We have just returned from a holiday at Domaine des Ormeaux, a charming, rural spot in the heart of Perigord. The location itself is gorgeous, the gites impeccable and beautifully appointed with great attention to detail shown throughout.

The star of this show is the warm hospitality of hosts Vincent and Xavier who are friendly and most welcoming. Vincent was happy to share his extensive local knowledge which greatly added to our enjoyment of the holiday. Special mention to local masseuse Salya whose therapeutic massages are terrific.

This beautiful location in the green heart of France is a great place to unwind- it is so lovely that we extended our stay. Thoroughly recommend a holiday here, we will certainly return. Merci Vincent et Xavier - à bientôt.

We’ve just returned from spending a wonderful two weeks in gite Marie at Domaine des Ormeaux in Ajat. The gite itself was fantastic; the kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need whilst the level of decor and linen provided in the bedrooms and bathroom would put some boutique hotels to shame!

In fact I often felt as though we were staying in a countryside luxury spa resort at times thanks to the Jacuzzi, sauna and heated outdoor swimming pool - and if that wasn’t sufficient, then Agnes is available to provide a very professional range of massage treatments from facial and relaxation massage to more sports orientated treatments.

The small village of Ajat offers a wonderful retreat from some of the busier and more commercialised parts of the Dordogne, and Vincent was so kind in showing us around the village and explaining the history of the medieval church and the restoration work that is nearing completion.

Sincere thanks also to Xavier for taking us to the neighbouring market town of Thenon. He guided us round the wonderful range of local produce on sale at the market held every Tuesday, before returning us to Domaine des Ormeaux via the fantastic artisan boulangerie in Fossemagne.

As a base from which to explore the Périgord, then Ajat scores very highly. Set in the rolling green countryside with wonderful oak-lined lanes, you are only a 30 minute drive from the city of Périgueux, but also have good access links via the A89 and A20 to travel further afield should you wish. The hardest part will be deciding which sights to visit – quaint medieval villages, grand châteux, legendary vineyards, prehistoric caves or picturesque gardens...

If you are searching for a retreat from the pace of city life, then Domaine des Ormeaux is the perfect tonic. The peace and tranquillity of the countryside surrounds you, and the animals who reside there will add colour to your days, whether it’s feeding the horses or just playing fetch with the energetic sheepdog Ada.

Vincent and Xavier are wonderful and thoughtful hosts, providing everything from delicious local strawberries upon our arrival to a relaxing evening of ‘welcome’ drinks with them where they will happily provide advice on the area for your visit.

We would happily recommend a stay at Domaine des Ormeaux – it has been a fantastic experience in a beautiful region of France and we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

We stayed for 3 nights in the 'lucy' apartment. The room itself was large, comfortable and fitted with everything you need for a short stay (if staying longer I would recommend a gite). The grounds are lovely, and the pool warm, clean and very welcoming after a day of sightseeing. The host, Vincent, is lovely and made us feel welcome straight away, offering advice on what to do in the area and happy to chat to us in a mixture of French and English.

For a farm country stay in luxury rooms with pool access Domaine des Ormeaux can't be beat. Host Vincent is caring and knowledgeable and goes out of his way to make one comfortable. My room was almost brand new with a super comfy King-size bed. Bathroom, shower, and plumbing impeccable. No country stuff here. Great center for your visits in Dordogne and not far from Sarlat. Pool available and cow views. Real French country living.

It was a long time I wanted to come here. I finally came in February 201- after a business season exhausting. I needed to rest and this was the best option I've ever had. Green everywhere, calm, farm aniams aroud proove you are in a quiet place. The flats are just made with taste and we really feel like home. Nothing is missing.
I will go agin in April 2016

We enjoyed a completely relaxing 10-night stay in this most beautiful location. Gite Amelie is extremely comfortable and very well appointed. The surroundings are superb and our hosts were most welcoming.

We enjoyed feeding the Donkeys, Pony and Horse every day, plus, on one occasion, the Pigs ! We especially enjoyed the visits from Gina - the most gentle, beautiful Dog.

Thank you very much Vincent & Xavier for a fabulous holiday and we will most definitely return in the future.

We had 2 quiet, relaxing weeks in the preseason at Domaine des Ormeaux. The welcome from the owners was warm and we immediately felt at home. The owners are very eager to bring their guests closer to their home, thank you for this! We particularly liked the philosophy that Domaine des Ormeaux is a place to come together at the people, this is supported by the owners, but you can also stay well by itself if you want to. The gites are very well appointed and modern, but fit in well with the old homestead. The location is a bit outside of verse on a hill with a wonderful view. Despite the quiet location it is a good starting point to explore the Perigord.

If you're looking for amazing amenities and beautiful views out your window in a quiet, beautiful place, Domaine des Ormeaux is for you. We had the good fortune of spending several days in one of the four gites during our "off season" visit, and we had a wonderful time. Even during the off season, there are many thing to do and see in the area (plus no crowds!!!).

Hosts Vincent and Xavier welcomed us to their amazing accommodations in a very special part of France. During the day we explored castles, took long walks, and visited beautiful off-the-beaten-path towns and villages and at night we returned "home" to a well-appointed kitchen (with everything you'd need to create lavish meals), ultra-comfortable bedding and luxurious bathrooms. You can't go wrong with staying a one of their four beautiful gites...a few days or weeks. We will be back.
