We stopped there because we were on our way home and needed something to eat. The food was so-so, my pie was hot but that tasty, my wife's meal was quite small. We didn't leave a tip. To be fair, the kitchen had only just opened but the service was quite slow.

So disappointing, waitress delightful but landlord arrogant - not at all welcoming. Food ok but my fish pie was supposed to be topped with cheesy mash - no cheese and mash just mush - could have done with a spoon - just liquid. Worst fish pie I have ever tasted! Fortunately for them they didn't ask if we enjoyed our... More

I needed to find somewhere convenient to meet up with my adult kids for some lunch. The Three Horseshoes is about mid-way between us all, so I booked it for Saturday lunch. I am so glad I did. The staff were there when you needed them and not when you didn't. They were all (including the landlord/landlady) very friendly, polite and... More

Great place to come and meet friends for either a drink and or a meal. The food is very good, especially the specials but the rabbit pie is exceptional . Friendly and sociable atmosphere, and very welcoming staff. If you're feeling a bit cold then they have very nice open fires

I had a room for three nights at The Three Horseshoes and would highly recommend it to anyone. Hosts Gill and John are very kind and helpful and welcoming. The room (double bed with en suite) was quite large, very nicely done up, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and excellent shower. (The one drawback I could see was that there... More

We booked this place several days ago for lunch. My mother in law has walking difficulties so was important access to get inside the pub and thew facilities inside was convenient. We explained all this at the time of the booking and were given a large table (4 adults) with great access. The pub is reasonably sized with good decor... More

We stayed on a farm near the pub during October. 3 visits in the space of a week gives an indication of how much we enjoyed it there. Very good food, well priced and great hospitality. Well worth a visit .

This is a nice old pub, and the food is really good. I stayed there a couple of times for work reasons, but had to ask to be moved because the mattress in room 3 was so old that I could not get a decent nights sleep. The room could do with a lick of paint too! This is a pity... More

Despite a lovely garden and warm welcome the brewery owned pub, which seemed to us to have been taken on with high hopes maybe a few years ago, was now tired and the food very average. We were staying for 2 nights (Sat and Sun) and though the room was a good size and the bed comfortable with crisp white... More

Pubs can be daunting when they're popular locally, so it was excellent to receive a warm greeting from the lady in charge. The dinner was very well cooked, the service most attentive. 'Pub food' can mean almost anything, but here the chef really knows how to produce a decent meal one can enjoy without hesitation.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A traditional pub with over two hundred years of history. The Three Horseshoes is located in the beautiful countryside of the South Downs National park in East Worldham, just outside Alton. Friendly and welcoming, The Three Horseshoes is hugely popular with walkers, families and with dog owners. Inside the comfortable pub has roaring log fires and flickering candles in winter. In the summer, there is a beautiful walled garden - hidden away for you to relax in the sunshine, savouring a long cool drink. Its mature shrubs, surrounded by the old forge outbuildings, offer a peaceful world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Three Horseshoes' menus are of the highest quality, balancing the hearty flavours of good traditional British eating with a more refined approach, the result being sophisticated but satisfying dishes to suit all tastes. Wherever possible the kitchen sources produce locally for use in not only the main menu but in light bites , daily changing specials and home-made traditional desserts. For those travelling to dine, you might consider booking a room for the night - The Three Horseshoes provides five letting rooms and space for motor-homes in the car park. ... more   less
