Incredible building, beautiful rooms. Unfortunately the stay was not pleasant due to the staff, probably bad leadership. Rude reception and bar staff, most foreigners who seemed ill tempered and without knowledge. What a pity for this gorgeous place.

Hotel's Favorite
Just finished a fantastic Christmas stay! Loved the hotel so much that we have booked to return next year! The facilities for children are amazing and the location is unbeatable . Both my girls (3 and 6) started the week a bit nervous about skiing and with the help of the ski school instructors, finished the week as confident , happy skiers! It was so nice having the slopes on our doorstep. Loved all the attention to detail for Christmas and the provision for kids - Santa, stockings, workshops etc. The staff across all areas were super friendly and always happy to help. Our suite was excellent - really nicely furnished with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast and the meals that we had in the restaurant and bar were all super ( child friendly plates and cutlery/ cups would be a great addition) All in all a fabulous stay! Thank you Vestlia and kudos to the owners who are clearly very family oriented, which made our holiday amazing . See you next Christmas!

Back in Vestlia ansd always satisfied. We had the same kind of accoimodation : deluxe suite in the lodge part. You have sapvce, a kitchen, wshmachine and it is isolated from the main building. Ther breakfast is good and even we were during the norvegian holidays it was not too buisy and noisy...buyt we take the breakfast early. At the swimming pool perhaps divide in 2 parts : one for the swimmers and one for the one who splash, play... We eat twice in Geilo ansd twice in our room so no advice on the diners...

Great place with lots of activities for the whole family, no matter what the weather is like. Swimming pool with slide and bubbles, bowling, playroom and game room, cinema, great biking trails and tours, climbing park and zip lines and spa is just a few of them. Really nice and spacious rooms. Breakfast is also really nice.

Vestlia Resort is a large ski-hotel located 1,3 km uphill from Geilo railway-station. Built in 1971 the hotel offers 134 rooms over 5 floors. The hotel is practical and pleasant with nice Norwegian art at the wall. Paid station-to-hotel shuttle, good Wi-Fi and free pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. We came on a weekday out-of-season and found the hotel almost empty. The spa was closed. Our room was adequately furnished and decorated, with a good double bed, a bench that can be turned into an extra double bed, TV on the wall, desk & chair, wardrobe & fridge, tea & Nescafé facility, and a balcony with table & chairs. We had a separate bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower. All was clean. The buffet breakfast is good: bread & toast, ham & cheese, eggs & salmon, butter & marmalade, vegan & gluten-free items, orange & apple-juice, cereals, milk & yoghurt, tea & coffee. We tried the half-board. Dinner is a 3-course: fried scallops as starter, tenderloin of lamb as main-course, and dessert. The food was OK. We found the Vestlia Hotel comfortable, and the area is great, but the closed spa didn’t invite us to stay longer.

Although Vestlia Resort reflects the high prices prevalent in Norway, it offers winter skiers excellent access to a collection of enjoyable alpine ski-slopes (well pisted daily) and limited cross-country tracks. The bedrooms have ensuite and are comfortable and well eqipped, many with stunning views. The hotel provides brilliant service by very pleasant, well-trained, engaged staff; excellent food not least the high quality breakfast buffet and beautifully prepared dinners with excellent fish and meat and good vegetarian dishes. The swimming pol and jacuzzi are clean and modern - excellent after a hard day on the slopes. However, the spa was ridiculously expensive: a sauna or massage would have been welcome but was unaffordable. The Gundersen Collection of paintings, drinking vessels and rustic furniture is stunning: extraordinary for a sports resort. Geilo town itself offers little. (But note that the summer walking opportunities are good; although the moorland pathways are not well signposted). All in all, I would definetly come to this resort to ski again.

I stayed there for a conference. The food, service and rooms all exceeded expectations. I was particularly impressed with the courtesy and diplomacy of the night staff. The meat dishes were extremely good even though they were cooking for many people. The desert bar at the lunch buffet was amazing. Even the gym was over and above what I was hoping for. I had a great stay and would love to go back.

This is my second visit to this beautiful and cosy lodge hotel in Geilo. This time I had booked maybe the most exclusive luxury apartment in any hotel in Norway - Penthouse Geilo – a luxurious 180 sq m apartment, 4 bedrooms with double bed and ensuite bathroom, huge living room, a dining table for 12 persons and fully equipped kitchen. See my attached photos and you will understand! The hotel is beautifully decorated and offers a relaxed atmosphere. The scenery around the hotel in winter is amazing, the hotel is spacious and nice with a large lobby, the receptionist was polite and efficient. The check in process was quick. The hotel has a delicate and well-equipped spa and a nice pool, waterslide and Jacuzzi area, so it is ideal for families. Breakfast was a big buffet, good selection and constantly topped up and the dinner was very nice as well. The bowling alley in the basement was a big hit! The best part is that you can just step outside, and you are at the bottom of the ski lift, or right next to the cross-country ski trails. A huge congratulation to Trine Tviberg and rest of the team at Vestlia resort! I am looking forward to seeing you again Regards Svein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway.
