I attended two wakes in a matter of three months, my parents. I have to take my hat off for how well everything was. In March the Orangery was very good, but it improved in June after more redecoration. The food and service was brilliant with the food being replenished and tidied for great presentation. The staff even brought in a huge TV so I could play a photo montage from my laptop. I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone else.

I was about to write a full review about our weekend stay until I read the last review from June, they have said exactly everything I was going to. Lovely grounds and place but christ the hotel is outdated, new carpet required, new paint job required, new bar required, new toilets required etc etc In terms of the room, as soon as the shower is on or the toilet is flushed the whole room shakes and a the pipes rattle. No air con either so I pretty much slept out of the bed on the rock hard pillows. Could be something special, but it isn’t.

Has potential to be an incredible hotel but has unfortunately become severely outdated. Location and grounds are stunning, however the inside is very dated. Food was better than expected, service was ok - all the staff were lovely but would say it's pretty slow. No air-con in the rooms which was a problem, my room had a ceiling fan which was rubbing against itself so I couldn't use it as it was too noisy. It literally felt like there was no air in the room. It also didn't have proper plumbing so every flush of the toilet, run of the tap, shower meant a lot of very loud noise whilst the system drained the water. Awful! Understand a refurb would be expensive however it's desperately needed and could make this place incredible.

We visited for a gentlemen’s afternoon tea on Sunday 16th June 2019. The food was amazing and the children’s tea was geared up for everything a child would like. Outside there was mini golf for dads to play on with their children which was lovely as my son had me time with his dad. The afternoon tea was good value you had a beer or cider or soft drink with lots of savoury snacks and five different cakes with mini scones and of course tea. It was very filling but lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful we will defiantly be going again.
