access is a bit difficult and no public transport available to the resort. Private taxis to reach resort are expensive.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Forsyth's Satpura is a stylish and an environmentally friendly lodge that is engaged with the park management and the local community in a pioneering effort to create an unprecedented jungle experience in one of the most exciting tiger habitats in the world. This is an effort to create an exceptional wilderness experience for those who truly revel in wild places far from the jeep borne hordes that have defaced so many other parks. Here we provide you with an opportunity to explore the jungle on foot, by canoe's, on elephant back, jeeps and motorised boats. You can also experience the nocturnal creatures that the jungles offer by sitting in our machaan which is set in the 45 acres of wilderness around the lodge. We have been ranked 2nd in the recent survey by Conde Nast traveller in the top 30 eco destinations in India and have also been awarded for our outstanding performance by TOFT. ... more   less
