We had booked this campsite for 2 reasons - 1 our tent is large so we needed a big pitch, the campsite scored for that, secondly due to the reviews. Having arrived at the campsite we were greeted by friendly staff and we eventually managed to work out that we could park wherever we wanted on the grassy part of the site. The site was clean enough and fairly quiet given the time of year, but the place where campers etc parked was a bit of a dumping ground for vehicles and materials for the sheds that were being built around the static caravans. The major disappointment for us was the swimming pool as we thought we had booked a quiet residents only site (nothing mentioned in the blurb when you book) to find out that the pool was open to anybody to use for a fee and it was packed everyday with what appeared to be the neighbourhood children - far too noisy for us. All in all an ok site but given the reasons above won’t be going back

Passing through Switzerland from Italy to France has always been a full day's drive for us in our motorhome, as Switzerland is so expensive for those who don't live there. Finding Isola in the ACSI stable was a great opportunity to vary our route. We had stayed at nearby Riarena once before, but we always travel out of season and they were closed.

The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and we were quickly settled in for the night. One strange thing was that the toilets and other facilities were situated amongst the more permanent static homes, all of which have their own services, meaning that tourers had quite a bit further to walk. There were lots of facilities on site that were closed for the winter, but it must be a lively campsite in the summer.

The walks and pathways around this fertile valley are endless - we wish we were a bit younger! having said that, it was well within our capabilities to access public transport and get into nearby Lugano ... next time, maybe!
