We made an over-night visit here with my daughter, her partner and their baby. The Guest House is well run and friendly, with what seemed to be a charming quirkiness. Furnishing are retro and atmospheric. The heating wasn't working but the owner did all he could to ensure we were warm enough- it's surprisingly cold at night. The food is...

Loved staying in this charming old guest house right next to an amazing rainforest. Our hosts Nina and Torben provided lovely food and hospitality. We met some very interesting people staying in the guest house both from overseas and from Victoria, which made our stay even more enjoyable. If you're after an escape from the hustle and bustle of life...

Lovely guest house on the gateway to the beautiful Tarra-Bulga national park. Location perfect and hospitality of the owners Nina and Torben without fault. I will look forward to staying again when the wood fire is burning in the communal lounge area and we can sit to escape the cold. Elevated '2000 metres above stress level' the weather is colder...

We stopped by for lunch before going to the park and had a great meal of home cooked pies and cake. Be prepared to wait a little while for the food to be prepared by the husband and wife team, but it's worth the wait. While waiting buy some of the bird feed available and go outside and feed the...

A lovely old-style guest house that offers honest to goodness ground up value. Teetering on the edge of amazing Tarra Bulga National Park, not only great friendly service can be found there, but the 'food' is incredibly good! We senses were stunned and relaxed into a blissful state. Yum!! Nina and Torben were incredibly hospitable and went over and beyond...

My brother, sister and myself returned to Balook the village we grew up near, for a few days of nostalgia and reviving memories. We went to school at the Balook school and used to visit the Guest house , run My Miss King and Frank Tucker to buy lollies or broken biscuits. We stayed the 20th and 21st of February....

I spent a few days in the Aussie bush in an old fashioned guest house with shared bathroom facilities. Now that you've adjusted your expectations accordingly let me tell you how great this place is. It is quiet, really quiet (outside, the floors creak a bit inside). Nina and Torben are friendly and genuinely eager to please everyone. The food...

If you like the idea of a relaxing weekend (or week) away from the madding crowd in a secret location high on the Strzelecki Range and deep in the rain forest of the Tarra-Bulga National Park, then contact Nina and Torben and drive to Balook. Torben is a registered carpenter and has had a previous life as a long-distance trucker...
