Detailed Reviews
I stayed at the hotel for two nights. The check in took quite some time, but they were very friendly. The first afternoon we enjoyed the baths very much. We went out to dinner and to the casino.
The room had a portable airconditioner but it didn’t really work. What I really missed was a mini fridge as it would have been nice to enjoy a cold drink (it was really warm). The room was clean, spacious and I loved our little terrace. The shower worked well too and at the end of the day I drank a nice cup of coffee on our terrace.
The first morning at breakfast I was quite disappointed as I had informed them beforehand (reservation, e-mail as confirmation and at the check in) that I was vegan. The lady at the buffet told me the lettuce was vegan 😂🙈. I went to the reception afterwards as I was going to stay for another night. The next morning they had soy milk, butter, yoghurt and fresh fruits! The fruit they had the day before was not fresh (they apparently buy it in buckets). I had expected a wellness center like this to be a little bit more prepared and to have more healthy options (like fresh fruits), but they really made up for it the second day. They view is amazing though and I liked being able to have breakfast in my rope.
The saunas were really nice and we had a great second day at the spa. Due to Corona they didn’t have the scrub salt available. Perhaps an idea would be to have some sort of indication (like flipping an image of a person when you go in or something) outside of each sauna so people can see how many people are in there (corona restrictions), without having to open and close the door, as looking through the window was tricky too. The many chairs and lounges were amazing and I can definitely recommend the mojito!
The next morning at check out there was a very long line (all the way outside) and it took quite some time before I could check out. Again the staff was really friendly. It was a nice and relaxing experience.

We had the most amazing stay and went home feeling totally relaxed from our hectic schedules, everyone was super accommodating. Julia Q gave me a facial massage which was out of this world, great housekeeping, Ingrid (waitress) was adorable and had a lovely aura about her, also a waiter (with glasses, I can't recall his name) was incredibly accommodating. The food at Pure was out of this world! Wow! The facilities are fantastic. The no phone policy is amazing and nice to sit on the terrace. I've already booked another stay in June for my Mum's birthday. I will definitely be recommending this place and look forward to coming back.

Loved our stay at the hotel and the wellness center. Stayed in a superior room, all the rooms are updated and it was really relaxed staying there. The coffee cups (incl. a decaf. option, thank you) were refilled every day. It’s a little expensive, but where do you find a hotel room with access to lots of sauna’s, a steam bath, a big swimming pool, a loinge area and really friendly staff. We certainly enjoyed our stay.

This was probably one of the most unexpectedly disappointing holiday experiences for us in the last couple of years. We had booked a 2-day stay with a 50-minute wellness massage in the Valentine's Day weekend. Obviously, the place was crowded, but what do you expect around the 14th of February. However, due to circumstances we couldn't arrive and check in at the original hour (while making the reservation, the website asks you to indicate an estimated time or arrival) and since the wellness massages, for which we paid a considerable extra amount of money, had been planned not longer after our indicated ETA, the hotel called us up to tell us that the massages would be cancelled and our money would not be refunded. Nobody had warned us that the massages had already been planned at a certain time and that therefore we absolutely had to be on time in order to make use of them. The reservation e-mail didn't mention this either, and yet we were treated as if this situation was completely our fault. As a 'compensation', the hotel offered us a workshop 'how to give a massage', which we accepted, since it was the only valid compensation they were willing to offer us (the other one was a session on a massage chair... come on, seriously?). We simply felt cheated.
Additionally, the food wasn't that great in restaurant Senses (we didn't try Pure, which is supposed to be the more high quality establishment, since they were already fully booked when we were there), the room was okay, but not brilliant (also, the carpet in the hallway was dirty and clearly needed a cleaning), the staff was friendly and generally accommodating, but in some instances clearly didn't master their languages, even though Thermae 2000 hosts a huge amount of French, German and English speaking customers (the workshop was given in some seriously broken English, which just seemed amateurish and out of place).
In short, the place is not bad, but expensive in comparison to what it has to offer. And of course, the feeling of having been cheated out of our
massages dominated the rest of our stay. We won't be coming here again any time soon. Would not recommend.

Very disappointing wellness day at Thermae 2000. Way too busy so you can hardly use the facilities and facilities such as the Turkish steam bath are out of order. Although a bathrobe is mandatory, people walk around without a bathrobe, with their own food and drinks and smoking is practiced in many places. No one is addressed by the staff. The costs of a day of Wellness at Thermae2000 are disproportionate to the quality and facilities.Certainly not with 9 euros parking costs. My complaint about said matters is treated as if this is normal.

Dear Thank you for your response and your review. We deeply regret that not everything was to your liking. It is indeed correct that the steam bath is currently out of use due to work. we are constantly working on improvements, which is why the steam bath is now out of use. Bathrobes are mandatory only in our catering areas and rest areas. Unfortunately, the parking lot does not belong to thermae 2000 itself and therefore you simply pay parking costs. kind regards, thermae 2000

Nice hotel, clean, friendly staff, quiet rooms (view on the hills). Complete breakfast, nice restaurant Pure for dinner. We went to the adjacent wellness facilities, a bit outdated. Parking space, however, 14 eur per night as a hotel guest??????

