We had a really lovely stay. The apartments are part of the Hilton hotel but with its own mini reception. We had everything we needed including a washing machine and dishwasher. The apartments were very spacious and the cleaners were like ninjas! We paid for breakfast included which had lots of choice. And we booked for the Halloween buffet which our children loved! It was clean, staff were friendly and we had a very relaxing time. There were lots of pools including a main pool, teen pool, romantic pool, indoor pool which was warmer and a few others dotted about. There was a playground and kids club although we didn’t get around to using the kids club. The gym was good and available 24hrs. There is a shuttle bus to and from the marina regularly, it was lovely to walk around and eat out. We also went on a boat trip where we saw the caves and dolphins and went parasailing. Also recommend visiting Quintaira, it’s easy and reasonable to get an Uber wherever you want to go. Overall a really lovely trip and I would definitely visit again.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for choosing the Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa for your family holiday in the Algarve and posting a review on TripAdvisor. We appreciate your enthusiastic feedback and are thrilled to hear that you were impressed with the apartments as well as the hotel facilities. As clarification for other travelers, the residential apartments are not part of the Hilton brand but are held to the same high quality standards as the hotel and rented out and managed by the hotel team. We are thrilled you had a comfortable and relaxing holiday at our resort and very much look forward to welcoming you all back. Kind regards, Nuno Braga Lopes general manager

Really enjoyable stay at end of Oct and in to Nov with wife and 2 young kids, 4 and 1. Very positive experience with As Casactas in 2018 so we decided to return and equally as pleased this time around. 2 bed apartment is spacious, clean and well serviced daily. We took the breakfast buffet which was really good both to get us up and out of apartment but to start day with excellent range of fresh foods. People and facilities all very good and cater very well for kids. Walk to marina is doable and about 1.5 miles however hotel also runs a shuttle which is excellent service. We had what we thought was a leak in bathroom ceiling however was run off from AC unit. Hotel management responded very quickly both to check the leak but also offered to move us to another apartment straight away - we declined and were very happy with apartment and condensation leak was not a major issue however the response was very pleasing. Clean and overall very good facilities and presentation including a good gym. Would recommend or return.

Where to start! We loved our stay from start to finish. We had emailed in advance to request a few things e.g. high chair, ground floor apart, early check-in and everything was facilitated. We had booked a 1 bed apartment and we were given a 2 bed which was brilliant for storing our luggage and giving us space. Apartment - had everything! The kitchen is fully equipped. We were on self catering basis so we had our breakfast and lunch there every day. With a 7 month old it was great for sorting their meals. The living room was so spacious and separate from the kitchen. Bedrooms were a great size and bed was very comfy. The apartment was cleaned daily with fresh towels every day. We had 2 sun loungers on the terrace overlooking the garden and a table with 2 chairs. Overall couldn’t fault the accommodation. The resort itself is lovely, you have use of all of the Hilton facilities. To access the main pool and the restaurants we had to go down some steps which was a bit annoying with a buggy. There is access to one of the pools without steps but getting to the restaurant’s you do have some steps. We didn’t have any issues getting sun loungers but I would imagine during peak season there would be. We ate a few evenings at the restaurant, food was really good although found it more expensive than the marina and it was a bit slow waiting for mains. The shuttle is very handy to get the marina this is accessed from the front of the Hilton and they have a child seat if needed. There is a Spar convenience store 15 mins walk if you need anything it’s well equipped. Overall we loved our stay and while our little one is still small we’ll definitely be back.

