We stayed here for 5 nights from 10th - 15th July 2019. The pool area is fantastic and everything is very clean. The owners are very attentive and as a coeliac made sure I had everything I needed. The meal we ate at the hotel was also very good. Would recommend highly.
Located in a completely gutted and restored house not far from Bergerac, Paul and Reinoud have created an oasis off the beaten track. Comfortable room with an excellent shower - quite rare - and a lovely breakfast served on the terrace, with helpful hosts. Much better than staying in Bergerac, and convenient to Issigeac - a lovely village with one of the best markets in the region. Absolutely recommended.
The tranquility, the breakfast, the delicious home-cooked dinners, the comfortable bed and the outstanding views across the beautiful Dordogne countryside. Hosts Paul and Reinoud were extremely hospitable from the moment we arrived right up to our departure. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Maison Forte and would highly recommend it if you’re after a relaxing peaceful holiday in this wonderful part of France.
We stayed for just one night at the lovely La Maison Forte - but could have stayed longer. A beautiful building, fantasticically restored in an incredibly tranquil location. Paul and Reinoud are superb hosts, very attentive and friendly. We would highly recommend.
Where do you start? Beautiful old fort as the name implies stunningly restored by the 2 guys that own and run it.The views all around are stunning with only birdsong to break the silence. The hospitality is top notch with nothing too much trouble for the hosts. The accommodation is spotless with a Very comftable bed and a lovely walk in shower, the towels are changed daily, there are armchairs in the room to relax in after dinner or you may want to sit on the terrace with a nightcap. There is a good choice for breakfast,Eggs cooked anyway you like along with the usual continental breakfast fare. a local honey and some home made jams more than satisfied our sweet toothes. We would thoroughly recommend dinner, something different every night with a good cheese board, accompanied by a good local red or rose wine to wash it down. There are some decent restaurants around should you wish to go out of an evening. If you are travelling around the guys will give you some great places to visit off the main tourist routes,we visited some wonderful old abbeys and quaint medieval villages where you can stop for a leisurely lunch, the Plat de Jour being good value for money. I could go on extolling the virtues of staying in this wonderful old house, but if you want peace and quiet in great surroundings look no further. This 11/10 country. We stayed for 4 nights bliss, just go! …
