This is a very Eco-friendly camp site. 4 meter wide furnished & carpeted bell tents are provided with an awning, mounted on raised decking. You also have a firepit for your camp fire & bbq-ing, eco-stove for boiling water etc, and a wooden camping table with umbrella. There is also a large water container and cool box with ice packs...

I didn't think I liked camping until I went to Wild Boar Wood - I'm converted! Visited a couple of times last year and couldn't wait to return this year. Beautiful bluebells at the beginning of May! Highly recommend.

Another enjoyable visit to this lovely campsite!! Arrived in the sunshine on Friday evening and had a relaxed night around a roaring campfire. Started the day with a bucket shower using the wood burner for hot water. Then went on a brilliant walk which took a few hours through fields and woodlands, stopped in Lindfield for a pub lunch, and...

At first when we arrived the weather was blue but then we met the owner, his name was Hue! Ok! That's as much poetic writing as I'm capable of. Well anyway you guys did good love the place. And as a visitor I didn't realise just how much equipment you had covered at camp, even a cafetiere in every tent....

Stayed at this campsite last summer and was impressed so came back to enjoy again and it didn't disappoint! Loads of improvements since last time, great hosts, relaxing surroundings and clean comfortable tents despite the heavy rain one night. My 2 1/2 yr old son loved running around in the fresh air and eating all the wild blackberries. We'll be...

This place is wonderful! Not having camped in years (2 man throw up tent at festivals, pre-children, being the last time) we took our two children, boy 3 & girl 21months, back in July and had an amazing time. It's everything it says it is on the website, and yet it's so much more than that.....yes there's no electricity and...

I spent a weekend at Wild Boar with my family and friends, 3 adults and 5 children in all. We had a fabulous time despite some really mixed weather. It's a very well run campsite. We were welcomed warmly by Amy and Pete who helped us transport our stuff from the car park to the campsite. The campsite is a...

This campsite is an absolute gem. It caters for both families and larger groups as well as those wanting a little more of their own space. Every small detail has been considered, from wheel barrow collection from the car park to carry your kit to the site, logs and fire pits ready for cooking or relaxing around an open fire...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Wild Boar Wood Campsite offers campers real off-grid woodland camping in our pre-erected Bell Tents. (For tent pitches and more bell tents please go to our Beech Estate Woodland Campsite page) The nine fully equipped Bell Tents are set in a beautiful campsite with open campfires, within a five acre bluebell wood in the heart of Sussex. Our woodland campsite is located in the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Bell Tents offer a unique, off-grid, holiday 'eco-camping' experience and are set apart in the trees giving solitude and privacy from the outside world. The camp is located in West Sussex near Haywards Heath, close to London, Brighton and Ashdown Forest. Wild Boar Wood Campsite offers an opportunity to camp side by side with nature, whilst enjoying the comfort of our tents, with beds, cooking equipment, open fire bbq grill and a firewood allocation. It's off-grid camping made easy! We prefer not to label our fully equipped bell tents as "glamping" as we have no butler service, silk sheets or hot tubs. Rather we provide a real camping experience made easy, with just about all the camping equipment you should need, all set-up and waiting for you in a lovely campsite in the woods. We have a permanent warden onsite to assist our campers at all times. The campsite is ideal for families and groups, to reconnect and renew friendships, or chat with fellow campers around the campfire. Full campsite bookings are also available for that special celebration. The two 'faraway' tents offer a more secluded option, tucked away from the main campsite, for couples and families wanting their own space. Wild Boar Wood and its surrounding 40 acre field teem with wildlife; birds, butterflies, deer, rabbit, hedgehogs and foxes make their homes in the field, hedgerows and woodland. Close by the woodland campsite, the River Ouse meanders through the countryside, offering delightful and scenic walks along its banks to the welcoming local hostelries. The peace and tranquillity is interrupted only by the historic and spectacular Bluebell Railway locomotives as they occasionally thunder past the edge of the woodland campsite! We operate a small scale quiet, relaxed and laid back campsite. We don't allow amplified music and have a low noise policy from 10 pm in the evenings. Dogs are not allowed to protect the native flora and fauna. We have an area for car parking which is a walk away across the field. Cars may not be driven to your pitch. We aim to provide camping in the woods not in a car park. Wheelbarrows are provided to move your equipment to the pitch (and the warden will assist if you need it). It may be a 5 minute walk - but it's worth it once you set up not to have cars in the campsite. Much safer for children as well! As we state we don't offer "Glamping" in our Bell Tents - but rather a real, off-grid camping experience in the woods. The local Council, as part of our permission to operate within the woods in an AONB, dictates our site facilities, their size, our infrastructure and the amenities we may offer. Keeping every item we provide in our bell tents in mint condition in a woodland is difficult. Using resources for their full lifespan is our ethos and a necessary practise in our small business. We endeavour to provide clean, practical equipment and facilities, within the confines of our planning permission and the environment in which we operate. ... more   less
