We were nervous staying at a hotel during the pandemic; however, Bellevue House seemed to take a lot of precautions that made us feel more at ease. Our room had a private entrance which was great, and they took the time to make individual picnic baskets with breakfast for every room. It was a great touch. We have gone 2 years in a row and hope to return in the future.

This past weekend was our second time staying here, and it's just the absolute best. Warm, welcoming staff at all times. Cute, recently renovated rooms (we always stay in The Teddington), and a great location 5 minutes outside of town (walking). The breakfasts they deliver to your front door every morning were unreal and quaint beyond words. Will absolutely be back next year! Can't recommend this place high enough.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Block Island B&B, and if you’re not renting a house for a longer visit, this is my favorite place. I’ve been coming to the island my entire life and have stayed in expensive hotels and cheap hotels, and this is my sweet spot. The staff are so lovely, the breakfast baskets are delicious and innovative, different every day and made with local ingredients. We just feel so relaxed and at home here, and all the other guests seemed to feel the same. Can’t wait to be back next year!!!

We stayed at the Bellevue House for four nights in August, in the two bed South Apartment. The Bellevue is a cute B&B, and our unit was recently updated. It’s a short bike ride from Old Harbor and there’s a small general store nearby. We had an issue with our room, and the innkeeper quickly rectified the issue the next day. Much appreciated! Bonus: there’s a zedonk (half zebra, half donkey) across the street at the Block Island “zoo.” Also, Mohegan Bluffs are a 1.5 mile bike ride away.

My fiancé and I enjoyed our stay very much! The staff was polite and the breakfast baskets were fantastic! Bathrooms and hallways were cleaned multiple times a day and had disinfectant for guests to use. We felt comfortable and safe while we enjoyed the beautiful island. We would absolutely stay there again!

Just returned from a three-night stay at The Bellevue in the Teddington Room. The accommodations were lovely -- clean , bright, charming. I've stayed on BI several times and this was far and away the best lodging. AC and updated rooms like these at a reasonable price are not easily found. The setting (close to downtown, but on a hill with sea views) and delicious & plentiful breakfast set it apart. The staff, especially Hannah, could not be more welcoming or professional. Must dos: rental bikes for an easy ride to the Southeast Lighthouse, Mohegan Bluffs, New Harbor and Fred Benson Beach. Rent kayaks from Pond and Beyond or, better yet, sign up for a tour. Dinner at Dead Eye Dick's (best lobster rolls and donut bread pudding -- amazing!) and lunch from Persephones. Save some time to spend on The Bellevue's porch or front lawn with a book. It was a bit of a paradise in these crazy times. Masks are required and the staff is taking all precautions. Felt very safe.

Very disappointing weeklong stay with a large group. The place is for sale and the owners clearly haven’t invested a dime in keeping this property in good shape. Rooms are TINY. Our kids could barely even open their door because the room was so small there was nowhere to put their suitcases. It’s dirty. Bugs and dust and cobwebs everywhere. Old sheets, blankets, towels, shower heads, you name it- overall it’s just not comfortable or nice. Cheap and mismatched furnishings. Our room didn’t have AC (most do) and they charged us $150 for a window unit for the week. Felt ripped off - the place is extremely overpriced. They did provide a very good breakfast in a basket to the rooms that don’t have a kitchen. And the staff was very friendly. The photographer who made this place actually look nice online needs a raise. Definitely find somewhere else.

Response from Cariona Corcoran, General Manager at The Bellevue House
Responded Aug 9, 2020
Hello 'thecat210', I am terribly sorry to hear you were not pleased with your stay. I am even more sorry that this was not brought up to us after check in, or before your mid- week clean so that any cleanliness or furniture issues could be remedied. While my life has changed since purchasing the property at 24, now married with multiple children and a desire to be closer to all our family overseas, my decision for sale has no bearing on our day to day operations, and no guest should ever feel as though it does. Your friend contacted me in January about a group of 22, after being sent all descriptions and prices the person in charge of booking decided which units to book. At that point, he decided how cost was split up amongst yourselves, rather than each individual paying the cost of their rooms, he chose to split it evenly per the number of people in the party, thus allowing all to pay an equal amount- rather than pay based on amenities and size of room, which is how we charge. At that point, January 9, the room descriptions were sent to each member of the party and an explanation of how the group leader chose to charge, based on a per head split, rather than per unit, how your party was charged. Each member paid their portion and the stay was confirmed. In June, the accommodation descriptions, which clearly state all amenities, including AC, or lack there of, were sent from myself to the group and your group assigned whom would be staying where, we had no choice in this. Your room is priced significantly lower than other rooms, as it has a shared bathroom and no AC. Rooms, apartments and homes with kitchens, AC, larger in size etc. are all priced accordingly, and this detail was sent to your party multiple times. Your party was given a discount, and even though when booked for 22 guests, a week prior to arrival it was made apparent that some of your party forgot to include their adult children in the count, and, at no additional fee these additional group members were accommodated. If you were unhappy with the charge your friend assessed based on an even split amongst all 22 in the original, that, unfortunately, is out of my control. We price based on amenities, and the cost you paid was a reflection on your groups decisions, something I have no control over. When you requested an AC, we did have to get one from the mainland, and with electricity being extremely expensive, your room is not priced at the additional cost of an AC for a week, there was an additional charge. The photographer is myself and my office staff with our cell phones most of the time, we have had a professional come in and shoot some of our properties, but as we continually update, install new furnishings and upgrading and or changing our shabby chic decor, many photos are taken in- house. All photos are a true representation of each individual room, apartment and home and match that of the description with amenities on our website and emailed to you multiple times. In the future, travelling with a large group of friends, ensuring you have the correct number of people in your party as to whom will actually be traveling and potentially paying based on how the hotel/ vacation properties are charging rather than splitting amongst your group evenly- even though amenities of units booked are not equal- may result in you not feeling ripped off.

Bellevue House is a great inn located close to town but quiet enough to enjoy the surroundings. The staff is very friendly and accommodating especially during Covid. The breakfast usually served in the breakfast nook arrives at your door in a picnic basket. You then have the choice to eating wherever you want, room, porch or we took ours to the beach. It was the best. Rooms are very clean as well as the shared bathroom. The only drawback was the AC. The window unit was a little noisy.

Great Inn! Clean comfy air conditioned rooms. I had a room with a shared bathroom and it worked out fine. Never had to wait for restroom. Only 3 rooms share the bathroom. They had cleaning supplies to sanitize when you went in and also had a notice that they would be sanitizing in between as well. I loved the breakfast they provided. It was super cute! They delivered it to your door in a picnic basket in a time frame you requested. It was a delicious mini egg frittata and juice. Great location close to everything and reasonable priced room!
