I had a wonderful experience staying at the Hotel Manisses, as expected. The staff on-property was wonderfully warm and welcoming. They made the check-in and check-out process a breeze, and were very kind and helpful. Overall would definitely recommend highly - awesome location as well so you can simply walk all over the island and to downtown shops. Loved this stay!!

Hotel Manisses has a great location just up the hill from the bustle of the Old Harbor, so quieter but very easy to get to/from town. We picked a great room - it was quite large with two queen beds and a huge balcony/deck overlooking the back garden and restaurant seating area. Very spacious, however it was expensive. The room needed some tweaks - more lighting in the bedroom area right by the beds for reading, some lamps there (we saw some in the closet that were likely going to be installed). Other small things were needing some TLC but otherwise it was a great space and the deck was awesome. The front desk was efficient but lacked a certain friendliness and they did not tell us about different things the hotel offers, like coffee in the morning in the lobby etc. The restaurant there is delicious and also pricey, it’s great sitting in the garden for a meal. Overall a wonderful visit!

The hotel staff was beyond amazing since I first booked and contacted them. I was traveling to propose and they helped when I was preparing the trip. The restaurant was unbelievably good, we were happily surprised with the quality of the food. The hotel staff was great enough to decorate the entire room with flowers and champagne at no extra charge after the proposal. The room was very clean with a nice balcony. I hope to return one day, thank you all for providing excellent service and going above and beyond to make our stay something extra special.

I actually started my BI trip out at the Beach House and, goodness was that a mistake (see separate review for BIBH), and was thrilled when I was able to get a last minute room at Hotel Manisses. Upon walking into the lobby, with the coffee bar and scented water available to guests and the absolutely beautiful and ample seating area, I knew I'd made the right choice. My room was spacious and very well appointed -- there was a lovely supply of snacks and wine for purchase in the room, a lovely tiled large bathroom, with a deep, clawfoot tub. And, perhaps best of all: I ventured downstairs for dinner and sat at the bar and felt like I was transported back in time where the customers chatted happily with the friendly and welcoming bartender. The hostess actually came by to check on me and ask how my meal was. And the food (oysters and lobster bisque perfection) was superb. I'm so glad I found this place and advise any first-time travelers to read the reviews of any potential hotel and not get sucked in by their tricky photography -- this place was the real deal and I will definitely stay here again.

I randomly came across Block Island and the Hotel Manisses and it became exactly what I was looking for for my solo getaway. The booking process was super easy and the follow up was great. From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed. There is an intoxicating scent that lingers as you enter the front door. Some sort of light floral bouquet of delight! Every single one of the staff are lovely, welcoming, helpful and genuinely friendly. I work in the service industry so I can tell when people are nice because they have to be or nice because they want to be. This hotel is so delightful BECAUSE of the genuine staff. Not to mention the little details, modern yet traditional decor and the option for extras in your room. I got fresh flowers in my room upon arrival and it made the space that much more beautiful. It was a comforting cocoon away from the busy town but close enough to walk in 5-6 minutes. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. I am an avid traveler (I spent 3.5 years solo traveling Southeast Asia) and I have been in a myriad of hotels... too many to count! This hotel ranks in my top 5, easy. *highly recommended*

Such a great location! The grounds are so beautiful and charming, I wish it would have been warmer so we could have enjoyed the outdoor space more. The staff was friendly and accommodating and had no issues with the front desk. We ate at the restaurant downstairs; Block Island Oyster Bar&Grill and it was absolutely delicious!

Pros: The grounds are beautiful and idyllic and the location is ideal, just a short walk to old harbor. Nicely decorated with understated elegance. Cons: Very poor service from front desk/FOH. I’m a return guest, and upon my first visit I was quite disappointed in the service but hoping that it was just a fluke and that with feedback and time these issues would be resolved. Unfortunately, that was not to be. The front desk experience is not only underwhelming, but there is one employee in particular who is downright rude and condescending. You aren’t welcomed, it feels quite like being in a queue at the DMV. They don’t provide any information about the hotel (restaurant, hours, amenities, the fact that at a certain time the entrances to the hotel lock and there is no on-site service should anything go awry. There is a phone number you can call.) There were two names on my reservation; despite this I was only given one room key. When I asked for an additional key I was flat out told no. I thought she must be kidding. I wasn’t feeling well, and was turning in early. My friend, the other person on the reservation however, was going to meet with some friends for a bit. While feeling pretty unwell at this point, I once again explained the situation and requested a room key of her own so that I could go to sleep and she would still be able to get into the hotel and also our room. The woman at the desk cut me off, and rudely said no, she couldn’t give me a card, but provided no explanation, even when I explained the situation (which i shouldn’t have even need to). I couldn’t wrap my head around it, so bizarre, not mention egregious. So I stayed up as long as I could and then called my friend to come back so that I could let her in downstairs and to our room. I recognized this woman from an earlier stay, when I originally noted the poor service. Why is this person still working in this position? She clearly doesn’t believe in the concept of client service and her attitude turns a beautiful hotel, on an island that stands apart for its easy going, friendly, and unpretentious character, into an unpleasant stay.

The hotel and restaurant have a great location and a beautiful setting. We went for a later dinner and sat outside on the beautiful secluded patio. What was disappointing is that the portions and quality of the food did not match the price. Three oysters for $18.99? The side order of lobster mashed potatoes had minimal lobster, most of which was the cartilage from the claw. At $13.00, it was almost an insult. Yes, we understand that when visiting a resort town like Block Island during Covid, you expect higher prices, but poor quality- No.
