What a Beautiful place! The staff are amazing, and so is the food (yum!) Quaint, comfortable rooms, shared baths (common in historic hotels), Right in the center of town and on the beach. I can't wait for the chance to go back. :)

We stayed here with my husband and small child in a room with an ocean view. They accommodated us with a pack and play, which was good, though my husband and I were both told separately while making reservations that they could put a railing on the twin bed in the room. They then told us upon arrival that they... More

Had a great time at the surf. The food is excellent an so we're the mudslides. You can't beat the view from the back deck. The staff was friendly. It was clean. Our room needed a little updating. Love the lobby an the whole feel of the place

Found this hotel thru reviews online and was not disappointed! Historic hotel keeps its charm, with original décor. Keep in mind this place has shared baths, but we never had to wait and hardly knew anyone else was there, even though the place was booked! Fantastic views from the room and spent great time at the hotel bar!

We were on the island to celebrate my husband's birthday and our 24th wedding anniversary, we chose the Surf Hotel restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Having checked out the restaurant and spoke with the hostess before hand, we were told they don't take reservations for 2, but will be seated on a first come, first serve basis. Arriving for dinner... More

The room is small with a corner sink. However this is in the heart of the Histoic Area! Big enough who is going to stay in their room all day! You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner there very convenient . The prices are a little high but take into consideration you are on an Isand and everything has to... More

So the first thing you have to accept when you stay in this hotel is that it is a very old hotel that is right smack in the middle of the historic district. This means the hotel won't have very common amenities like air conditioning or tv. Unfortunately you have to also accept that their are shared bathrooms through the... More

I've been going to Block Island for many years now, usually staying on board my family's boat. This time my husband and I decided to stay the night for a little getaway at the Surf. The Surf has the best location in town, it is simply a gorgeous spot overlooking town and the ocean. The outdoor bar and dining are... More

Excellent food. Creative without being weird. Charming and eclectic inside. After a couple year hiatus, the Surf is reopened, and better than ever. Go, eat. Return. It's an icon, your trip will not be complete without a stop here.

Visited this hotel over the summer and for what we paid, it was extremely uncomfortable. The beds were not comfortable at all, our mirror had scratches all over it so we had no mirror, the carpets were dirty, dust on everything, and not accommodating at all. We had forgotten a blow dryer and not even someone behind the front desk... More
