These traditional fishermen's cabins are certainly charming. That the traditional beds are very narrow has to be accepted, but not the very poor quality of the mattresses. Svinoya comprises many Rorbuers, but be careful which one they give you: Ours (number 10) had its porch just two meters from the road. At night, there was practically no traffic, but during... More

When we arrived we were a bit uncomfortable as the location is closed to an industrial fishery. But the quality of our self catering and the close surroundings of Svinoya were very good. A great restaurant with very good service and friendly staff is also part of Svinoya. (Pictures are from around our self catering).

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a fly-drive tour round Lofoten. We had a standard, 2 bedroom cabin. The lounge and kitchen area were well equipped and reasonably spacious - full sized cooker, fridge, coffee maker, etc. The lounge had a TV with plenty of satellite channels and the wifi was very good. The 2 bedrooms were... More

We stayed at the Svinoya Rorbuers but in a small double bedroom in a small modern hotel called the Vestfjord Suites. It was lovely. There were two big picture windows in the bedroom and you could lay in bed and look at wonderful views. There was also a balcony where you could sit out and eat lunch and generally relax... More

Our Rorbuer for the next few days was set at the end of a little grouping of huts with fantastic views over chrystal clear waters to the mountains beyond. A big living area consisting of a flat screen tv with sofa and easy chairs ay one end and a kitchen with dinning table at the other. The bathroom was massive... More

Highly recommended. The restaurant and reception/shop are situated in a brilliantly restored c1820's warehouse full of atmosphere. They are staffed by charming and very helpful staff and the food is very good but expensive, as is the case throughout Norway. I hired a car from Rentacar Lofoten on the advice of the lovely lady in reception and the deal I... More

Spent three nights in a genuine rorbuer here. Some modern look alikes have been added to the real ones. Tiny bedroom and we could open the door only 45 degrees as it then hit the bed. Two had been placed together to make a double. We put the suitcases in the sitting room\kitchen and got dressed in there. Very clean... More

Original Rorbuer accommodation but I suspect some of them are more recently built and most considerably larger than the fishermen would have recognised. Living, dining and kitchen area well equipped and comfortable with a view over the water. Bedrooms very sparse and small. Each one had a single bunk bed and a separate single bed. Bathroom was fine. The place... More

Simple cabin with simple but stylish furniture. Heaters and woodburner and underfloor heating in the bathroom so very cosy and easy to put on a bit of heat in the evening if required. Well insulated - you couldn't hear the rain when it poured in spite of a corrugated iron roof! Spotlessly clean, comfy beds, good hall area for coats... More

We stayed in Rorbuer 23 arriving late on a snowy cold evening in January. Our cabin was toasty warm and welcoming. Twin beds a bit basic and not so comfy but it did not spoil a wonderful stay. When we woke up in the morning to see the view onto the water and mountains it was all worthwhile! We saw... More