We have stayed at these apartments several times over the past decade and this was our first time back since CoVid. To our great disappointment, it comes across like there is a new management team who are solely focused on extracting every possible euro at every turn. This contrasts hugely with the previous style of management where loyalty was encouraged and service was family friendly and considerate. Our poor experience started at the booking. We previously always got the best rates by going directly (and the front desk had encouraged us to do that in the past). However, it now appears that going through online agents can reduce the costs of your stay by about 50%! To add to that, we were asked for a 50e cash deposit for our keys - or we could write down our credit card details and leave them on a piece of paper with reception! Our credit card company strongly advised us never to write down our card details to leave with someone, so we gave 50e - but were not given a receipt. The deposit was returned at check-out. We were then told that we would have to pay 5e per day for a cot that we had asked for at the point of booking. Maybe this was previously waved, but this seems like a new charge. It doesn't seem family friendly to charge such a high amount - we could have purchased a cot with total of that charge over the duration of our stay. We always felt that the reception team were very friendly and helpful. However, on this stay some of the reception team gave the clear impression that interacting with guests was an inconvenience. On some occasions, there was no one at reception. There was never a hello as we passed through reception unless we said it first and even then staff barely lifted their heads. This wasn't the case in any of our stays before and makes me think that management are not prioritising training. Unfortunately, we had the worst apartments of all of our stays by far. The apartment was clearly badly water damaged and seemed to retain damp. The repair job was very, very poor (see pictures) and appeared to simply be painted over. The main problem with this poor repair job and the associated dampness was that it seemed to attract mosquitos. We were frequently and severely bitten throughout our stay. We thought that it could have happened on the patio, but given the number of dead mosquito bodies mushed into the walls by previous guests, we realised that they were resident in the apartment. We had to thoroughly fumigate the bedroom with mosquito spray and thankfully, the number of bites reduced dramatically. It wasn't only us that had this issue though - we spoke to other guests who were similarly "eaten alive". This is completley different experience to previous stays - I'd guess that managment must be focused on cost cutting. I have a memory of seeing the gardens being sprayed in previous stays - I always assumed this was for mosquitos, but in any case, it appears to have stopped. What I can say is that we never had a single mosquito bite in this property until our stay this year. As other reviews have noted, the AC is intermittent at best, and we also had an ongoing issue with the WiFi - it never reached the bedrooms. The Spa is clearly in need of modernising and they also seem to have dropped their association with Espa. It is unclear what products are being used now. Workmen were walking around the pool area while we were there which certainly tainted an expensive experience that was purchased as a present. The therapists themselves were friendly and professional however the reception staff were abrupt and not what you would expect walking into a spa and certainly not reflective of our previous experiences in the spa. We could hear what seemed to be a manager giving out to staff in the office behind the reception desk while we waited to be checked in. As other reviews have pointed out, the shuttle bus is effectively no more. The bus only seats 8 people - and first thing in the morning, seats are always taken up by staff going to the beach. This frequently means that families are unable to get on (since maybe 3 seats are left, but a family of 4 can't get on together). I simply can't see how two buggies could fit on the shuttle, which is no larger than a big taxi. Added to that, the driver is clearly unhappy in his job. There is no clear pick-up point at the marina either - it seems to change with each driver. On more than one occasion we were driven past at speed. You will need to budget 10e extra per day to pay for taxis as the shuttle just isn't worth even trying to use. One final issue is that it's unclear who the property is trying to attract. It used to be dominated by families and was family friendly. This time though, there were several parties (stags / hens?), and a lot of noise at night time. I don't think the property is a family friendly property anymore - I'm just not sure if that's by design or not. Overall, it's clear that standards have dropped significantly - this is evident in the attitude of some staff and in the upkeep of the apartments. We always assumed that we would return each year, but given our experience this year we will likely try to find somewhere else for 2023.

Dear Guest, We thank you for returning to our resort since the onset of Covid and very much regret to learn of your disappointment with your recent stay. We apologise for the shortcomings on this occasion and will be addressing all the points you raised regarding staff, procedures and apartment maintenance with the relevant managers at our next Executive Committee meeting and taking effective action to correct the issues. Regarding the rates, our on-site reservations team will always match the price, should you find cheaper rates through a third party online agency, as long as the rate conditions are the same. We will continue to cater to all types of guests although we are predominantly a family resort during high season. Please be assured that we value our loyal guests and hope you will reach out again to us next year through our direct channels. We look forward to welcoming you back and restoring your faith in our property. Kind regards, Nuno Braga Lopes general manager

