Let me start by saying the Hotel Manisses is absolutely beautiful. I have been traveling to Block Island for 34 plus years, and when I became engaged on Block Island in Nov 2019 I knew the Hotel Manisses was a top contender for wedding venue. In February 2020 I sent my first email to both the general mailbox and to Kristen who was listed on the website under the event planning tab. Crickets. I knew it was the off season and no one was on site but I figured someone monitored the emails. Once the hotel opened up for the season in June, I sent another email. This time I received a generic auto response that stated “we will respond to every email and phone message as soon as possible.” Once again I heard nothing. I sent another email in the beginning of July, same auto response. Later that day I received a email from Kristin, how’re the message was blank. I responded that there was nothing in the email and once again requested information. Crickets. After a week of no response I called the front desk. The woman who answered with very friendly and after I explained how I’ve been emailing for months, I would be on Island in late August and what I was looking for she apologized profusely and told me to send another email and she would make sure it was forwarded to Kristin and she would personally let her know I was calling/emailing. Once again crickets. A week before arriving on Island I once again called and was greeted by a lovely woman who again apologized, located my past email and stated she would forward to Kristin. I once again heard nothing. So I forwarded my last email and stated how I still haven’t heard anything and would like to set up a meeting while on island. I finally received a message from Kristin but it was copy and pasted info from the website, nothing new, and no attempt at a meeting. So while on island I showed up and “met” Kristin, just to be informed that due to Covid they wouldn’t be booking anything for 2021 until after Columbus Day. How difficult would that have been to email earlier?!? As upset as I was my heart still loved the Manisses and we decided to have dinner a few nights. We sat at the bar. During the dinner the computer system went down and the male left the female behind the bar by herself so he could mingle with other bar guests, clearly he knew them, but she needed help. She called another waiter over to check on us, I put in a glass of wine but he turned before my fiancé was able to put his order in. After 15 minutes still no wine. The food was meh. Presentation was nice but the food itself lacked any flavor. The raw bar items we got were barely shucked. Between the lackluster dinner experience and the absolutely terrible customer service and lack of communication with staff, I sadly won’t be back to this once Island favorite until there is new management.

Not as expected. The place seems to be running on auto pilot, no one at the front desk most of the time. Stayed in room two a strong sewage smell coming from an abandon drain in the bathroom floor. The rooms require tweaking. No coffee for early risers. I wrote to the management over two weeks ago with suggestions and I have not heard from them yet. Just another example that they really don’t care once they get your money. Overpriced. Hoping it was going to be my new go to place, but will not be returning. Had major difficulty using my gift card. Will definitely be returning to the outside dining area food was excellent.

My husband and I spent our anniversary celebration at Hotel Manisses. We enjoyed the Victorian feel. The open air dining in the garden was magical. We had a romantic dinner outside seated by the fountain with live piano music. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and the setting was unforgettable.

A perfect dining experience at the Hotel Manasis. We had dinner under a tent in their beautiful gardens. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was so delicious, especially the lavender lemon pound cake with berries. We have a yearly dinner while vacationing in Block Island and it is always a pleasant evening. Highly recommend.

We overall had a good stay at hotel manisses Good things: -It is a great location, very walkable to town -One of our rooms was bigger than expected and had a great bathroom -The patios are great and very spacious -Staff is nice -the grounds are BEAUTIFUL! The yard and patios are gorgeous! Not good things: -the wifi at this hotel is TERRIBLE our daughter was trying to register for an online course and it took FOREVER we ended up hot spotting from our phones -some of the attention to detail you’d expect at a place this price is lacking: furniture seemed random (only 1 bed side table lamp, REALLY uncomfortable rope material rug in the room) staff is often absent and amenities are lacking -the walls are very very thin. Every night when were trying to sleep it seemed like the people above use were starting aerobic tap dancing lessons with their screaming children. This is something that may just be par for the course with an old place but.. consider bringing earplugs I’d recommend this place overall for the location but it has some downsides
