Sunrise Hotel boasts a desirable location for those seeking beach getaways, with guests appreciating its proximity to towns and private beach access. The hotel's atmosphere is often praised for its cleanliness and modern vibe, complemented by engaging evening entertainment.
However, some travelers have voiced concerns over inconsistent housekeeping and hidden additional fees, which have led to a perception of the hotel offering less value for the money. Moreover, while the staff is generally regarded as friendly, there are reports of inefficiency in resolving issues.

It’s easy to focus on the negatives so I’ll start with the positives. This is a lovely little hotel that has a great position on the bay and is a short bus ride to Lindos. The food is plentiful and of good quality, you have access to something to eat and drink all day. Plenty of staff to clean tables and keep the food replenished and they seem to do a good job of that, there are busier times but each mealtime is spread over several hours so never had to wait for a table. Rooms are cleaned and towels changed every day. I found the staff to be polite if not overly cheerful (I wouldn’t be in 36c heat working in a kitchen or cleaning tables.) Wifi is free but unreliable in rooms, very good 5g signal in most areas. Apart from the junior suites, as they are dug back underground both wifi and 5g are poor in the rooms. Good enough to send messages and download but not good enough to stream.
So some hidden/unexpected charges - The hotel tax is now €7 per room per night paid up front in cash. You have a safe in your room but you can’t use it unless you pay €3 per night. Beach beds/umbrellas €12 per day Beach bar not included in all inclusive
Only one or two of the junior suites have an unobstructed sea view as the restaurant overflow sits between you and the sea. It didn’t bother me but it’s where the staff sit to eat so lounging on your terrace is always observed.
There are NO tea or coffee making facilities in the room. I asked at reception if there was a kettle available (there appears to be a space for it in the room) but I didn’t hear back after they said they would ask for me. This was a common theme when asking for things. It wouldn’t have been an issue as the restaurant was very close to the suites, but for the entire stay only one of the three self services coffee machines worked so there was a perpetual queue for coffee and hot water. There was no coffee served at tables, the ‘waiters’ only cleaned and relaid tables.
As mentioned the room was clean and cleaned daily, on arrival the bed in the suite was poorly made with ill fitting sheets it had the feeling of a quickly made up room after a guest had recently departed.
The bathroom was well appointed but the shower was so good it sprayed water all over and even out into the main room. I think it was supposed to be laid out like a wet room but the drain was situated between your feet if you were on the toilet and it didn’t work. One of the allotted towels had to be constantly used to stop the room flooding. The poor drainage was repeated on the terrace where any excessive water movement flooded the terrace which then pooled and was unable to drain due to odd placement of the hole.
I don’t want to beat the hotel up too much as I did enjoy myself I just felt that it wasn’t worth what I had paid for the suite.

Dear Mullins, Thank you very much for the time you took to write your review. Your kind words about the food, the cleanliness and our staff, fill us with joy and motivate us to continue at this level. To avoid any misunderstandings we would like to clarify that there are no hidden charges the only fee that exists is the accommodation tax that must be paid by all hotels in europe from 2018 onwards. Which is also mentioned in the hotel voucher. The policy of charging the safe varies from hotel to hotel. Relevant reference exists in all travel agents. Lastly, for umbrellas and sunbeds there is an extra charge of 12€ but a voucher worth 10€ is passed for a cocktail at the beach bar. We are particularly sorry for the misunderstanding that occurred with the reception regarding the kettle. We are so sorry to hear that way the techinical issues that you had. We have forwarded your suggestion to our management team in order to improve it. Best regards from Rhodes, Sunrise Beach resort Team

