I love this place, it has character and personality - the other travellers, the staff, the ancient brass window handles made perfectly in three parts... it's like a second home. Even in the off-season its filled with interesting people with great stories to tell, a great pub which loosen tongues and you discover you are next to a millionaire who also prefers this to the 5* hotel up the road. "No atmosphere! It's like waiting for your cosmetic surgery in that place! This is real and you can be who you are" Ha!! exactly my sentiments. The rooms are clean, the view is spectacular, there is plenty of hot water and cold air con.....but the fun is downstairs with all the people. Beaches, town etc.... all walkable.
If you're looking for somewhere to stay on Patmos, this is the place. It's only a short walk from the harbour but away from the main town, so it feels quiet and intimate. The rooms look out onto the amazing sea view. The facilities are pretty standard but it was very clean and tidy when we arrived. The staff are also really friendly and always up for a chat and helping you out. Look no further!
I only stayed one night on Patmos but was really sorry to leave. It’s an amazing island, really vibrant and diverse, would have liked to see more, experience more. So - if you’re island hopping like me, stay here for longer than one night! The hotel was such a gem! Simple rooms, simple furnishings, a little outdated but that just adds to the charm, I think. Everything was so clean though and the room had space and air and light. The balcony is wonderful, the view amazing! Loved it, loved it! And the service couldn’t have been friendlier and nicer. I want to go back! And I will. To stay longer and enjoy this island properly.
Upon disembarking from the ferry terminal, my walk with the luggage to the Blue Bay Hotel was comfortable and convenient. Initially, I had my reservations as I felt that the near proximity from the terminal to Hotel would be too close so it would then be a noisy and rowdy place of stay, but was surprised as the Hotel is like another part of a quiet world. The room is clean and tidy - the bed sheet and pillow covers are also clean, so indeed I had a comfortable sleep. In having to go to the eateries in town, it was just another wonderful walk. The manager, Demetrius, is polite and he is spontaneous in talking about anything - sports, places, history, religion etc. He speaks candidly, is also a nice and wonderful person as surely he had been all along helpful. I am sure that he treats all guests more like a friend indeed. Utterly enjoyed my stay! - Anthony Tam, Singapore.…
Arriving by ferry, this hotel is easy walking distance and allows good access to the port shopping/restaurants. The staff are super helpful. Breakfast made it easy to have a slow morning before heading out to explore this wonderful island.
Everything is good, clean and close to the Ferry station; one thing that I didn't like was the shower. It is very very small..I will come back again. Walking from the ferry station is uphill, so make sure your luggage wheels are strong because the road is not as smooth for luggage wheels. The bus from ferry pier to Apocalypse cave is close to this hotel, it about 5 minutes walking distance. It is close to shopping stores and restaurants
We were in Patmos for one night. Wish we were there longer. Room accommodations were average. Rooms were large and we found the bathroom to be better than most small hotels. Kid friendly and pet friendly. Excellent breakfast with a friendly and helpful staff. Lots of steps and no assistance with luggage. Good location.
We stayed here for three nights. This trip was not about the hotel experience, so the niggles were largely inconsequential. The staff are friendly; the breakfasts-very good, with lovely homemade omelette and cheese pies. There is a wide selection of homemade jams and fruits/bread etc... The coffee comes from a machine and is not great. Try the takeaway down the road! Niggles: we occupied 108/109, which enjoy a semi-sea view. The rooms are in dire need of modernisation, with a failed sliding door to the shower room in 108, an antiquated shower, and tired looking suite. But this is probably to be expected given the 2 x rating. 108 also suffered from a leaking a/c unit, which soaked our kids’ luggage and electrical equipment. This fault was not rectified adequately, so my son had to empty the exterior plastic bottle in the early hours every night! Overall though, this hotel is OK for what you need, if your focus is on the beauty of the islands and crystal clear waters and delicious local food and drink.…
A pleasant, simple hotel with extraordinary views from all the rooms which were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was well prepared and hearty with a great choice of coffee and beverages. Most of all the staff was very friendly and efficient! Great location, close to town but away from the noise!!!
Perched on a hillside 100 meters south of the Skala waterfront, the Blue Bay Hotel offers charm, wit, impeccably clean rooms and a quiet ambience. Owner Dimitri will welcome you with his Greek-Irish charm and a Sheffield accent. The hotel has no elevator and has a bit of a catacombs feel, which I found fantastic! Built in 1991, it feels like a pensione of 50 years earlier. Rooms appear on 3 floors around corners and up stairways. Reception, breakfast room and a small bar inhabit the main floor. Stop at the bar for a shot of Jameson’s and partake of various humorous rejoinders laughing on the walls. There is also a nice porch overlooking the Aegean. My room, 304, was chosen for the magical view of one of the world’s most enchanting seas, the Aegean. The room was large with a desk and a old fashioned shuttered doors opening onto a lovely balcony. TV and refrigerator I ignored but they exist. The bathroom proved efficient, good shower with plenty of hot water and the entire room received a rigorous cleaning and aired out by sea breeze, bravo! I had a light bulb burn out and it was replaced within the hour. Dimitri and his excellent staff run a first class operation! Breakfast: breads, pastries, eggs, cheese pies and an mechanistic barista, just a push button away from espresso, cappuccino, filter coffee, instant coffee and hot water for a large tea selection. The 26 rooms give some choice. The Blue Bay Hotel offers you all of Patmos with a touch of reticence, bravo!…