Already for years we regularly visit Thermae 2000.
They have 2 special pouring session, Banja and Steam.
All sauna masters have their own way, but Elvy is doing both
in a very pleasant way. We prefer the traditional way of bringing the heat to your body instead of making it a show.
Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a review of the Hotel Thermae 2000, not about the Welness Centre itself that I honestly still like and recommend. This hotel is horrible... The rooms look like they date out of the late 70-ies, they were not clean at all - our bathroom was full of hairs (and that in a wellness place!). We paid extra for a so called Suite but they only thing we got was a bigger room, resulting in the TV being further away from the bed, so far you could hardly watch it. Dirty terrace, not cleaned at all, sigaret buts on the terrace floor, a ridiculous plastic plant on the terrace...it's not because it's between Xmas and NY you don't have to keep your terraces clean. The room (30) was clearly smoked in and smelled really stale. What made us laugh was the miserable, small, crooked, plastic Xmas tree they put in the room. We paid over €270 per night (including wellness access) - absolutely ridiculous. Avoid at all cost. By the way, breakfast was more than decent...at least one positive thing...

Entering a hotel where the furniture clearly is worn out and outdated, is not the best entrance. But the real feeling of being ripped off comes when you enter your room. And you realise that a dirty carpet, outdated furniture and a standard bathroom with rust in the bath is what you get for +225 USD for ONE night. In Thermaetel a **** star room means your airconditioning consists out of a fan and your TV is nothing but a small 15" screen cube, the kind of TV's we all remember from our camping trips in the 90's. And this is not a coincidence, because we've seen several rooms. This is Thermaetel 2000 in Valkenburg, The Netherlands, where time stood still since the hotel opened it's doors.
I don't mind paying extra money for a hotelroom. But this hotel is not a 4 star accomodation. And for prices over 225 USD, it's actually a complete ripp-off.
Breakfast is nice....for a standard 3 star hotel. Not for a 4 star wellness hotel, where you expect fresh extras and not a wide range of packed products, except the juices. Most of the tables were still covered with other people's plates when you tried to find your own place. Two thumbs up though:
- The cleaning staff are the only personnell that greets you immediately when you pass by
- The dinners were outstanding, waiters with knowledge about the food, your wish was their command. Fantastic.
The rest of the hotel is not recommendable. Never in my life I paid this much money for such an old, worn out place. But there's more to complain; if you think the Thermae 2000 baths are recommendable, you're wrong. Thermae SPA is aslo a very outdated SPA, where they tried to 'update' the place a few years ago with some white paint. What you can expect:
- Old swimming pools where bath clothing is obligated (??) The swimming area consists out of indoor/outdoor baths with the typical '90's style palmtrees, old baths, noisy whirlpools (air & water sucking sinks behind your back), noisy steambaths with bad lightning (take care of your feet, watch your step), traces of leaking problems everywhere, 2 bistros with appauling food and a very depressive atmosphere in general. The SPA is best described as the kind of SPA you expect in an eastern-European country but the problem is, in eastern Europe they have even better looking SPA's. The colors in the sauna-area of Thermae 2000 guarantee you get the feeling you're dwimming in a crematorium; black, black, wood colors and more black. We were counting the areas where the dust is hanging on the ceilings.
Special warning: At least 2 times a month Thermae has a '100% bath clothing day'. On those days, people are even obligated to wear bath clothing in the sauna areas. Which guarantees a 100% Centerparks atmposhere. Is this wat you expect when you see the website of Thermae 200? No. Do not go to this hotel, take a nice 4 star hotel nearby and you're fine. And I'm not even talking about the extra charges you find on your bill, when you check out in this '4 star' hotel.....

Do not consider staying in this hotel unless you are there just for Thermae 2000 and like to be able to walk to the pools in your bathrobe. In that case, be prepared to pay for that privilege and to deny yourself a stay in a nicer hotel in nearby Maastricht.
At this price level, you expect a certain quality of rooms and service. They are both below par. Compared to the four-star hotels we just had in Beijing and San Francisco, this hotel is both more expensive and lightyears behind in quality and service.
During the evenings, apparently there is just one personnel at the reception and no-one else. Friendly personnel – it's not their fault. But don't expect anybody to show up at your room if there is a problem.
The rooms and hallways look empty, uninspired, impersonal and cheapish. Little effort seems to have been spent on making you feel at home. The color scheme of our room was a combination of ash grey, poison green, white and brown; the furniture modernistic, in a depressing way. The TV set was a small antique CRT rather than the flatscreen you'd expect in a four-star hotel.
If you are looking for a friendly welcome note on your bed or anything else of that kind, all you find is a PRICE LIST at the wall, in big shouting letters. Little is supposed to be fun here.
The single beds are narrow, which is only nice for couples living in celebacy. Fortunately the mattresses are very good.
Our room was reasonably clean and spacious (in part because of the small beds) and had a balcony with a view over a roof covered with grass and flowers.
The hotel is built along a hill and has an elevator which looks like a cable car. It's funny but clunky and in need of an upgrade.
Continental breakfast (included) is extensive, fresh and good quality.
The pools at Thermae 2000 are nice, especially the outside pool which has a pleasant view over the valley. The water is comfortably warm and it is nice to stay outside during the summer evening. It wasn't too crowded when we were there.
There is the usual massages and saunas (the latter nude only – no exceptions). There are massage chairs with (my headphones were broken). If you stay at the hotel, the entrance fee to Thermae is included, but this is little consolation.
The hotel doesn't even try to live up to its price tag. Look elsewhere.
