I went to Block Island with a local tour company. We stayed at The National Hotel, which is on the National Historic Register. There wasn't any air conditioning nor elevators. We knew that going on this trip. I went with a girlfriend of mine. We requested an ocean view, which they stated would not be a problem. When we arrived,... More

I would like to start by thanking you for coming to Block Island and staying at the National. We have been hosting your tour company for many years now and certainly appreciate that. And I am sorry that you were disappointed in your room. One of the hardest parts of hosting a tour group in a historic property like ours... More

HOTEL’S FAVORITE REVIEW
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2016

We needed a one night stay on Block Island and found this place among the possibilities. Booking was easy. Had a great experience here. Spent the extra money for a corner Queen and it was well worth it. Nice views of the harbor and the foot traffic. The bed was unspectacular but comfortable. Cool breezes through both windows. Adequate bathroom... More

My wish the day we visited Block Island is to eat lunch while sitting on a restaurant with the view of the ocean. Price and food did and matter but we got lucky. We had a lovely view of the docks in the front patio. My cold lobster tail sandwich was delicious. My son enjoyed his clams with alfredo sauce... More

Great location, nice staff, breakfast was good and the bar decent. Very nice outdoor patio as well. Compared to other hotels this time of year the price was the best. Yes, the hotel is dated and the rooms are very small with no AC however you get what you pay for. We stayed overnight during a very humid heat wave... More

Finished our day with a lovely dinner on the deck with a great view. The drinks were great and the food we ordered was very good. we were waiting for a ferry and wanted to take our time and relax. They were very accommodating.

My husband and I have stayed here several times because of the great location! Just a short walk from the ferry and right on the main road. We are always greeted by great staff. Room is pretty basic, but hey, it's an old hotel. We were in a queen room with an ocean view and it was very hot, despite... More

All of my screen savers for years have been from the outside bar looking out, the staff is great, and lunch has always been enjoyable. Plenty of tables on the porch and a bar outside with a great view and another bar with plenty of tvs inside.

Please note I rated the national hotel based on our on island options. Not against a holiday inn or Westin. The national is an older hotel with some older carpet, furniture, and bathrooms. There is no AC and we were in the 2nd floor which I was nervous about the noise but it wasn't bad. And they shut down any... More

We were invited by the placard at the bottom of the steps offering Sangria. My wife be a self admitted Sangria Snob was drawn in for a sampling. She was not disappointed. Great Job. Food was very good as well. Fish and Chips outstanding. Of particular note was the cole slaw...Absolutely fabulous and one of the best I've ever had.... More

Thank you so much for dining with us and writing about it. We actually just played with our cole slaw recipe to improve it and it is really nice to have someone notice. It is fairly simple using a basic coleslaw dressing but the chef adds fresh parsley, garlic powder, salt and pepper. We look forward to having you dine... More

Great service and very pet friendly. Some guests smoke in the pet area :( and bring their own food and wine!!! Management needs to keep a better eye on guests - the staff is excellent. Attentive whether getting a cocktail, wine, apps, or dinner. Excellent food if a bit pricey.
