Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
These apartments are very dated but spacious and extremely clean. They have everything you need for a week away especially if you plan on eating out most of the time. They are in quieter part but still an easy ten minute walk to the beach and Marina. Be aware that there is no reception at the hotel so if you are arriving late you need to contact the hotel directly to let them know. We arrived at 22.30ish and then had to ring a number for someone to come and give us the key, it was a bit inconvenient but only waited about fifteen minutes for them to meet us. Also, we had a late flight home so enquired about keeping the room on. We were told that was fine as nobody was coming in after us however they wanted 55 Euros for the privilege 😳 naturally we declined! We would definitely return but hopefully with better flight times.

Just returned from the Algamar Apartments in Vilamoura. Good budget accommodation decorated in typical Portuguese style. Large lounge with well equipped kitchenette (electric cooker with 4 rings and oven, large fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster and kettle). Separate large bedroom. Large bathroom with bath and shower. Balcony with table and chairs overlooking pool area. No air conditioning. These apartments are well situated in a quiet area but still only a five minute walk to the Marina.
Apartment was supposed to be cleaned and towels changed twice a week, we didn't see anyone in the 8 days we were there, for us that wasn't a problem as we put our towels in the washing machine and kept the place clean.
Key pick-up is at the agency just across the road and if you have any queries the agency receptionist was very helpful she even went online to confirm our taxi to airport. If you arrive after 7pm when the office is closed make sure you get a phone number to contact them and someone will meet you at the apartments.
A word of warning regarding the lift.....
It will only take 2 people going up - with small suitcases. When we arrived we got stuck but thankfully the guy who met us with the key was still there and he told us to go to -0 and get out there and walk up (not good when your on the 3rd floor). We took no chances after that and only 1 person went up at a time but 3 were able to come down.
Supermarket - turn right from apartments and walk approx 5 minutes-opposite the entrance to the Marina.
Eating out - food generally of a high standard.
Beach - 10 minute walk away.
I would say the Algamar wouldn't be particularly suitable for children as there isn't a kids pool or park, so really nothing to keep them amused.

Well equipped apartment near the casino just a few minutes walk from the marina and pubs and restaurants. We watched a few amazing sunsets from the 19th hole pub in the marina and enjoyed many an afternoon at Setes bar. Amazing fish market at Quartiera provided for our meals.

Dirtiest place I have ever walked into. Pool was being worked o dust and noise every day. Our flight was in the evening so we were charged for a late fee €30. Then asked for €300 deposit which would be payed back after we left when their clean team checked the room. Clean team what a joke. The foyer was full of dirt and rubbish, the bathroom had pubic hair all through it, drawers in kitchen filthy, fridge filthy, balcony filthy with broken table. To get to the pool you go out the back to what only can be described as a building yard. Cigarette butt's and beer bottles everywhere. Staff at gartveaur extremely rude and unhelpful. All they want is your money and to hell with you. Noise all night from gangs of youths partying and banging doors. Worst experience ever. They give you a fob for front door knowing it has been smashed in, anyone can get in. For your own sake please avoid at all costs.

Went for 5 nights as had a wedding in Portugal. Got to apartment at around 4.30pm and Garvetur real estate agent got us checked in. Joanna in Garvetur was absolutely brilliant. Even brought a hair dryer to me in the apartment.
Perfect for our stay.. Pool not great and very little chairs or beds available around pool. On the plus side five minute walk to beach and was just fantastic.
Really enjoyed and couldn't praise Joanna in Garvetur enough. Professional, friendly and went above and beyond. Lovely.

algamar apartments are great value for money quiet and comfotable ask for pool view we were only people in pool all week it is a two star and thats what you get a clean place to sleep cleaners graet garvetuer are closed over lunch so if you arrive then you can organise before to colect key very kind people, basic apartments but i have been going to villamoura for years now and stayed in varios accomodation from 4 star hotels and these wee apartments are not any worse than them you will not beat these for comfort , location is fab and the value will not be beaten would recommend any one to go i have reviewd sleep quality with a 3 only as fans supplied instead of air conditioning

The Algamar is a great place to stay very spacious rooms and always clean and tidy. About a 10 minute walk to the marina and nightlife but also 30 yards away from groggans which is a cracking pub...........

We spent 10 days staying in Algamar Appartments and found them ideal for our holiday. Starting with the bathroom, the shower was perfectly powerful, what you need after a day at the beach. The bedroom was a nice size, although the beds were two singles, not a double as expected. The living room was large and airy with a kitchen with a new oven, a good fridge freezer and all the pans, plates and cutlery we needed. There was also a washing machine. Our balcony overlooked the pool which was clean, not that we needed to use it. There was also an iron and ironing board, a desk fan that we were grateful for, and even an umbrella to take to the beach. The appartments were a 10 minute stroll from the beach and marina, and close to the casino, and with a small supermarket underneath and two larger ones 10 minutes up the road it was idealy placed. The appartments were quiet too. On our second to last morning we were awakened by an over zealous cleaner who even with the chain on the door started ringing the bell....at 10 am. We were on holiday so not expecting to be out of our rooms so early. She came back later still trying to get in. This was a minor complaint and I recommend Algamar appartments if you're looking for somewhere to self accom. I read in another review someone not happy about the lack of wifi and good TV, but I feel that hotels are better for that. The appartments are better for somewhere to shower, sleep, and cook for yourself when you're not at the beach or out for the night.

Stayed here for a week at the end of June 2013. Last minute cheap booking so knew we were taking a chance. 2 bedroom apartment was fine, air conditioned, slightly quaint but large enough with bathroom and separate shower room. No UK TV channels if that is a problem for you. Location was great, 5 minute walk to the beach and the marina. Couple of nice bars on the doorstep for breakfast and drinks. No safe in apartment although the estate agent where you collect the keys held our passports etc in their safe for the duration of our trip. Only let down was the pool area which is nothing like as advertised. No grass area at all and surrounded by other hotels. Went to the beach every day so don't know how much sun the pool area gets. Photos of the pool area attached so you can see for yourself. The beach is excellent, clean and maintained, hundreds of sunbeds and fixed straw parasols although it cost €16.20 per day for 2 beds for the whole day (you can pay for half day until 2pm). If you are just looking for cheap apartments in a decent location and don't want to spend all day round the pool, this place should be okay.

Good location near to everthing. appartments are well equipped. Large lounge .bedroom and kitchen. cleaned twice in the week There are some great places to eat just around the corner from the appartments so you will not go hungary.The only downside to this place is there is not a safe which should be a must we would go again in the future