Had a nice 10 days at the sunrise hotel but we had a few issues, booked a junior executive room with shared pool but did not use the pool or terrace as everything covered in birds poo! asked housekeeping to clean but due to birds nesting in the corners unfortunately the next day just covered in birds poo again and couldn’t even leave towels out to dry because of this. Housekeeping kept forgetting to leave towels and the phone in the room wasn’t working so had to walk up to reception to ask for towels and report phone not working only to be told no one phone was connected to reception in the new building which I found very unusual and annoying as we had several trips to report no towels in the room and young lady on reception wasn’t very helpful to say the least! So for that reason would not recommend booking this room. There are two pools one is adults only and is very nice but the family pools sun beds are dangerous as more than half are broken and they all need replacing, beach was lovely you have to pay for sun beds which was 12 euros but you get a ticket to go and get a cocktail at the beach bar which is lovely and Panormitis the bar man was very welcoming. William in the pool bar was lovely and Ermixhen in the restaurant bar was too, only thing wrong was no lemon with gin and tonic at the pool bar and no ice for your drink in the restaurant bar we ask why and they said it wasn’t part of the all inclusive! We did not let this spoil the holiday as the sunrise is in a fabulous little cove and could be a little gem

Our stay at the Sunrise Hotel in Pefkos, Greece, was unfortunately quite disappointing. The issues started immediately with an unexpected tourist tax fee on arrival. The room, which was supposed to accommodate two adults and a child, was far too small and lacked privacy. We barely had enough space for our suitcases which made settling in uncomfortable. The only redeeming feature was the pleasant sea view from our room. Throughout the hotel grounds, there was a persistent smell of sewage, which was particularly off-putting. Additionally, there were never enough sun beds by the pool and the ones on the beach were chargeable at 12 euros per time, which felt excessive for an all-inclusive stay. Speaking of which, the all-inclusive drinks were dreadful. I’m usually not fussy, as long as the drink is cold and wet, but personally I found them practically undrinkable. Even the water in the buffet restaurant was awful, almost salty in taste and bottled water wasn’t included in the all-inclusive package except for a few complimentary bottles on arrival. The buffet restaurant experience was chaotic. It felt like a cattle market - overcrowded, extremely warm, and uncomfortable. The seating was cramped and it was hard to enjoy a meal with people constantly bumping into you. The staff clearing the tables didn’t help either as they were generally quite miserable. On a positive note, the ladies in the hotel shop were very friendly and we ended up buying our drinks there instead. The kitchen staff and cleaners were also friendly, which was appreciated. Despite these negatives, the location of the hotel was idyllic. Being right on the beach with magnificent views across the bay and surrounding mountains was a real highlight. However, the beautiful setting couldn’t make up for the numerous shortcomings in service and amenities.
The money we spent on the all-inclusive package at the Sunrise Hotel just didn’t compare to other all-inclusive holidays we’ve enjoyed in the past. We were really disappointed with the lack of value, especially considering what we’ve experienced elsewhere. For instance, at other resorts, we’ve had premium drinks included, a room fridge stocked with beverages, and little touches like tea and coffee served by waiting staff at breakfast. In the evenings, we’re used to having drinks brought to our table, which adds a nice touch of convenience and service. Unfortunately, none of that was offered here. Overall, the experience just didn’t live up to what we’ve come to expect from an all-inclusive holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are glad to hear that you found our hotel environment pleasant, clean and relaxing. However, we regret that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. While we acknowledge your concerns, we respectfully disagree with some of the points raised. For example, you were not expecting the accommodation tax applicable to hotels from 2018 across Europe. As the beaches in Greece are not private property, but owned by the municipalities, we have to pay to put up sunbeds and umbrellas and are therefore not included in the price. Regarding the all inclusive drinks, we understand your concern about the taste. It is important to note that local alcohol producers are usually the same for all hotels on the island, ensuring consistent quality. Water quality: Our water is regularly tested and complies with legal standards. Each hotel is unique and follows its own concept and policy, which is provided to all agents we work with. Best regards, Sunrise Management Team

