Property's Favorite Review
We stayed here for a very fun girls’ weekend. The Inn is in a lovely historic building but the accommodations were bright (lots of windows), spacious, and very modern! My room (#10) had lovely views from every window—even the bathroom! The property is beautiful and common areas are roomy and comfortable. The Inn’s location is terrific—close to everything but also peaceful. We hiked, saw seals, went into town, drank and ate to excess, laughed a lot, and had a ball! I hope to be back!

This was our third summer visiting the island and our stay at Old Town Inn provided the best experience by far. Our wonderful experience was due in large part to the hospitality of inn keeper Neal whose friendly, out-going personality, and passion for his new B&B started our days with a positive vibe and ended it with a friendly smile and his delicious fresh baked cookies. The newly renovated common area and guest rooms blends island feel with a hit of international flavor.
The central location is ideal for getting to all points on the island and an evening bike ride for dinner in town. At first we were worried that the airport would bring noise, but that wasn't the case. It was quiet and we kept the windows open every night for the island breeze.
The expansive yard offers many activities if you are looking for a quiet day of lounging; corn hole, croquet, hammocks, and an evening bonfire are all options during your stay. The lovely architecture of the inn, yummy breakfast, prime location, and the many other attributes of the inn attracts friendly guests that add to the chill vibe of this quaint inn.
The inn is dog friendly and our quiet, little pup loved the treats from Neal.
A must stay!

My husband and 13 year old daughter spent two nights at the Inn. We were blessed with great Weather on the island but we also picked a superb place to stay. Every thing was perfection- The fresh seaside decor, the crisp white linens, the fluffy navy towels so thick and plush , the great bright newly redone bathrooms , the common areas , the large yard and gas fire pit , breakfast in the morning , the pineapple juice- so fresh ( was I on Kauai ? ) I can’t forget the surprise of a warm cookie in the evening . We loved having the availability of the mini fridges to use at the wet bar in the common area. Bed was comfortable and so was the single pull out sleep my daughter spent her nights on- she usually complains about that, not this time. Neil was such a pleasure and so welcoming . I wish him and his family a huge success with the incredible inn.

This was my first stay at the Inn, and it far exceeded my expectations. The new owner, Neal, was there to greet us upon arrival and was always around to ask if we needed anything any time we were at the Inn. At all times the CoVid rules were in place as well which made us very comfortable. He and his family have done a spectacular job remodeling, so the place is all new, clean and beautifully furnished with both old and new pieces. The grounds are very pretty, and there is great outdoor space for sitting, eating and lawn games. Our breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and Neal even made us chocolate chip cookies in the evening! Our rooms and bathrooms were all new and comfy. We especially loved the towels and pillows! We can't wait to get back there again as it was one of the best island experiences ever, and we've been going over a couple of times a year for about 35 years now.

I would never stay here again or recommend this place to anyone. I paid about $300 to stay in a room in a house where you can hear everything right through your door. It was 10:30 pm Sunday night and a father was horse playing with his 10 year old child in the lobby screaming and banging around and we could hear all of it from our room upstairs. My fiancé had to ask them to be quiet. I don’t know how that behavior is acceptable with the staff especially at that hour when guests are trying to relax. There was no phone in the room or even a TV to settle down at night or even just fall asleep to drown out all the noise you will inevitably hear from other guests. That was honestly the least of our worries. The fact that there was no air conditioning was completely ridiculous! They said it had just been installed the day before but it did not work so we had to sleep in the humidity, not to mention the mattress must have been 30 years old because it was unbelievably uncomfortable with springs you could feel in your back. The pull out sofa bed is a 3 inch prison pad only a very small child could maybe be comfortable to sleep on overnight. What a rip off! Never again..

