We had some soup and kaiserschmarren. The food was OK, but the service was not. The waiter showed little interest in us and when he served us he looked as if somebody forced him to work. The restaurant and the surroundings were very pleasant though.

We’ve been coming to Jufenalm for many years now, both in the summer and winter. As we stay in Maria Alm, we take the lift up and take a beautiful walk to the Jufenalm lodge. This year, we had planned to stay most of the day, rent bow and arrows and do their archery course through the forest. But, when we arrived, the waiter let us know that it wasn’t possible today because the man who has the keys to the archery supplies is not working today. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed and expressed this to our waiter. He felt terrible, but there was nothing to be done about it... But, a few minutes later, a man came to our table and asked if we were the ones who wanted to do the archery course. Somehow, our waiter made it possible (he later told us it took many phone calls). We were thrilled. Thank you, Hans, for going above and beyond and finding a way to keep our fantastic plans. We very much appreciated it and this gesture will keep us coming back to Jufenalm!

Came here with a party of 27. We went on the toboggan run first. 2.5 kms in the dark and through the forest. Occasional lights added to the Adrenalin rush!! We loved it. At the hotel, we had opted for ‘Haut Essen’. Basically a conical freestanding cooker in the centre of the table lit by some lights underneath. They should have lit this first but we got huge basket of bread, loads of dipping sauces, huge plate of herby new potatoes, amazing chips, fresh salad and a plate of uncooked chicken, pork and beef. You speared the meat and attached to the hooks on the conical cooker. There was a tray around the cone with beef stock in it for you to baste your meat. So you cooked it for as long or short as you like. It was great fun and much hilarity all round. The vegetarians on our table got spinach dumplings which were huge and very filling. All in all a great night. There was a lot of meat and potatoes left on our table so we were kindly obliged with tin foil to wrap up and take home. At 27 euros each it was great value for the experience. Service was good, place spotlessly clean.

We walked from our Huttendorf chalet till Die Jufenalm. 1h each way, pleasant and simple walk. Once there, the zone was heavily snowed and the views of all surrounding mountains and valleys were great. We took a break and enjoyed some goulash suppe. Service was fair, it feels like a big large hotel and restaurant more than a cozy hut. Worth spending one morning if weather does not allow skiing.

For an authentic ski experience in Austria Jufenalm is the place to go. The hotel is high up, great views and it's own sledging slope. It is not in the village, so be prepared to use the hotel as the base from which to go skiing and back