Spacious room but with a foul sewage smell and full of ants. Nor is it clean. You should regularly ask yourself if the room can be cleaned and if the towels and toilet paper are replenished. Towels often already dirty and smelly. Many not all-in. Cot right under the air conditioning with an unsecured socket right at head height. I taped this one myself. For the pool beds you have to get up at 6 am to get these. The cream cot are often saggy and broken. Blue beds are fine. Shop pool bar staff and food are fine. For the pizzas you often have to queue (15 to 30 min). But they are worth it. Reception (staff) is fine until you come complaining because they don't like you anymore. You just have to be well prepared that it is all dirty, if you set yourself up for that it might not be so bad.
Looking to get out and about: Lardos not recommended. Pefkos itself not spectacular but the best restaurant in Rhodes Tsambikos really top! Lindos is definitely recommended, taxi from the hotel €15,-

We have just completed a memorable and very enjoyable 10 day stay at the Sunrise Hotel. The hotel is situated overlooking a very scenic bay and the hotel is divided between the adults only section (where we were staying) and the family section for those with younger children. In both sections, at times, there was a shortage of sunbeds but this was often caused by people 'reserving' a sunbed with a towel but they were no where to be seen! On the other hand, one could pay 12 euros for 2 sunbeds plus parasol on the beach and receive a 10 euro voucher against a cocktail at the beach bar. The beach was gently sloping but there were several large rocks under the water to catch out the unwary. A pair of beach shoes is recommended.
There are decent sized pools in both sections and never seemed to be overcrowded but I have to admit that we spent most of our time in the adult section where there was a bar included in the all inclusive where Maria was welcoming and happy to serve the drinks all day and Teo took over for the evening and played music selections in the evening. The bar served beer, wine, spirits and tea/coffee. If you wanted cocktails then you needed to go down to the bar on the beach which was outside the all inc. The bars in both sections were never overcrowded and we never had to wait to get our drinks.
Most evenings there was entertainment from artists singing on a stage on the beach which could be viewed from the terraces up to the main bar by the big pool. This was mainly groups singing popular songs but there was also a fire show and the Greek evening with energetic dancing ( with the option to join in!) As an aside I would suggest that the hotel installs stronger spotlights onto the performers on the beach stage so the audience can see them better.
Food was served in from 7am in the morning through to 11pm at night. If you fancied a snack the pizza was available from 11am through to 4.30pm. All meals were help yourself buffet style and the food was varied, tasty and there was a good selection.
A weak WiFi system was available in the main lobby and we often sat in the lobby to update our tablet and mobile phones. I would suggest that strong WiFi system should be installed throughout the hotel.
W e thoroughly enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere in the adult section, so much so that we are planning to return again next year as we enjoyed it so much!

Do not book if you want an enjoyable holiday! So, it was the first holiday abroad (all-inclusive) for me and my eldest son in 16 years, my younger twos first holiday abroad and my first solo holiday with my children. I wanted it to be special but the start was far from it. We arrived around midnight to be greeted in a clean hotel reception with friendly staff and were shown to our room. The first thing we noticed as we walked through the complex was the awful smell of sewerage and that smell continued into our room. As soon as we turned the lights on we saw the disgusting state of our room (507). The two single bed mattresses were extremely dirty and stained, so much so me and the youngest two slept on the double bed and my eldest spent the night sleeping on top of our two suitcases! The door frames and skirting boards were rotten and the bathroom seemed grubby and the supposed recent makeover incomplete. The vents were dirty. There were ants in the room and bathroom. We couldn’t help but notice another smell too. The next day (my Birthday) we complained and were offered an upgrade at their sister hotel. We went to visit and whilst the other hotel was amazing we decided to stick with the Sunrise Hotel, after they said the mattresses would be replaced. We spent the afternoon in the pool (it was pleasant but the metal guide/handle into the pool was insecure and wobbly). We then explored the food - it was basic and not to our taste or expectations, not helped by the awful sewerage smell. The drinks were watered down and warm. The smell seemed to intensify when visiting the onsite shop - which my kids renamed the stinky shop. There was not enough sun beds and the ones there were clearly needed replacing. We went back to the room (the mattresses had not been changed) to have a shower to find it did not work correctly - water was coming from the tap but the mixer part did not work. My eldest then decided to see what his other smell was and pulled out me of the cabinets out to find this awful mess (see photo) which looks to me like human baby poo! That was the final straw and we were upgraded to the other hotel and then managed to enjoy our holiday. Sunrise did say they would get the manager to come and look at the room but this didn’t happen. The photos you see on the website are nothing like the room we had (apparently a superior family room - it definitely was not & if they class it as that I’d hate to see the standard version)! It is false advertising. The beach was attractive but there was the awful smell. So my advice is steer clear! How can they run a hotel with such disgusting poor standards?! The only good thing is them arranging an upgrade to a different hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry that your stay at our hotel did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that our all inclusive package includes a wide range of food and drinks, but does not include premium drinks. This information should be clearly communicated in our listings and we apologize if this was not clear enough in your case. We understand your frustration because you haven't been to all inclusive hotels before. As far as the food is generous, you didn't get to see all the vatiety of the buffet because you changed hotel. Our services are regularly reviewed to ensure they meet our guests' expectations. Your feedback helps us to make continuous improvements. We wish you a pleasant autumn. Kind Regards Sunrise Management Team