We stayed in a two bed apartment (ascascatasvilamoura.com) which was quite spacious. We had a first floor view of the pool area (apt 115). It is worth asking for a pool view. The apartment had two spacious bedrooms and a pull out double bed in the sitting room area. Most UK and Irish TV channels were available. Daily cleaning service was very efficient and of a high standard. Staff were very obliging in providing a new iron and hairdryer when requested. The apartment is about 15 plus years old and could do with painting as the walls were pretty shabby looking. The furniture was dated and badly worn in places. Floor mats need replacing or removing. Sink tap in shower room was not secure, shower head loose and toilet roll holder broken off wall. Grouting around the bath in bathroom needs refreshing and some tiles were missing off the wall beside the bath. There were also ants in both bathrooms. Beware, pets are allowed in this complex and there was a dog howling for two of the nights we stayed there. When we reported this, the reception claimed the next day that the dog was not from the complex, even though we know the apartment where the dog was in. The kitchen appliances worked well and there were plenty of clean kitchen utensils supplied. The fridge was a bit temperamental but appeared to rectify itself by the end of our stay (requested a temp fridge, but not provided). The A/C unit in the master bedroom was faulty and despite requests to have it looked at it it was never fixed. Eventually we were strangely told by management that it was not an A/C unit and just an air filter, even though it was exactly the same unit as the bedroom beside it which had a working A/C unit. The Cascatus apartments have the use of the Hilton hotel facilities. The Hilton hotel Vilamoura could do with a revamp in certain areas and they appear slow in wanting to do repairs\refurbishments; -Breakfast/dining area is dated and worn looking -Kids playroom is tired looking and requires air con. -Kids club facilities are unattractive and need a refurb -Rubi bar is tired looking and dated -Sofas in entrance foyer are stained -Romantic swimming pool needs to be refurbished -Jacuzzi pool was not working when we stayed, also needs to be cleaned -Ice machines in hotel corridors were not working -Entrance driveway to Hilton hotel was somewhat weeded and mildly littered -Entrance outside walls to hotel were in poor condition with paint peeling in a lot of places -Walls around the upper Cascatus pool area had paint peeling off walls -In general all corridor walls need repainting -Some of the paving around the outside steps could do with repairs Shuttle bus service to marina and beach during the day is limited to 8 people so be prepared to wait. A 15 and 8 seater operate in the evening. There use to be a 30 plus seater but this is no longer available. Pool bar, Fresco bar (as advertised on website) beside the upper pool was closed, and this takes away from the atmosphere of that pool area. There is no children's entertainment at night which is a bit of a let down for a Hotel this size and the amount of young families there. The buffet breakfast was of a high standard with a large variety of fresh breads, rolls, cakes, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals etc supplied. The omelettes were excellent. The dining area during the day and in the evening is of a good standard of food with good variety. The dining staff and bar staff are all very efficient, hardworking and very helpful. The garden areas of the complex are maintained to a high standard and look very well. There is a well stocked Spar shop which is about a 20 minute walk from the Hotel. Ubers are available but limited when there is a requirement for 5 plus passengers. Reception will provide you with several local private taxi firm numbers. Hotel has a section on the beach reserved with sunbeds and umbrellas, no charge for this if you have pool towels from Hotel. Would not rate the hotel a 5 star, probably 3 with potential to be 4 star.

Dear Guest, Thank you for returning to our resort and posting a review with your detailed feedback. Regarding the residential apartments, these are rented via the hotel operation and the maintenance and upkeep is managed jointly with the private owners. Please be assured that we have made a note of the issues to be addressed in apartment 115. Pets are not allowed in the residential complex and we are being increasingly vigilant of anyone who is in breach of this rule. Unfortunately, the pets and owners of the villas outside the resort are beyond our control. With regard to the hotel repairs/ refurbishment, the exterior walls of the entire resort were painted in 2019/20. This year we have started and will complete the refurbishment of the rooms and apartments and will be starting with the restaurants and bar later this year, so most of the points on your list will be addressed. Repairs to paving, corridor, walls and driveway will be gradually carried out by our maintenance team. All the plastic and metal waste in the resort is separated for recycling after collection from bins. In light of the staff shortage experienced globally, we were unable to open the Fresco Bar this year and source a larger bus service provider for the shuttle to the marina and beach. We are aware of the inconvenience caused to our guests and are hopeful that these issues will be resolved by next year. Thank you for acknowledging the high standard of our breakfast buffet, garden areas and efficient staff and please be assured that we will continue to upgrade the facilities and work hard to comply with our high standards and create memorable stays for all our guests. We are certain that you will see considerable improvements on your next visit to the resort and look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards, Nuno Braga Lopes general manager

