We chose this guesthouse to be close to the cliffs. Very comfortable bed and nice sized room. Breakfast was very good. The owners were very helpful. Hopefully we will be back to see the puffins and will stay here again. Please not that you will be on gravel roads for most of the drive.

Very comfortable backcountry lodging. Fixed menu for dinner was excellent. Reviews to the contrary should consider the remote location of the facility. Well run and definitely would return. Host was accommodating and very helpful with local history.

Excellent one night stay in the middle of nowhere!! I chose Hotel Latrabjarg for location (who doesn’t) it’s on the remote western fjords and close to the famous cliffs - From the outside it looks like the old school house and community centre of its past with little charm however the rooms are warm, bathrooms upgraded with great showers and a fabulous outlook The owner/host Carl is charming and whilst the menu is set, the food is simple but very tasty and filling. Carl did a full breakfast buffet set up (including freshly baked bread) despite only two couples in the hotel, which this late in the season is commendable! The whole experience was surprisingly enjoyable - the walk to the beach invigorating and the view from our window and if in the area I cannot recommend Hotel latrabjarg enough….. the ritz it isn’t but the welcome makes up for that !!…

Beautiful views in a very remote and quiet area. Spacious, comfortable and clean room with coffee/tea making amenities , all bathroom amenities as well. Very reasonably priced. The owners are a lovely couple who were really helpful and made us feel very welcome so thank you! The best part is the location of the place closeness to Latrabjarg, which is spectacular. Definitely recommend and would 100% go back!

Good and clean rooms, great private bathroom with a walk in shower. No television and little extras in the room. Breakfast buffet is ok, more continental than English, missing the necessary morning bacon. Helpful staff. Great surroundings, the aviation museum near by and great nature scenarios.

Our room ( room 12 ) was clean, had plenty of space and shelving for baggage. The bathroom also had plenty of room for toiletries, and the shower had a real full glass enclosure. All Icelandic hotels seem to be too hot. Fortunately, Hotel Latrabjarg provided a fan in our room. The blackout curtains worked well. Beds are comfortable; a pleasure to return to after hours of torturing puffins with camera clicks. Note: There are very few electrical outlets available in the room. I always carry an extension cord with multiple outlets or a multiple outlet adapter to ensure this doesn’t become a problem.

I really enjoyed my recent stay in this hotel. It is a nice little outpost, right off of 612, the road that leads to the Latrabjarg bird cliffs. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is still a bit of a drive from the cliffs and a long drive from the nearest town (Patreksfjordur). It was easy to find and the check in process was smooth. Since the hotel is somewhat isolated, I think it creates a specific auru of peace and relaxation. It might not be for everybody, but I happened to like the solitude and quiet atmosphere. The rooms were larger than I expected, and the beds were comfortable. One only has to venture to the front yard of the hotel to enjoy the surrounding views of the Fjords. The restaurant is not cheap, but I found it to be well worth the investment, as the meal was one of the best I had in Iceland. As previously mentioned in other reviews, there is a dog on the grounds who can help ease the pain of being aways from your own pets! The dog is very playful and extremely friendly! If you like to run or walk, the roads around the fjord offer a hilly, but scenic and gratifying, out and back venture. The only negative I would mention would be that our room was a bit warm, as it received quite a bit of sunlight. Given the colder temperatures and wind that we faced, it was actually a welcome change. The room did have a small fan and we were able to open the windows to get some air circulating.…

My daughter and I LOVED this place. Here’s our story. En route to the hotel, driving along the gravel roads, we managed to puncture our tire. We were losing pressure fast, but succeeded in reaching the hotel before it went fully flat. I had no idea what to do, because this is a remote (and beautiful) location, and I don’t know how to change a tire. The man at the desk, a lovely guy named Joél, reassured us that we need not worry. First, he settled us in our room — comfortable and cheerful and clean — and proceeded to put on our spare for us. Then he told us how to get to a tire repair shop. Success! We returned for dinner at the hotel. The dining room is quaint and homey and the food was delicious and abundant. After a while, the owner of the hotel, Karl, came in for his dinner. Another wonderful person, full of information and fascinating stories. I couldn’t be happier with our experience.…

First of all, nothing can top a hotel with a friendly labrador. Highlight of the day yesterday was being greeted by a lovely friendly calm labrador. Definitely top dog! We were in room 12, nice big room and a large window. When the sun shines in you can almost imagine you're in a hot country sat on the chair as it's so warm through the window, it was lovely. Rooms has hair dryer, coffe/tea making facilities and wifi. There are two buildings one with all the rooms and the other with reception and dining area. The man on the reception who I believe is the owner is very friendly and humorous. Great host. Dinner was a set meal so no choice but it is a small family run hotel. We have asparagus soup to start, cod with rice and salad for main and cheesecake for dessert. It was lovely. Breakfast was also good. No hot food however they did have cereal, yoghurts, continental breakfast things, croissants etc. Better than some places I've stayed on this trip. The wonderful dog though was my highlight :D …

A decent hotel with clean, large rooms mostly convenient for visiting Latrabjarg Cliffs though there is a closer hotel. Do check the timings for visiting the cliffs: the puffins disappear in August. It's about half way to the cliffs from the main road along a decent gravel road so you still have about 30-45 minutes to drive to get to the cliffs. The gravel road was straightforward to the hotel and on towards the cliffs. Although you can see Patreksfjord across the water it takes more than an hour to get to it by car, so once you've arrived you're not heading out for supper so really you need to bring food for your room or budget for the hotel's dinner offer. Three nights was probably one night too many. The hotel were not happy for us to drink our own wine in the serving area so we drank water with our meal.…
