We have just spent a week at this amazing hotel! As a family of 4 we had a twin room with annexe which was plenty big enough- our double bed was enormous and the kids had 2 converted sofas. The room was cleaned every day and was spotless. The fruit platter was much appreciated. Whilst the lifts and funicular railway was confusing to start with, we soon got the hang of it. The buffets were plentiful and delicious and varied and a special mention to Peppe our waiter- who was super helpful and knowledgeable and spoke English impeccably! He was full of fun! The pool bar and Olimpo bar were both well stocked and another special mention to Michele who was very helpful and amusing. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a family holiday!

First of all we had done our research before choosing this hotel and where it was situated, there is no excuse for not knowing what you are going to, please use google maps, read reviews. We knew about the hotel and area we were going to having done this research and all about the area and situation of the hotel. How to get to other resorts on the island as we enjoy using local transport. We had a room with a balcony and sea view and it didn't disappoint, the only surprise was that there were only four British people in the whole hotel the week we were their. This was fascinating when watching mainly Italians and Russians on holiday. How they eat at breakfast and Dinner as we were Half board. The Food was good and again fascinating watching how Italians mainly eat, having Prosecco, espresso and cream buns, many more pastries and fruit for breakfast, being British we still had cereals, toast, scrambled eggs and sausages. At Dinner we had plenty of hot choices pasta, meats, fish, salads, risottos, staff were always welcoming and available to help and always very friendly, and look out for Peppi in the restaurant a lovely man and very helpful. For the first time we always found a sun bed, and people who reserved theirs were in for a shock as the life guard clears towels if left but checked first if you were around by blowing a whistle, this was funny to observe and but yippee, it was good to see for people looking for one. We enjoyed our time, navigating the many lifts but would recommend doing everything, meals and using lifts early as the later on in the day it gets very busy. We found lunch time the best time to get a sun bed so would go off exploring first and then return to the main pool around 1pm but they have plenty. We visited Mount Etna and Stormbli, amazing but be warned other than the British they don't cue for anything and you may find yourself having to push your way through, scary at times especially getting on boats but wouldn't of missed it as Stromboli was putting on a lava show at sunset for us. Thank you Sicily and the Hotel Olimpo for a lovely holiday and plenty of memories.

Stay away from this hotel if you don’t want to ruin your holiday! We were dissppointed from the first minute of our stay. We asked for an extra pillow five minutes after we arrived but were denied one until the next day. Then we asked if we could have duvets instead of thin sheets and were told «ofcourse!» only to get disappointed when housekeeping came and told us there were no duvets in the hotel at all. The hotel is obviously open during the winter. Do guests sleep in thin sheets all year around? Must be freezing! The beds are unbearably hard to the point were sleeping was just impossible some nights. The airconditioning in the room is extremely loud and noisy. Coffee and tea in the room is not re-filled. We were stuck in the elevator for 15 minutes after a short power shutdown in the lift. No one answered the alarm calling system inside the elevator and we had no cell service on our phones inside the lift. We were helped when other hotel guests tried calling on the elevator from a different floor. When we adressed the problem at the front desk we were told they thought the alarm sounded from something else and had therefore not checked on us. By the hotel pool where one normally would like to relax and lounge, they play loud electronic music and have water gymnastics in the pool 3 times a day where young italians scream into a microphone over super aggressive electronic music. The pool area is not suited for guests with no kids who wants to relax. The breakfast buffet is just disappointing. I had a look over at what the call «the vegan corner» and found cold steamed green peas. All I can say is that I felt really sorry for the vegans... I also got yelled at by a waitor for putting my toast in the wrong toaster. At lunch I ordered a salad and were disappointed to find my salad was a pre-made meal that had been taken out of the fridge with plastic wrap around. I was served this salad 10 minutes before my boyfriend was served his toasted sandwich that was not hot all the way through. People usually like to eat at the same time, wouldn’t you think? Last but not least the WiFi is expensive and why on earth someone would think to charge their guests for WiFi in the year of 2019 is an utter mystery to me. Please take your hard earned money and book your holiday somewhere else if you dont enjoy hard mattresses, sleepless nights and aggressive music by the pool at a hotel that really could use some renovation and modernization. 30 years ago this would have been great I guess.
