Wasn't sure what we were in for but this trip more than came up to our expectations. Lovely old barge , nicely furnished, ably handled by owner Andy. Bonnie his wife worked hard in the background. All the food served on board was excellent. As everyone mentions her first night Cape Malay dinner was wonderful. She keeps a seasoned eye... More

The first 5 day trip along the Thames, very good weather which help the holiday along. The cabins are a bit small but fairly well appointed, lounge and dinning area well set out. Food excellent and the itinerary was interesting and fairly well arranged. Had problems with water from the diswasher leaking into the cabin on two occasions making the... More

Fantastic Boat, owners and crew and Wonderful food. Andy the boss has lots of stories to tell and is fun to talk to. The Thames, such wonderful wild life and being so close was very exciting. Wonderful break loved it.

Have just come back from a 5 day cruise on the 'African Queen' on the River Thames and it was perfect! On arriving at the secure parking we were met by Gabriel who took our bags on board. We were then treated to a lovely afternoon tea of scones with jam and cream-it was beautiful but so was all the... More

I have been on bigger boats but this is the first time I have been on a small boat on the River Thames and it has opened my eyes to the ultimate relaxing break. A dozen strangers on a small boat in the sunshine (I think the weather was ordered in advance) You will want to know about food: FIRST... More

I have just returned from five days on board the boat hotel, African Queen. It was a most enjoyable, relaxing experience. With only twelve passengers you soon became part of a happy band of sailors. The boat is a converted Dutch Barge with most of the facilities that are found on larger vessels. They are however scaled down in size.... More

Seeing our great national river up close while others do all the hard work was well worth the price. You would be hard pushed to find such a combination of excellent food and under-stated seamanship anywhere else. All we had to do was relax and enjoy. Given our weather can be unpredictable the boat was well fitted for all possible... More

If you are looking for 5-star luxury then read no further. If you are looking for peace, great food, and you have a love of nature and can live closely with like-minded people, then this is the place to be. It is necessary to be sociable on a boat where space is at a premium but 'mien hosts', Andy and... More

An unusual and unforgettable experience. Andy is a very entertaining raconteur, Bonny is a great cook, and Bobby quietly and unobtrusively gets on with, well, everything. He deserves a medal. I expected to rough it a bit, but I was wrong - the showers were hot and the boat was warm and cosy. On the Saturday evening the 14 guests... More

Have just spent a fantastic weekend aboard the African Queen as a surprise for my husband's 60th birthday. We were not disappointed. Welcomed aboard by Andy the captain, a great character. Food absolutely gorgeous cooked by Bonnie Andy's wife. Bobby the crew man worked tirelessly every day to ensure the smooth running of the boat. What a great team on... More
