I stayed here two nights in November 2022 and was completely satisfied. After traveling around Madagascar for several weeks, this was a step up from other locations. I paid 110,000 Ariary and was in the second story of the newer units. The room was very clean and comfortable with high ceilings and a nice open feeling. I had a fan, good shower with hot water, and all that I needed. Also ate in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinners. The breakfast was basic, but it took care of me. Their dinner special of zebu steak was awesome. Some of the better steak I've eaten in any country. I see this place gets mixed reviews, but if I was in the area, I'd seek this place out to stay again. As others have mentioned it’s in a good location for the NP and shops.
Background: Two nights in a basic room here served as a base for my day at Isalo National Park. Pros: Location is a big factor here, it’s literally on the edge of Isalo NP. Adjoining restaurant with edible food. Room was very basic but clean, housekeeping visited while I was there. Bed was just right: not too soft or hard. Staff was generally accommodating. Cons: Overall kind of a rundown vibe…. Not even shabby-chic, just shabby. Pool didn’t seem to be in use. It literally took 3-4 minutes to unlock the door of my room every time I returned; the key didn’t seem to fit. No hot water in the bathroom. The language barrier in the country seemed particularly acute here… I was served two of the same entrees at dinner evidently due to some miscommunication. There were two people who slept in the stairwell (!) my first night there. Hey, probably not dangerous but a bit unnerving. The room (windows and door) was a little noisy/rickety the first night when it was windy. Summary: At about $30 a night it’s tough to extensively complain, but compared to other hotels at the same price-point in the country this was a bit below par. Not a complete disaster by any means but I’d probably look somewhere else if I was in town again..…
The room was big and high sailing. The room was really worn down. The restaurant was like a cafeteria and it closed at 21.00 and there were nowhere to go to have a drink or something after. The bed was ok. No air condition, safe or minibar in the room. The balcony is big and nice. The bed is ok and have moskitonet.
We had 2 nights here. In hotel restaurant we had worst steak ever. I eat a lot steaks even here on Madagascar. First time was terrible (on Madagascar). Not possible to cut with knife. Not possible to chew. On photo is MEDIUM in their opinion, which in fact was well done. Request for replacement not accepted. Don't eat steak here please. BTW my wife had acceptable but also not medium but well done.
The hotel has nice and clean modern rooms. The pool and the garden are unmaintained and the restaurant is hopelessly charmless. Ok for a short stay. They are working to update the surroundings but should also do something about the restaurant.
I came here with expectations that I wouldn't like it but it wasn't too bad at all. In a busy part of town with some shops & bars nearby and easy access to the NP. Our room was in one of the newer blocks overlooking the pool, quite spacious with shower room and separate toilet and a coffee table and chairs; the rooms are accessed via the balcony/terrace but there are no table & chairs for sitting outside. We were without water on the first morning for quite some time but we hadn't gone out first thing so it might have been timing as we had got up a little later than others: it seems a tanker delivers the water which happened both mornings we were there, probably a daily occurrence. The restaurant is quite canteen-like, absolutely no atmosphere and the food wasn't memorable, which means it wasn't bad but not great either. Breakfast was fair at best. We were advised not to go out in the evening as it wasn't safe, the only place we were told not to. Not sure if our guide was just being cautious for us Westerners or if it is that bad. I wouldn't have a problem coming back.…
This is a good hotel in Ranohira with nice new rooms that have just been built at the back of the main building by a large swimming pool. The hotel is convenient for the nearby National Park, and there is seating outside the restaurant for drinks/snacks.
This hotel is located in the middle of the town, with rooms and bungalows, restaurant and a small pool. Recently there have been built newer bungalows and rooms, but all are lacking atmosphere. All have a balcony or small. terrace without furniture to sit or relax there, no pictures or any other decoration in the rooms, The entire impression is sterile without atmosphere. The breakfast is O.K., dinner average, The hotel offers laundry service. In summary, a good hotel, but absolutely not charming.
First of all I should mention that we stay in the building between restaurant and swiming pool, second floor. The other buildings behind the pool looked a little bit better. The whole room smelled terrible, and the towels seemed not washed for several years. The front door could be easily opened after locked. And the bathroom door was hard to close, and once closed, hard to open! We could not study the sheet carefully but hope a quick sleep. And then what? We both suffered lice!!! Highly recommend tourists to avoid it!
We have stayed at one of the older rooms facing the pool. The room was adequate for a two-night stay, but quite basic. It looked like furniture & decoration were from the 90's. The shower had enough hot water. The toilet door was very loud when opening and closing, a bit annoying at night. Also in the evening lots of noise came from the restaurant. The restaurant could be rated with 3 stars, too. Food was basic, but edible. Prices were low (most main courses 12000 ariary, basic breakfast 4500, eggs extra 3000). Service was most of the time good. Wifi worked at the restaurant - again, most of the time. As stated in another review, the owner was rather unfriendly, but he tried to smile once after checking out.
