#1 of 5 B&Bs / Inns in Bromsgrove
Ashborough's Farmhouse is approximately 400 yards from Old Burcot Lane and is set in the middle of a 100 acre farm. Surrounding the house are fields of wheat or barley depending on the season and sometimes other crops such as oil seed rape and linseed.Ashborough's Farmhouse is of ancient origin and is mentioned in the doomsday book, although at that time it was called Ashburg and was one of the tithes of the manor of Bromsgrove. Immediately in front of the house are 3 lakes which were originally fish pools maintained by the monks at Stoke Abbey just south of Bromsgrove. In the 1940s the lakes were dammed and deepened to serve as irrigation reservoirs for the farm. The farm still continues as a working arable farm and machinery may be seen on occasions cultivating and treating the crops. In August or September a huge combine can be seen on the farm cutting the crops.Ashborough's Farmhouse as it is was built on the present site in 1950 and replaced an earlier house immediately adjacent. The house was modernised and extended in 1982 and has been further modernised and extended in 2012. It now provides en suite accommodation to the highest standard and set in tranquil surroundings. The nearest house to Ashborough's Farmhouse is half a mile away and so it is truly individual. There is an indoor swimming pool attached to the house which guests are welcome to use. It has its own changing room and shower and is a good size being 11M (35ft) x 5M (16ft).Breakfasts are taken in either the magnificent new farmhouse kitchen or the adjoining dining room. There are 4 en suite bedrooms available to let in the house (out of a total of 6) although only 3 are let at any one time as this gives guests flexibility. All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities and are en suite with new bathrooms which contain a power shower, bath, toilet, basin and bidet. The shower is over the bath and a grab rail is provided to assist getting in and out.One bedroom (Wheat) has a king size bed and the others have twin beds which can be converted into super king beds. All of the beds have high quality Sealy or Vispring mattresses which guarantee a good night's sleep. Additionally there are TVs, hair dryers, full length mirrors and a desk. The desk has plugs for computers and wifi is provided free of charge. The rooms are described below:-Damson - This is a twin/super king double room overlooking the irrigation lakes.Apple - this is a twin/super king double room overlooking the swimming pool. It also has a two seater settee with a large television.Wheat - this is a double room with a king size bed overlooking the fields to the rear of the house.Barley - this is a twin/super king double room overlooking the fields to the rear of the house.

I made a booking for 4 rooms in January for our annual family get together in June. This was confirmed by Ashborough Farmhouse in writing. I then booked and paid for tickets for the 3 Counties Show for the family who are all coming from different parts of the UK. On 27 Feb I RECEIVED AN EMAIL TO SAY MY BOOKING HAD BEEN CANCELLED. There was NO EXPLANATION and NO APOLOGY. With 4 months to go it can't have been due to a death in the family so I can only assume they have gone bankrupt as why other would they renege on our contract. This is really upsetting as now we (7 of us) have no where to stay. Because of the show, everywhere within striking distance is booked up. It is complicated by us needing 4 rooms. We have paid for tickets for the show which we now will not be able to go to and so we are out of pocket. I have tried repeatedly to phone them but get no reply and I have emailed but have no response. At this point I have to say that we are very respectable and have never had problems before with hotels or B&B's. I don't know if they have gone bust and therefore, maybe I should be a bit more charitable or if they are simply blocking me. They still have a live website and appear to be taking bookings. So what to think? We have been treated very shoddily and I certainly would not recommend them if they feel it is OK to take and confirm a booking and then to cancel it without reasonable explanation, compensation or help to find alternative suitable accommodation. This is bad business practice and apalling customer service.

Stayed two nights while attending a wedding nearby. This place is outstanding. It was spotlessly clean throughout, it has a swimming pool indoor, we stayed in the Barley room, it was very nice but the strawberry room my friend's stayed in was superb. You have a menu to complete for your choice, and time of breakfast which is very good by the way. The farmhouse is isolated in the countryside yet not far from anywhere you may need to use. There is a harvester pub just a few minutes up the road if you need to eat, only breakfast is provided, however. You are given local take away menus and allowed to use the kitchen facilities. The wifi is free and very good. There is a barrier that blocks the access after 8pm but you have a fob on your room key to operate it and you will be instructed on remote use from the kitchen should you need to let anyone out. There is a large lounge for guests use. The staff are so friendly and will do all they can for you. This is easily the best B+B I have ever stayed in, I recommend it. 5 star, I am not able to find the slightest fault.

We stayed 3 nights and could have booked more. A very friendly welcome. The farmhouse is just a few hundred yards off the main road but you can't see another house. A few minutes drive gets you to several restaurants (we ate at the Indian, and it was brilliant food with friendly staff). Our room was large and lovely with views of the fields. Breakfast is cooked as you sit at the large kitchen table, so couldn't be hotter of fresher. It was all beautifully cooked and presented. We highly recommend Ashborough.

I stayed one night here and what can I say....Chris the host was very welcoming and the standard of the room and overall experience was excellent. Lots of little touches that really make a difference. Fresh milk in the fridge in my room, good standard of biscuits, surprise chocolate bar, most comfortable bed and great views. Breakfast was very good though slightly let down by wet poached eggs. I travel a lot with work and this is by far the best b&b I have stayed in. Will definitely go back

I have just come home from a 2 night stay in their single room. Never before have I been made to feel so welcome. The farmhouse is off the beaten track and has lovely views of countryside. I had a single room with en-suite. The room was lovely and I was given fruit, hot drink sachets, biscuits and chocolate, which I didn't expect. The bathroom was spacious and clean. There was a tv with DVD player and the bed was incredibly comfortable. I was shown the living room to use at my leisure and there was a heated swimming pool, but sadly I didn't have time to use. The breakfast was huge and really nice, served with fresh coffee and fruit juices. Staff went out of their way to welcome me and I would happily recommend this place to others...it was peaceful, idyllic and fantastic value for money