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. We had a ground floor apartment which gave us a lovely view over the gardens. There are two loungers and a table with two chairs for sitting outside. But beware the mosquitoes in summer, they are relentless. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed several home cooked meals as eating out for two weeks is too much. The dish washer and washing machine got a lot of use. Serviced daily too. Very modern and well located about 3km from the Vilamoura Marina. There are actually 3 hotels on the premises which share facilities. There are two main pool areas which get very busy from early morning and a smaller adult only pool which we enjoyed. We used the gym every second day, which is situated in the Hilton hotel on the premises. It is fairly large and well equipped. We did not visit any of the restaurants or bars on the premises as we generally went out as we had a hired car. There is free under cover parking. There is good free Wi-Fi through out the premises.

Got attacked by a dog walking back to apartment one evening in the hallway. Apparently it’s a residents dog and reception weren’t interested at all. If we had young children with us then could have been a different story. Hilton seem to be turning a blind eye as our complaints were ignored. The owner of the dog was completely belligerent and seemed to think it was appropriate to allow a large dog to roam the corridors of the apartment. Thank god our kids weren’t with us.

We spent 9 days over Christmas in the As Cascatas resort, arriving on Dec 23rd. Having booked a double room, we were thrilled to find we had actually been allocated a 1 bed apartment. Loads of space and a fully stocked kitchen and 3 balconies. We booked half board so we went to the Hilton hotel for our breakfast and evening meal. As an As Cascatas guest you have a set menu with limited choices or you can choose from the main Hilton dinner menu spending 25 euro. The girl at reception in the Hilton told us we would have to pay an extra 90 euro each if we wanted an evening meal on New Year's Eve!!!! We declined as we felt that was a ridiculous price to pay and got a taxi to Villamoura Marina on NYE where we ate in one of the Chinese Restaurants overlooking the harbour. Fantastic value. We hired a car and played at the Villamoura tennis club a couple of times, 16 euro for an hour of tennis. There is no shop in the As Cacatas complex and the nearest shop is a good 15 mins walk. There are supermarkets about a 25 min walk away. The snooker/pool tables in the games rooms were out of action for some reason so very little to do in the complex itself. As we had the car we really enjoyed visiting various places, the Palace de Estoi, Faro, the Mar Shopping Centre, the golf course at Amendoiera where you can also play a short par 3 course rather than a full round of golf, which suited me perfectly. After the golf we had a snack on the terrace where the view was beautiful. Very reasonably priced. At the back of the kids playground in the As Cascatas complex is a hair salon/barber where Michael, a lovely man from Toronto, will look after your hair for extremely reasonable prices. Overall we really enjoyed our stay but without hiring a car it would not have been as good. Thank you As Cascatas

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the As Cascatas Apartments. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment on a bed & breakfast basis. We were lucky to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment which was amazing (I wanted to move in). We arrived to rose petals over the bed, chocolate dipped strawberries and sparkling wine on ice. We had access to 3 balconies and 4 TVs, the apartment had 2 bathrooms, a fully fitted kitchen with washer/dryer, dishwasher, oven/hob and fridge freezer. Full lounge diner was lovely. Breakfast at the Hilton had the usual choice of hot food, cereal, pastries, fruit and continental options. We found out on day 3 that omelettes and poached or fried eggs were available to order. We also found out that speciality coffees were available. We had not been advised of this. Good hygiene practices were observed at breakfast. The pool areas were really good and we didn’t have any issues getting a lounger at either the main Hilton pool, or the quieter pool at the apartments. Towels were also available and could be taken to the section of beach reserved for guests. There was a small gym which was sufficient but the aircon seemed not to work so it was a little stuffy. The hotel is a long way out but the free shuttle bus to the Marina and beach was a useful feature and we made good use of this. We also visited the spa to use the pools and relaxation area. There is a spar supermarket about a ten minute walk away and 3 or 4 restaurants ranging from cheap eats to fine dining. If you need to use taxis outside of the shuttle bus times, Uber is a cheap option. All in all a great hotel, fantastic accommodation and we would highly recommend. (There was even a family of cats - mum and 6 kittens that were born on site and are now being looked after and fed by staff and guests alike - I was so sad to say goodbye!).
