I did feel as though I had arrived at the home of the Adams family, somewhat difficult to find and a little hidden away, I suspected that I was the only guest, apparently there were others which I never saw. That said the reception was very pleasant, accomodating and polite, I was upgraded to I assume the honeymoon suite, the room and bathroom were clean, very good quality and comfortable, room had very good views. Down side was there's no restaurant which meant taking a walk into the town with very limited venues of curry houses, takeaways or weatherspoons available on a Monday night. The breakfast whilst it appeared well presented the cooked English was rather warmed up,tired and overcooked and I wouldnt recommend it.

The hotel is a few minutes from the M1 . The postcode takes you to a leisure centre and GP health centre but it is not obvious that the hotel is 220m farther up a narrow road. Even when arriving in the car park it is not clear it is the hotel car park, especially as only a couple of other cars in it . On entering the hotel into a large old room , I was immediately presented my bill . When I asked if I could pay it later and put drinks /food on it , I was informed that there was no food available ( not at all clear when I booked it on bookingcom ) It was soon clear there were hardly any other guests and the manager was new and could not proffer any advice about where to go and eat. It turns out the hall is mainly used for events & conferences and it is only open as a hotel 3 nights a week . Anyway the room was large and warm . Nicely decorated with a large modern bathroom . Confortable and VERY quiet. I walked into Alfreton ( not far ) and choice was Wetherspoons or a curry . In the morning the Reception had become a makeshift breakfast room , although the cooked food and the coffee was rather good. My advice is : the hotel and car park should be better signposted & the problem of having no evening food could be helped by a list of local places to walk/drive to in the room. In fact there was no info in the room at all, not even an emergency number to call A semi deserted hotel with a dark car empty car park and no restaurant makes people uncomfortabe so some steps to mitigate the issues would be a good idea in my opinion.

We visited here with friends for an afternoon tea and we were very impressed with not only the food and drinks provided but the service levels were very good and personable. A must for a nice relaxing afternoon tea not miles from anywhere. Give it a try.

We spent one night here as a stopover on our way to a music festival. The room was huge - more like a suite and the bed was comfy and MASSIVE! The wi-fi and TV were very easy to use. There was also a nice selection of herbal teas in the room as well as ordinary tea and coffee. The kitchen wasn't on in the evening, but the receptionist (Mark) helpfully gave us a list of nearby pubs that served food and take-aways that delivered to the hotel. He told us there was a Wetherspoons fairly close by. It turned out to be an easy 5-minute walk. The bar in the hotel served drinks until 11pm. The Oranjeboom was a reasonable (for a hotel) £4 a pint. The breakfast was lovely. They had fruit, yoghurt, cereals and various fruit juices on offer. For the mains, I opted for the veggie full English. I'm not actually a vegetarian but this was definitely one of the better veggie breakfasts I had. My husband chose the standard full English and cleared his plate! The shower was lovely and had horizontal jets as well as the standard vertical jet. The toiletries provided were very nice too. The only niggle in the room was that the toilet was a bit temperamental. It had a short-flush mechanism and a predecessor had clearly been rough with it as the flush felt rather flimsy and didn't always work properly. We took a walk around the nearby park which was nice. Overall, a nice stay apart from the iffy toilet. We would definitely come back.

Great facility, sumptuous food. Staff were polite and on hand. Friendly, but without familiarity. A very popular hospitality business. People use the venue for all kinds of events, including wedding receptions. And these would be people from near and far preferring it on its own or in combination with other local service providers such as the Watchorn Church or St Martin’s Church. Paying them a personal visit to explore what is available and just the beautiful grounds they have should impress, undoubtedly.
