This was the vacation of our dreams in any way! We booked for 10 days, 7 people including children, and honestly we didn't know what to expect. It didn't take us very long to understand that we've reached heaven on earth. The place is stunningly beautiful, calm and spacious. The food is outstanding and served generously, to say the least. Everything is made of local product - vegetables, dairy, meat. Both the vegetarians and meat eaters among us were thrilled. The house alcohol "Tzoika" was served free. The rooms were great and simple, some have a beautiful balcony to the woods. Most of the time we just stayed there, used the small beautiful pool and ate wonderful meals! but traveling around the maramurs area is also a must - there is lots to see around. Every single request we had was answered immediately and generously by Martha and her lovely family. We will definitely come back soon. Thank you so much - you are truly rare people with a truly rare little hotel.…
If you are in search of an authentic ”Maramureș” experience, search no further. You just found everything you were looking for. From the incredible landscape, to the delicious meals and the kind and gentle staff, everything was just perfect. I enjoyed my stay so much the first time I was here that I decided to come back every year. You also have a number of activates that you can perform while staying at Marta’s & Genu’s family resort, you can go hiking in the woods nearby, or take the bike out for a spin on the numerous paths that surround the area or even jogging thru the beautiful countryside. If visiting monasteries is what you are interested in, then you have an impressive number of establishments that you can go to, all situated at very convenient distances. Last but not least during the winter time you can also practice winter sports in the beautiful sky resorts of Cavnic and Suior that are located at a 45 minutes’ drive from the pension.…

In fact, I think the supper I had here was the best that I had anywhere in a six-month tour of Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria. Very, very highly recommended for foodies, gourmets - in fact everyone, particularly if they're tired of that eternal Balkan "skara". (Vegetarians might be especially interested.) The first course (at any rate the first course I remember) was super-tender lamb medallions, cooked in the oven - so I was told - with beer up to their middles (i.e. keeping them moist but not covering them). STUPENDOUSLY good. Next, chicken and vegetable kebabs - the best kebabs I've ever had outside Istanbul. Chicken marinaded just like it should be. Next, a sort of Romanian vegetable "gyuvech' (= sort of stew, made with variants all over the Balkans), with peppers, onions, celery, rice, and other things I'm afraid I've forgotten. Also absolutely delicious. All cooked by the owners, who are both teachers at the local high school, and keen hobby cooks. Every single thing "of their own production" (except the rice, which came from the village shop.) Breakfast was excellent too. Eggs, cheese, butter, jam, good coffee, masses of fresh fruit, home-made bread, home-grown tomatoes.... Mamaliga delicious for once. Room nothing special, but perfectly OK. There are stairs, so if you have mobility problems say beforehand. Above all kindly, understanding, sympathetic people.…