Response from Neal Murphy, Owner at Old Town Inn

I appreciate your feedback and clearly we didn't meet your expectation so my apologies! However I would encourage you to do more research before staying in a family run B&B, which is NOT a hotel. Since you took the time to give me your feedback, I would also like to respond to your very detailed comments: Yes, you reserved a room in a B&B, which is typically a residence that also has rooms for rent. I am sorry it felt like a house but that is what it is. Our quiet time was 10:30pm so the family that was enjoying their stay were within the time perimeters. However ,we have subsequently moved quiet time to 10pm so that we don't have this issue in the future, so appreciate your thoughts. As for phones and tv's in the rooms, that is not the norm for a B&B and we don't advertise anywhere that we have phones or tv's in the room. However, had you called the Inn number, which is next to my bed, I would have gladly walked out to asked the family to quiet down or move outside. Unfortunately, when a guest does not make us aware of an issue at the time, there is no way to correct this issue to your satisfaction, after the fact. Nowhere on any site do we advertise that we have AC, nor does the 2021 rate reflect AC. Many B&B's on the Island don't have AC, as typically it is cool at night with a breeze so people like to sleep with the windows open. Also, I am actually the cheapest place on the Island other than the Narragansett but they have shared baths. The night you were here it was 65 degrees and it was 75 during the day. We supplied an extra box fan in addition to the ceiling fan and for most guests that has been sufficient when it is that cool! Unfortunately, the gentlemen that installed the AC was off island and there was no way to fix it, even thought it had literally just been installed. The good news for other is that the AC has been up and running since you left. My apologies that the Queen bed was not big enough for the two of you. Had you shared you would be using the Twin pullout couch (this is how the room is advertised) we would have given you the extra thick twin mattress pad, sheets and blanket for the bed, which could have made for a more comfortable sleep. Again, had you spoken to us at any time during your stay, we would have been happy to give you extra bedding. As for the queen mattress, I asked the prior guest and the 2 subsequent guests after your stay and they shared that they "slept like a baby". However, I will watch and see if other comments are made about this and then maybe invest in a new mattress. If you ever decide to stay in a B&B again, I would suggest that you call in advance to learn about the facilities so that you have a full "lay of the land" before your arrival. Lastly, I am glad that you enjoyed your day bar hoping on this Island and sorry that you missed breakfast!!! As you can see from the other guest comments, we take pride in our breakfast and this could have sent you on your way in better spirits. I hate when we miss meeting a guests expectations however I would encourage you to do more research when booking via a web booking agent, as all the specific details were on the Booking.com site. All the best for a great rest of the summer! Cheers, Neal

The Old Town Inn, Neil the proprietor and his dog Addie was more than we could’ve dreamed of for our overnight stay/anniversary week visit. From the reception, to the incredible grounds, amazing breakfasts, incredible value and five star personal service from Neil and his staff it was an amazing visit - only a mile from old harbor and the ferry, we felt like we were many miles away from the hustle bustle of the day trippers downtown , but not too far on bikes to enjoy the pubs and shops. We would recommend Old Town Inn for anyone looking for a beautiful location, incredible service and amazing value - we can’t wait to go back and do it all over again. Thank you and kudos to everyone in Old Town Inn. The Legers’

We spent four nights at the Old Town Inn on Block Island. It is located on a beautiful, quiet property just down the hill from the airport.
We had rooms on the first floor and made use of the living room with its wood burning stove in the evening.
There are many decks with seating on the property, as well as a fire pit for cooler evenings.
Neil, the owner, is the perfect host. He goes the extra mile to insure his guests feel welcome. He even picked up a surprise birthday cake my husband ordered. His suggestions for restaurants we great, as he has a wealth of knowledge about the island.
There are many places to stay on Block Island, but you will not do better than staying at the Old Town Inn.

Neal and his staff work hard and this hidden gem sparkles! The location is perfect. As other reviews have stated, you're far enough away from the hustle and bustle to unwind, and just a 5 to 10 minute cab ride to anywhere you'd like to be. The walk to town takes about 20 minutes. The grounds could not be lovelier and they are ample places to hang out and feel like you might be the only guests there! The room was renovated and quite spacious with a great walk-in in shower. The lemonade and coffee station is a nice touch and the breakfast they provide is a great start to the day. Tip regarding location: I would suggest bringing your car over (fully gassed up) or renting one if you plan to move around a bit. In bad weather, this would be a better choice than the multiple cab rides we took or getting wet on a scooter or bike.

Wonderful experience at the Old Town Inn last weekend. Beautifully kept with lovely grounds. Clean rooms and bathrooms (and all common areas had lots of hand sanitizer and wipes). Neale and family work very hard to make the guest experience second to none - and he cooks a great breakfast to boot...They are most helpful and advise where to go and what to do on the island so that the guest will have the best experience possible. Highly recommended for both couples and/or families. We will be back.

The new owner, Neal, made our visit to block island and amazing and wonderful experience.
Everyone at the INN certainly aims to please! The place has been recently renovated and it shows how much thought he has put to the INN.
The rooms were spacious, bright and airy. Bed was huge and comfortable with a newly renovated bathroom. There is a lot to do in the backyard as it has spacious seating and lots of yard games to keep you entertained.
A homemade breakfast was served and perfectly portioned and delicious!
Looking forward to revisiting sometime this year again, and in the future!

Sorry for the delay,
There weren’t bikes when we went . He had them on order but still didn’t get them. I would call and ask. Having bikes would make all the difference in staying here again. We had a wagon full and waked it from old harbor.... took a taxi when we left.
There are not however we will have two common area fridges for guests to use.
Cheers,
Neal
Yes they do. But it is extremely slow on the island.
