We arrived on Koh Ngai which was a real WOW moment. We then got shown to our room which brought us back to earth with a bump. All i can describe it like was Prisoner Cell Block H. We immeadiately asked & paid for an upgrade to a deluxe room. This had a partial sea view so was much happier. This said the room was very dated and defo in need of some TLC. The cleaning left a lot to be desired too... Positives about the room were good terrace, cieling fan, AC worked without your key. The breakfast was average at best and probably the poorest out of the 4 hotels we stayed at during our Thai trip. We did eat in the restaurant in the evening and the food was really delicious but closed at 9pm which is extremely early. The staff were lovely apart from the odd one (reception girl had a bit of an attitude) but Po who worked in the restaurant deserves a special mention as he was brilliant.

We have been staying on Koh Ngai/ko hai for a few days and found the food here the most affordable and good quality than other resorts. Prices on this island are higher than most so we shopped around and found the restaurant on this resort the best. Don't be put off by the posh exterior this hotel offers food cheaper than any other resorts and the quality is excellent.

I booked 3 nights in a hillside delux room. Room had a huge balcony with partial sea view. Hotel accommodated my special request not to be too far up the hill. Room was big, bed was firm and comfortable, bathroom was large but like others it was all a bit shabby and old. Balcony door did not really close/lock properly. Hotel is very large and very impersonal. Buffet breakfast was expansive although the coffee was horrible (big vat of made up coffee) and the fresh cooked eggs were not fresh as the chef would cook them and leave cooked eggs on plates to get cold for guests to select. Pool was very small, full of children with about 6 deck chairs and no shade. Beach was nice when there was no plague of stinging red jelly fish. One good thing was that the Aircon was not connected to room key so you could leave aircon on during the day. This was necessary as Island was full of Mosquitoes and somehow I got bitten overnight in my room when I never leave windows/doors open, Air con is constantly on and never got one bite on Koh Mook or Koh Lipe. The worst thing about this place are the other guests who take beach towels and reserve beach chairs (for hours before they arrive back) and push in front at the breakfast buffet. I would not go back to either this hotel or Koh Ngai.

We have visited Koh Hai Fantasy Resort and Spa for shorter stays in 2016, 2017, 2019 and now again in 2020 for the fourth time. This time for 29 days in a Hillside Deluxe room no. 991 that we had pre-selected - stunning views from the secluded terrace, lovely large fridge and good beds. We have visited Thailand 13 times, usually 3-4 places/islands, this time only on Koh Ngai, and it has been one of our best and most relaxed vacations ever. At our request (and expense) the resort had acquired a Petanque game and created a course for this. Wi-Fi connections have improved compared to the past, and the password is greatly simplified. Not perfect, but excellent connection even in the room. The children's playground has been moved and expanded to the pleasure of the many children. The place seems to be becoming more and more attractive to families with children - and Danes. Beyond this, there have been no improvements to the site. As other reviews indicate, it is generally a bit dated. The restaurant serves a reasonable breakfast with freshly prepared egg dishes, variety in the noodle and rice dishes, otherwise the same every morning, salad, fruit, toast, pancakes, etc. Kitchen has improved immensely since last year – much better. The prices of the food on the menu card are actually reduced by 17% as prices are now net prices (incl. 10% service and 7% VAT). It is the same menu card as earlier, so prices are not set accordingly. The food is really good, both Thai and European dishes. We had almost all meals at Fantasy. We can especially recommend Panang Curry and the very tender Roasted Duck in orange sauce with the world's best French fries. The staffs have been extremely friendly and attentive. We felt like VIP’s. We have received a fantastic service from the cleaning staff that have been especially nice and provided daily cleaning, towels and plenty of coffee and water every single day – including flowers and fruit once in a while. Likewise, the waiters, the front desk and the boat people and the luggage boys have been fantastic, just a single one that @JanniRasmussen mentions in her review has never shown even a little smile! But there are too few chairs on the beach. @Pia Dahl states in her review 10 chairs for 200 guests. It is not correct. After reading her review, we counted the chairs and found 40 chairs for common use and 20 chairs by the beachfront rooms, a total of 60 chairs. But that's too little, which causes towel racing, which I also mentioned in previous review and as @Andre F mentions in his review. It is especially European guests who do this. However, during our 29 days stay, there were only a few days we couldn't find two beach chairs at 9am. The place has the best beach – lovely white sand, enclosed bathing area without longtaliboats, and excellent snorkelling. Activities include massage, petanque, scuba diving, fishing, island tours and sometimes Yoga lessons. Tip: in the case of Jellyfish, take a taxi boat or walk to Paradise Beach. We can clearly recommend Koh Hai Fantasy and will definitely come again - preferably for as long stay like this.

The biggest resort on Koh Ngai and probably the best! We stayed 6 nights in this resort in one of the upper chalets which was a bit of a hike but worth it! The view from our chalet was great looking over the whole bay and towards some of the other small islands. The chalet was a bit dated but had everything needed and was serviced every day. The balcony was great with a large fan overhead and comfortable chairs. The pool was also a bit dated, but with the resort right on the beach you didn't have to use it. Breakfast was adequate and the restaurant menu was very good with fresh fish daily. Would go back, no problem!
