Wow a wonderful experience have stayed many times so peaceful, first time in the Garden Room which is heaven. The pillows are just like home. The new owner is a joy to be with. Will be back, it’s the real deal absolute class! Our host was very welcoming, we arrived on bikes and she looked after our every need. The pool area is outstanding and a great spot to chill in surrounded by nature. For us this is a special place on our 10 day bicycle holiday in a great location

yes the courgette soup is a MUST;cleanliness assured breakfast first class parking easy restful tranquil chill out with beautiful views!!! also its central for all the groovy Aquitaine /Dordogne stuff
nb one thing these guys would not do is overcharge!! their dinner lunch and wine rates are below the market and extremely reasonable and as they are classy guys you ll be drinking great local wines Thanx Paul and Reinoud Ont retourner!

Located in a completely gutted and restored house not far from Bergerac, Paul and Reinoud have created an oasis off the beaten track. Comfortable room with an excellent shower - quite rare - and a lovely breakfast served on the terrace, with helpful hosts. Much better than staying in Bergerac, and convenient to Issigeac - a lovely village with one of the best markets in the region. Absolutely recommended.

We had a great time at La maison forte. We were made to feel very welcome, the room and grounds were beautiful and the breakfasts and dinners just lovely. The hosts went over and above to help us enjoy our stay and we would highly recommend La Maison Forte.

The boys have done a fabulous job of renovating this house; not only with a high degree of style and attention to detail, but also a lot of love for the place. An ideal retreat and oasis. The rooms are decorated with style and the outside gardens and pool are a delight. You must spend a night eating at La Maison - the boys give so much care and attention and the evening setting is sublime.

From the moment my wife and I arrived at La Maison Forte we knew we had made the right choice. A fantastic renovation of a beautiful old French fort set in beautiful, peaceful countryside in the Dordogne region in France. A small place with 6 rooms which made it lovely and quiet, just what we wanted!

We had booked the first floor self catering apartment for 7 nights and it was perfectly equipped with all that we needed. The place was stunning, with wonderful interiors in each room and amazing views from all the windows. The bathroom with its 2 person shower was an added bonus - nothing to fault here. Breakfast was a delight each morning with a great wide choice of all the usual continental items and the offer of whatever eggs you wanted.

If you go, then definitely spend at least a couple of nights enjoying the 4 course meal prepared and cooked by Reinoud (one of the two owners). The food was lovely, fresh, tasty and plentiful. For 27 euros per person it was a very good value!

Both Reinoud and Paul made us extremely welcome and very comfortable - we feel like a guest in their home rather than a B&B. I had advised them in advance of our visit that my wife was pregnant and they made every effort to accommodate her needs whether it was decaf coffee, cheese, well cooked meats etc and we were both so grateful of how we were treated.

The pool area was very peaceful and a nice place to relax and unwind during the day - sometimes shared with the house cat and dog!!

With Issigeac only 5mins drive away it was close for a quick drive into town for some provisions (we made lunch and dinner in our room and sat on the terrace a couple of days) and a bite to eat in the evening. On a Friday night, there is a food market where the locals (and tourists!) eat and drink local produce sitting around on tables arranged in the square - we couldn't resist! lovely....

Would we go back? absolutely! Missing it already........

This is just the most beautiful boutique hotel ever. The setting is idyllic and the owners so welcoming. The room was of the highest standard with a comfortable bed, seating area and fabulous wet room/toilet. The pool area is tranquil and a real sun trap and the terrace and dining room just beautiful. The owners are delightful and the food is amazing. Breakfast offered a great choice including yoghurt, fruit, fresh bread and croissants, cheese/ham etc and evening meal was fantastic. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

La Maison Forte is a delightful Bed and Breakfast (meals on request) located in a stunning location in the Dordogne approx. a 5 min drive from the charming village of Issigeac. It is very central for many of the places you would wish to visit in the region.

Our hosts Reinoud and Paul were charming and made us extremely welcome and could not do enough for us.

Their beautiful home has been lovingly restored and sits on the top of a hill with stunning views overlooking the valley in an extremely peaceful and tranquil location.

Our room was downstairs but had lovely views of the valley and an outside patio, everything you would expect from this classy accommodation.
Sadly we did not have the opportunity to use their charming swimming pool or sit outside relaxing by the pool on this visit due to weather and length of our visit.

Breakfast consisted of an excellent choice of traditional French fayre but our hosts offered eggs and bacon on top of the delightful selection available.

I highly recommend La Maison Forte if you're visiting France and we look forward to staying on our next trip in that region of France.

We booked here for three nights on the back of previous reviews. What a gem of a place. It’s a beautiful house that’s as private and secluded as you could want. If you require a supermarket on your doorstep best look elsewhere, if you want peace and quiet...
The room had the most serene view. We slept with the doors open so we could enjoy a breeze (and the sunrise). Through experience of not many hotels/b&b’s offering fans we always take a fan which might be a good idea if you have space in the car.
If you do get chance through the night to get up and gaze at the stars please do. Due to the lack of light pollution I’m not sure you’ll ever see more stars. The sunrise was pretty spectacular too.
We stayed in the studio whilst not huge was perfectly adequate. Very modern and fastidiously clean.
Breakfast was fresh and tasty and plentiful. Served on the terrace along with endless top-ups of fresh coffee.
If you get chance to book in for the dinner then do. Reinoud is a very capable chef and the food was probably some of the tastiest we had in France. We booked in for two nights dinner as did all the other guests. Not expensive either and only ten metres away from your room.
Paul and Reinoud are very good hosts and made our stay really relaxing. I could have stayed for a fortnight.

My husband and I spent 4 days here in September. I had previously spent one night there with a girlfriend and we were very impressed. I thought my husband might be bored in such a quiet location but he was so impressed he wants to go back. Paul and Reinoud make you feel so at home and we left feeling we were leaving friends rather than just staying in a hotel. The rooms, outside area, food, are all superb and I cannot praise this place enough and I am picky!! Eating with other guests at the communal table made the evenings fun and we discovered that they had all been regular guests. Nothing is too much trouble for these guys and I look forward to my next stay.

"We had the self-catered room, with a small kitchenette; but didn't end up using it because we couldn't resist Reinoud's cooking each night! It was a lovely room, at the end of the ground floor, with a small private balcony."
