We really loved staying at Turtle Paradise! The hotel is driven by a lovely couple and their friendly staff. They were extremely helpful and available all the time. They helped us get the most out of our stay. We enjoyed a magnificent cano trip on the lagoon one morning with Rukman, one of the owners. They also helped us arrange a trip to the bird park 18 km from the hotel. Rukman himself also joined us here and created a wonderful, happy atmosphere. The hotel has an amazing view on the rooftop where you can enjoy the sunset over the lagoon while having parakeets, bats and brahmin kites flying close by, while listening to the peacocks’s calling. We saw a palm cat, wild rabbits, painted storks, monkeys and peacocks in the area in and close around the hotel. We loved the Rekawa beach close to the hotel, and the hotel is the perfect place to stay when you wish to observe the extraordinary phenomenon of green sea turtles laying their eggs on the beach at night. When you stay in the hotel or have dinner in the restaurant, you can let the staff know, that you would like to see the turtles. They get a call from the turtle watch guide when a turtle arrives, so you can wait in your room or the restaurant instead of the dark beach. It is a good idea to bring a red torch (or a red bicycle light) for turtle watch or go on a moonlit night. The restaurant uses fresh, local ingredients and has many different dishes on the menu. It is a good idea to order well in advance. You can order dinner, go out and come back at the agreed time. If you order fresh juice, let them know if you do not want sugar and salt in your juice. The breakfast that was included in our stay was great and varied. We especially loved their rotis, papadums and sambol.

We spent two nights at Turtle Paradise, travelling with two children (3 and 5). Some parts of our stay was excellent and unique - Rekawa beach 5 minutes away was a true paradise, and although the waves were too powerful to swim the nearby rockpool was safe and good fun for the kids. Seeing turtles at night was truly magical. We also had very good food cooked by the owners. There was however room for improvement, for example the building was not quite finished so our balcony had no railings (in other words, we could not use it at all with the kids). In fact the entire second floor lacked railings, which is very dangerous when you travel with children. Also there were some communication difficulties with ordering food. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful though, so overall we enjoyed our stay.

We planned to do the turtle watch at the Turtle Conservation Project in Rekawa so we stayed for one night in Turtle paradise. This hotel is on 2 minutes walking distance from the turtle watch activity so that is perfect. Also two minutes walking to the beach, which is very quiet (no beach bars). Room with AC was spacious and clean, hot shower in bathroom! We took noodles as diner at the restaurant of the hotel (no other restaurants nearby), which tasted good. And the breakfast was also very delicious, see picture!

We had a very welcoming stay! It felt more like a homestay, they welcomed us with flower necklaces, took us kayaking in the lagoon and even took care of a small injury. Aisha and her husband always have a big smile on their face! It is perfect if you want to go see the turtles, because they will let you know once the turtles are on the beach, so you don't have to wait there. Very clean and big room with A.C. Lovely staff and delicious food, though it takes a bit longer because they make everything fresh. Best stay we had in Sri Lanka!
