One night at the Torrenerhof was relaxing. This hotel seems to cater more to families with it's all-inclusive plan. Dining for guests on this plan included breakfast and dinner buffets. We ordered from the menu and had a decent meal. Breakfast the next morning was nothing special, but it could be a good affordable option for families. The Golling Waterfall is a short 10 minute walk from the hotel. We had a difficult time finding the hotel because of road construction in the area. But once we turned off the auto navigation and followed the street signage, we were fine.
Picked the hotel for its location close to highway. As discovered later, there is a waterfall nearby. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to reach it. The hotel itself is composed of 2 buildings across a street. Also, a camping place is right next to the hotel. The room was standardly equipped. Service at front desk was a friendly old man. There is an open shower in the bathroom. As a result, water stays on the floor which is quite uncomfortable. Door to the bathroom was also unusual: semi-transparent and slidable.
The room was a disgrace. There were holes in the sheets, a light cover that was broken, bed supports missing, some sticker on the headboard not to mention the bed was so uncomfortable. The bathroom had mould all over the room and the shower was broken. There was no tea or coffee facilities and the 'playground' was an accident waiting to happen. Food was basic and overpriced. The area is amazing but there are so many other brilliant hotels in the area to chose from.
The surroundings is Marvelous, the air is clean and pleasantly cool even in the heat. The building itself like a traditional local style. Some renovation is already due. But the rooms are clean and silent. The waiter is a bit oldstyled and bearish. The food is generally ordinary, nothing special, some food seems to be ok! The local beer is not my style. The grüner veltliner table vine is light and bracing with soda spritz...
The Location is great close by the waterfalls and Bluntautal valey. The hotel was clean, small kids playground, in 2019 was reconstructed. We wanted a change of the room because of bunk bed, and there was no trouble with that. The receptionist gave us 5 keys and said "have a look and choose". Food was fine, even our small kids (2 and 4) didn´t like it much. Recommending - go to spa in Golling, super pool.
We wanted to stay in an old austrian hotel to feel the atmosphere after having been to such an amazing hotel in Germany. This was a disappointment. From outside the building looks nice an Australian. We came a bit late, around 20.30, and asked if we could eat. We were told yes at the reseption, however the waiter at the restaurant was obviously angry for having to serve us that close to closing time which probably was 21.00 He didn't even say thank you or goodbye for being tips. We tried to enter the bar but were told in an impolite way that the bar was about to close. Why close a bar that early? We could come with more details, but I am not an complaining person, so I leave it. The surroundings are beautiful, but the service is low, very low.
Although the previous reviews ranged from good to bad, we didn't know what to expect. However, I must say that everything was adequate to the price range. One cannot expect 5-star services in a 3-star hotel! The room we stayed in was renovated and clean. The food was delicious and overall we had a pleasant stay. There are a few things I would improve, though. For example the pillows were awful, very low with very little filling. Also the shower was strangely built. It was in the corner of the bathroom with no curtain or any kind of wall/glass partition so the splashing water was all over the floor. On the other hand, the rooms were tidied and cleaned every day, the food and the selection was very good.
I visited the hotel for 1 week. We Only managed to stay 5 nights out of 7 we paid. Dirty room, they never changed the towels, the beds were not comfortable, for breakfast they only had the worst salami ever, the butter was expired and they refused to change it, as it “was frozen and the valability was prolonged”. The butter should not suppose to get frozen. :(
Me and my friends were here for one night in December at the time of Advent. The room had four beds, although we only needed two, so we had extra space. In the room we had tv, bathroom, desk, 2 chairs and huge balcony. We have 2 clean towels per bed and everything was great. The only drawback was that the shower did not have a curtain to prevent the flow of water while showering, the shower being in the height of the tile in the bathroom with only a drain and it was neither elevated nor separated, so it was necessary to be careful. View was great. There is also a free WiFi but it slow. But all in all, everything was ok and would return.
Nice location (have been there many times during winter time for skiing holidays. The hotel is old fashioned, but good value for money. Did not spend much time in the hotel, only in the evening for dinner time. Not much options for leisure activities during the day. Food is also good and in big quantities (for all-inclusive offers). Close to nice skiing areas.
