Went in November with my daughters and daughter in law for a 40th/60th birthday weekend and had a fantastic experience at the inn. The customer service was excellent and our room was bright and clean with a fabulous view. They were super helpful with a list of restaurants that were open in November and tips on what to do including where to see seals and what taxis were best to use. Also they have a nice breakfast included, complimentary cocktail hour with cheese and crackers. We can't wait to go back.

Property's Favorite Review
I've been coming to Block Island for many years and The 1661 Inn has been and remains one of the most peaceful and accommodating inn's on the island. The view(s) from any spot; back porch or patio, high up on the deck of the Guest House, or gazing out at the Atlantic from one of the lounge chairs in the yard are spectacular. Since the Covid-19 pandemic the Inn has been a safe place to vacation - staying within the protocols of the state. This year they stepped up once again with their wonderful breakfast, fresh vegetables from the garden, lovely flowers and the just in time 4-5pm cocktail hour! Rita and her staff are super friendly and amazing. Looking forward to my next visit!

Our Boston based yoga group just stayed at the 1661 for our 7th retreat. Apart from the spectacularly beautiful setting of the Inn, what makes this Inn very special, is the friendly and hard working staff. The owners are almost always onsite and are available to answer any questions and solve any issues that come up. Our group was spread out around the property, I stayed in the Anchor House which is just down the street from the main inn. My room was charming, clean and quiet. The bed linens were high quality and attractive. Other members of our group were happy with their accommodations as well. I love that the inn is within easy walking distance of the ferry, but is away from the “downtown” and situated on gorgeous grounds facing the ocean, Breakfast is beyond amazing, fresh fruit and eggs, French toast, salmon, homemade bread and muffins…An afternoon complimentary happy hour is included as well, really lovely to sit on the patio, sipping wine and looking out at the ocean. I am already looking forward to next year.

Loved our stay at the AnchorHouse and daily brunch at the 1661 Inn. Room was quiet, comfortable and centrally located; use of the nearby 1661 Inn and the daily brunch was a real treat. Owner Rita Draper is a fantastic, friendly and helpful host. Her staff are very outgoing, friendly and helpful as well. We definitely will stay at the Anchor House, the 1661 Inn or other related properties again.

We recently came to Block Island for a wedding and stayed at the Dodge Cottage. The location was perfect, the room was so adorable and clean and the service was exceptional. Can't wait to return to Block Island we will definitely use one of the properties owned by the 1661. Our only regret was not trying their famous brunch.

A group of us who used to work together gathered in BI at 1661. Great base. The location offered fabulous views of the ocean. It was perfect for our group as not everyone had a car - walkable to, yet a bit removed from town. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous with fresh vegetables from the garden (and wonderful nasturtium). We gathered daily for the afternoon cocktail hour and had a special dinner prepared by the 1661 team. Fabulously warm service - Rita who owns the property is a gem and a great resource if one wants to learn more about BI. Highly recommend both as a place to stay on your own or for holding special gatherings.

Had the only unrenovated room on the property. Horrid bathroom with dangerous floorboard problem due to leaky moldy shower. Hot tub didn’t work. Peeling paint and wallpaper everywhere.. Owner knew about this room and booked it anyway & charged us top dollar. We complained but she didn’t do the right thing with ample discounting for this awful room. We will NEVER return. Customer beware: Always ask for renovated rooms when visiting this property and don’t accept ANY room that doesn’t immediately look right.

I loved the 1661 inn, I stayed at the Dodge Cottage and had breakfast every morning at 1661. The breakfast is wonderful, the workers are so helpful and the owner of 1661 was there every day checking in on the guests and making sure everything was good. I LOVED the 1661 Farm, the animals are so sweet and seem to be very well taken care of. I’d definitely stay here again.

This family-owned hotel takes pride in the details, from flowers in the room, pleasant and professional staff, chairs on the lawn overlooking the ocean to a location that is very close to town but not. This is a great hotel. One of my favorites. Not only are the rooms very good they have a beautiful garden and a 4:00 wine and snack get together daily. Another plus for me is it is a short walk to the hustle and bustle of Old Harbour.

This was my (maybe) eighth visit to the 1661 and I keep returning because there is nowhere else on the Island I care to be! Not only are the rooms impeccably clean, but the staff is courteous, helpful and friendly. Rita is so sweet and approachable. She is so friendly, my husband is convinced she knows us, though I do my best to convince him we are only two of thousands of visitors a year, she is THAT hospitable! Thank you AGAIN for such a wonderful stay 1661! Can’t wait to return!!❤️ R LaFlamme