We booked a Superior Double Room via Tui for our stay… Superior it most definitely was not! There were 5 hangers in the wardrobe, no bedside tables, no easy chair, no internal telephone, curtains did not fit the window, under the bed and sofa was filthy dirty with a drinks can and plastic bottle underneath. The bathroom sink was not cleaned daily and the balcony was not swept. The once white towels were dirty grey. When the bed sheet was changed, the clean one was left on the bed for us to make the bed again! Twice I had to ask at reception for towels in the evening as they had not been left by the cleaner (?) There are insufficient sunbeds around the pools and many of these are broken. Wi-Fi is terrible with either no signal or difficulty joining the network, when it does work, it keeps dropping out. Selection of spirits and other alcoholic drinks is poor and the mixers are cheap tasting and overly sweet fountain pump drinks. Food selection is ok Position of the hotel right on the beach is spot on and the adult only pools are nice. There are newer blocks on site which look lovely and some have private pools or swim up rooms. Choose wisely!

The hotel is a 20mins walk from Pefkos not actually 10mins as advertised.this is a bit of an issue at night as 2O mins walk down a busy dark road isn’t ideal. The hotel is very tired and is in need of a lot of work, there’s not many sun beds and half of the one’s there are are broken. The soft drinks are almost undrinkable and one or two of the staff Just don’t know how to smile.
There was a horrible smell near the toilet by the eating outside area and also down on the adults only area, depending on the way the wind was blowing we often had to move as it was overpowering.
It’s in a really nice location on the beach but you do have to pay €10 for a sun bed if you can get one, the food was nice but you had to set your own table most of the time. If you went in after 20:30 you could struggle to find anything, they should have been serving until 21:00 but on a couple of night they started clearing away at 20:40.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel ,that’s a pity as it could be a really nice place.

Dear Valued Guest, We would like to Thank you for choosing Sunrise Hotel for your Holidays. We also appreciate the time you took to share this review of your experience with us, which I have carefully read and taken all of your points seriously into consideration. I am truly sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations in this matter and I assure you that we will put all efforts into improving our services. Sincerely regret the inconvenience caused because of the lack of the Sunbeds and for the tired as you mentioned hotel. For your information, the Hotel will be renovated during winter time. I would also like to mention the issue about the bad smell around the hotel's grounds, this problem is generally around the Pefkos area specially after the big fires. The drinks at the A/I are local in very good quality, actually we never had any complains about the Drinks taste during the season and especially for our staff's attitude. Actually we are very proud for all our staff who work extremely hard by going the extra mile for our guests' satisfaction and there is always a smile on their faces. The extra charge of 10€/sunbed comes with a free cocktail from the Beach Bar (where only International Branded spirits are served). The Main Restaurant serves daily from 07:00-10:00 Breakfast, from 12:30-14:00 Lunch and from 18:30-21:00 Dinner. Our Buffets are always full until the last minute of Operation. Kindly accept my apologies that we failed to fulfil your expectations regarding this aspect. Once again, I would like to say that we do appreciate your comments and despite the shortcomings mentioned in your review, we sincerely hope to welcome you again to our hotel. Kind Regards, Hotel Manager Vasilis Nikitaras

