What a disappointment! I ordered the Japanese Katsu Curry with Panko chicken. The steamed rice was so yet to approach al dente that I almost broke a tooth! The Panko chicken was an ordinary snitzel (no Panko crumbs in sight), clearly cooked to deploy to the Mexican, Hawaiian and Parmigiana on offer at short notice, and the Katsu had no flavour of curry at all even if the colour could have been extracted from washing army fatigues in overly hot water. The ‘slaw’ was just salad greens, with a few fussy bits; but it was fresh, generous and worth some of the money I paid. I know it’s pub food; I don’t expect haute cuisine. But I don’t expect faking it either. Serve what you say you are serving and be judged on that, not on pretending to something you are not offering. An honest feed is an honest feed, mate. Not too much to ask of an Aussie pub.

We ate here on the Easter long weekend and although the place was very full, the service was quick, the food tasty and the service was excellent. The meals are reasonably priced considering the large size of the main meals. I had the coconut pano crumbed prawn salad which was good but you better like rocket lettuce as there was lots of it. Pretty noisy with lots of young families in there so not the place for an intimate dining experience but the food is good and plentiful and the beer is nice and cold. They have Coopers on tap which is always a winner with me

Spent a few days nearby so we were dropping in for a beer or three in the arvo’s. On our last night we come had dinner which was also a good meal. The wife had the fish I had the lamb cutlets. The cutlets were a bit over fried but still ok. The beer garden is a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

Rooms are nice and well-equipped, but for this rate you could stay in nicer accommodation. Having the pub next door was convenient. Air-con struggled to cool the large room. Bed was comfortable and room (1) was quieter than I expected.

On holidays right now and have eaten brekkie lunch and dinners at this hotel. Didn’t stay at their accomodation nearby but looks great for families. The food here is consistently fantastic, absolutely everything has been g8. Really friendly staff and cater to it seems almost everyone. Lots of large tv screens with all sports you could want. Looks like a fave for locals and tourists. Never too busy they serve fast and plenty of nice indoor and outdoor places to relax and eat/drink. A highlight of our Byron holiday!!
