The Spring House Hotel, built in 1852, is Block Island's largest and oldest hotel. Set atop a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean as well as the spring from which we take our name, the property provides views which cannot be beat. Being a ten minute walk from Old Harbor, the Spring House provides an oasis which can be enjoyed from our Adirondack chairs, wrap-around porch, and East overlook patio. Great pride is taken in our seed-to-table mission in both of our two on-site restaurants. Three gardens and a greenhouse provide fresh produce creating delicious dining options on both our Dining Room and Bistro menus. Simply choose your preference of formal or casual food and setting upon arrival. Indoor and outdoor seating is available for both. Between the Main Building and the Mott House (an Annex Building located 20 yards away), there are 50 hotel rooms to rent, ranging from 1-bed standards up to studios and suites. Two apartments and four houses are also available to rent on property, as well as off-property Town Homes. Block Island thrives during the summer, between Memorial Day and Labor Day. During this time, all of the above-listed dining and hotel options are available. Outside of this time frame, the Dining Room menu is closed. The Bistro menu remains open along with the Main Building Hotel from April through October. The Spring House Hotel provides a beautiful setting for weddings and special events which are frequently hosted on the weekends. In the effort to provide our nuptial couples the exclusive setting, our food and beverage outlets may be closed during these events. During the off-season (November-April), the Main Building Hotel is closed and only our Barn Suites and Houses are available for rent. Last winter was the grand opening of The Barn Restaurant, providing an intimate dining experience Wednesdays-Sundays for dinner only. The restaurant, fitting only 30-35 patrons, features an open-concept kitchen and a truly unique experience.

Visited Block Island for the 1st Time on July 31st. Booked Dinner at the Spring House as a few Friends recommended it. We started with Drinks on the Front Lawn overlooking the Water. The Service and Quality of Drinks were great. We had a Waitress serving us (From Croatia-Cannot recall name) who was awesome. She checked on us frequently and was very pleasant. We had Dinner on the Porch overlooking the Water. We had a great experience. Marko was our Server and he was spot on. He was attentive and friendly. Service was great. For Dinner we had Clam Chowder followed by Spaghetti with Clams (White Sauce). The pasta was cooked to perfection (lil Al Dente) and the flavor of the Clam Sauce was delicious. Overall between the scenery, Service, Food and Drink I would highly recommend a visit for anyone looking for a a Great Dinner experience. We will definitely return to the Spring House.

If you’ve never stayed in a hotel that is truly five star, than I suppose people would mistake this for a superior place to stay. The location is five star, and that’s where it ends. We booked a “suite.” There was debris on floor when we entered the room. Bed was uncomfortable, head board moved, WiFi was spotty and only worked in the living room. No television in the bedroom, no room for your toiletries in the bathroom, no hand towels close to sink, their soap, shampoo, etc. were sub-par, and then we had dinner… I ordered the app special-eggplant rollicking-it was inedible. My husband ordered the scallops as did our friend who dined with us. They could not eat them because they smelled way off. They were afraid they would get sick. All the way around, not a good way to spend $$$$$$ Maybe we’re snobs and are spoiled, but when you spend more than $900 a night for a room, and the establishment says its five star-than it better bring its best game.

We stayed at a surrounding property so I can’t speak about rooms. We went to the outdoor bar and loved it! On out first night there was a piano player on the lawn and it was so festive and charming. The food was delicious!! On out second night there was a one man violinist on the lawn and he was also very good. We had the fig pizza and was not a fan.

Lunch at the Spring House was a huge disappointment! Probably the worst lobster salad roll I have ever had; minced lobster meat and such a tiny portion. The calamari had fried zucchini and fried hot peppers; very strange concoction. How do you get calamari and lobster rolls so wrong in Rhode Island. Lastly, the smallest drinks (vodka and tonic) imaginable, the water cup was much larger. On the plus side, the view and atmosphere was amazing and Frances, our server was completely attentive and wonderful.

An amazing historical island property with stellar staff. My spouse and I had our wedding here last week and Tanya, their Wedding Coordinator could not have been better. She was so nice, constantly proactive and oh such a delight to work with. The staff couldn’t have been more amazing. I highly recommend this property, without reservation! This is apart of a classic island experience that is not to be missed!!

We have always liked lunch on the porch and have stayed here as well. The service was good, the view fantastic as usual. They have a delicious mango laced ipa, but the meal disappointed. Shrimp cocktail that are described as colossal were 21/25, not 15. Heirloom tomato salad was made with plain hot house tomato. And calamari with added fried zucchini was disaster on a plate. They should leave that off. A RI restaurant is judged by its calamari not zucchini.

We've been to Block Island many times but this was our first stay at the Spring House as we had an elderly relative with us so needed a proper hotel. Unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming given the high price of our 2 rooms in the main hotel. The rooms were clean and renovated nicely but there was just one small dresser that needed repair, a tiny wardrobe for hanging clothes, and no place to put toiletries in the bathroom; the hairdryer was on the floor. The a/c was good and that was a relief. One of our rooms had a mini-fridge, the other did not (same price). You had to pay for the "grab and go" basic breakfast, which were mostly foil wrapped egg sandwiches that they brought out to the terrace for you, disappointing especially given the price of the rooms. The internet service went out for almost a full day while we were there. It is sad that they close the main dining room now as it used to be an elegant place to dine and looks tired. The inside and outside bars are very good and the staff are friendly. The view is unbeatable and sitting on the veranda is very pleasant. The location to the harbor and the views are the selling points here but the attention to detail for an historic hotel is sorely lacking given the price.

A perfect relaxing fun rental for a family and dog. Our Golden Reteiver and our grandkids all enjoyed the house, the Inn and proximity to the town, beach, animal farm and lighthouses. The staff was most accomaodating and the setting overlooking the water from the Adirondock chairs on the sloping, grassy hillside in the front of the Spring House is magical. The restaurants (caual and upscale) are exellent...as is their pizza! We have been stating there for the passed decade and will return next year!

Have you ever walked into a bar and noticed your hands were rubbing against each other like you found a jackpot? We were only in Block Island for two days and the food and service was so good, we ate dinner two nights in a row. Wine list was spot on. Bartenders were fast and nice. The people around the bar, also fun to talk to. So we went back the following night and had a drink on the huge porch, before going into the bar area.