We felt very comfortable here. We liked the location of the hotel with direct access to the beach as much as the restaurant from which you can look directly at the water. The service is very friendly and attentive, the communication works easily in English, with some employees also speaking German. The food is varied and especially at Greek Night also typical of the country. Important to know: 2 beach chairs incl. umbrella cost 12€ per day. You get a cocktail voucher for that. Wi-Fi is also weak or unavailable in some areas of the hotel. Didn't bother us much, though. I see the only flaw in the very loud music that echoes from the beach bar and sometimes made it difficult to fall asleep well after midnight.

Such a shame because the location of the Sunrise hotel is perfect. I never complain or indeed post reviews but I feel I have to on this occasion. It's the attention to detail that frustrated our stay in the Sunrise hotel. Positives first: Lovely location and the evening entertainment was decent in comparison to what I normally see in all inclusive hotels. Cleaner was nice.
Now for the negatives: Family room was a joke. No privacy from our 14 year old son, lack of wardrobe and drawer space and we were tripping over our cases all holiday. We did complain about the room and they took our number and said they would look into it and call us if a more superior one came available. We never received a call.even to tell us there wasn't one. The staff can make a place but unfortunately nearly all staff are miserable. The pool bars were a joke. I drank beer from paper coffee cups most of my 10 day stay as there was even a lack of plastic beakers. You were even lucky if you got a glass at night. The choice of all inclusive drinks were the worst I've encountered on all inclusive too. The soft drinks were awful and the water was like sea water. Thankfully you could buy water from on site supermarket. The beach bar was a payment bar which we also found strange.
The young lads on reception we found rude and unhelpful. One night after drinking beer in a coffee cup all day I actually fancied a coffee at around 10:45 and was told he couldn't serve hot drinks after 10:30. Another pointless complaint at reception cos they're not interested. I would of liked to have spoken to a manager but never one on site.
Meal times were chaos and it was a game of spot the plate to actually get your meal. A massive lack of crockery and glassware which is inexcusable.
The food was ok on most nights but if you left it late then forget it.
I think everyone in our party also got cuts on our feet from uneven or broken tiles at the bottom of pool. Again unacceptable.
I have been coming to Rhodes for the last 5 years but this holiday has really put me off. I certainly won't return to Sunrise hotel.
Most of my complaints are trivial and could easily of been resolved but there is no leadership here and the basics arent covered.

Dear Guest , Thank you for your detailed comments. We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations and would like to clarify some points. We understand your dissatisfaction, but it is mentioned in all travel agents that there is a charge for the sunbeds on the beach and there is an extra charge at the bar. The all-inclusive package includes alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from local producers, depending on the guest's tastes and is not comparable to branded drinks. Drinks and Water has all the necessary certifications. For safety reasons, the use of glasses is not allowed in bars next to swimming pools. We would also like to mention that the coffee is closed outside the restaurant at 18:00 in the afternoon but guests can enjoy it until 23:00 in the evening at the pool bar. We are sorry that you are not happy with the room, but at times when the hotel is full, we cannot let guests move to another room than the one they have booked. The hotel management is at the hotel daily and is available to any guest if they need to report anything important that they feel has not been resolved. Sincerely Sunrise Management Team

Hello!
Hotel Sunrise, Lardos, Rhodes hotel has a +16 area nearby pool and sea. The hotel's All inclusive is until 11.00 p.m. The beach bar is chargeable and open later.
I had nice vacation there with my husband this month.
I highly recommend!
Hi, there aren’t many beds around the main pool and you will need to get up early to get on. You might be more lucky around the adult pool. The sun beds on the beach will cost you 12e a day for 2 beds and a parasol.
We have already booked to go back in may 2024 and booked through love holidays my sister has been five times and booked through them everything on their site is accurate and had no problems at all its a great holiday I wouldn't book swim up room pools and beach lovely so save your money is my view hope this helps
