This inn was a lovely, spacious and well furnished. The breakfast was terrific with a nice variety. The grounds were pleasant and their is ample seating outdoors to relax. Everything was clean. Sue was very helpful in getting us settled. It was not our first trip but our first stay at this inn. The only glitch for us is that there were some guests that appeared to be regulars and one of them played guitar during breakfast both mornings. It wasn't to our liking and not at all morning music. It was hard to converse. Some other guests looked at us and rolled their eyes. We wondered why it was allowed. We would certainly go again but would ask if the guitar player would be there and if so we would pass.
Stayed here for 2 nights in room 10. The view from the room was phenomenal. Very spacious. Breakfast was good. The owners very friendly and knowledgeable about things to do on the island. Just a lovely inn all around. Highly recommend. Just a note. It is slightly under one mile walk from the high speed ferry to the inn walking slightly uphill. Plan accordingly
My Wife and I had a wonderful stay at Payne's. From the check-in to the room and the free breakfast, everything was welcoming and first class! The Inn is also centrally located yet peaceful and relaxing. We will be returning!
Recently visited Payne’s Harborview Inn on a trip to Block Island to celebrate our 25 th wedding anniversary. The Inn is very nice with stunning views and in a great location walkable to the beach, town and restaurants. Our room had an amazing view of the harbor and the breakfast in the morning was nice as well. When our reservations had a mix up leaving us with nowhere to stay the last night of vacation, Sue quickly found us a nice place to stay and even drove us there. We enjoyed our stay at the inn and on Block Island and would come again.
I've been going to Block Island for over 25 years and usually stay right in Old Harbor....usually at the Manisses or the 1661 Inn or Spring Hotel. This was my first time staying closer to New Harbor which was beautiful and less than a one mile walk into Old Harbor. Upon checking in, we met the owner who was absolutely lovely. She took her time in showing us around the inn and also giving us information about the nearest restaurants, beaches, and activities. On the plus size, the room was huge (900 sq feet!), very clean and had a jacuzzi tub in the room. Lots of windows and beautiful views. However, we were diappointed that there was no AC and the t.v. worked but only had a few channels. The continental breakfast was lovely and included a couple of hot items, such as eggs and ham. The coffee was delicious. Another negative, however, was that although they offer free WiFi, it is not available in your actual room. To go on my computer, I had to sit in the lounge area or out on the porch. Would I stay there again? Probably not due to the lack of AC and Wifi. We also happen to be there on a particulary muggy and humid weekend.…
