My husband and I wanna relax with natural, not much activity and people. This resort is very private and natural, nice forest , nice room, all staff are very friendly and helpful, this place is very quiet and beautiful.Their is a lot of bird so take a nice camera with your trip. If you want to recharge your battery I recommend here.
We stayed in places 4 times as expensive as Baan Maka around Kaeng Krachan and none of them half as good. The staff really understand what you came here to see. Nature and animals. They cater to that. The food is good and simple Thai food. The rooms are clean and sensible with AC and good bathrooms. Everything you need, comfy beds, clean sheets, and lots of outlets. But the location is the best. Total wild forest and only 15 minutes drive from the national park. Unlike every other hotel we stayed at around here, this one is DEAD QUIET at night. No roosters, no barking dogs, no thumping Thai techno music. Total peace. They have all kinds of nature spotting tours available and arrange everything for you. They speak English, and have an amazing comprehensive guide book written by them to explain all the nature spotting options. There are night walks and kayaking on site. We woke up at 5:30am for a private trip the very top top of a peak in Kaeng Krachan national park. It is unbelievable. Our guide found dozens of gibbons, langurs, hornbills and even a sun bear! IN THE WILD. Tips for the trip: If you also take it, wear long pants and take a hoodie. It is FREEZING. Also, bugs. Take sandwiches. Limited food up top and by the time you get there, you have been up for hours and will be starving. Take water too. Take a hat. Take a long lens for your camera. Don't miss out on all the animal ops. Don't hesitate to book this place if you want nature at its best.…
Whether you are a nature enthusiast or just a newbie who wanted to try out bring one with nature, Baan Maka is the place to be. They offer quite a number of activities for anyone of any age! Make sure to go kayaking at the lake and doing the nature trail! And try their cooking lessons too! The owner and staff are also very accommodating. P’ Games is very helpful to guests and P’Kate is always on top of taking care of the guests!
Lovely place with a remote feeling Friendly knowledgable staff Very tasty simple food Enjoyed the coffee available all day in the restaurant area Lovely walks The sunset pop up bar is in a beautiful spot and the drinks are very reasonably priced Clean spacious rooms Enjoyed canoeing on the lake
It is a wonderful thing to see a pair of hornbills land on a branch ten yards from where you are having breakfast. The western style breakfast, by the way, is delicious and is as good as any I have ever had in Thailand. The resort is beautiful and peaceful and, as with the hornbills, often surprising.
The owners run this place for bird watchers. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The area surrounding the lodge attracts various birds. The national park is close by and we booked a guide for half day tours which was the highlight. The hides nearby are good for photography. Highly recommend the lodge for bird enthusiasts.
If you are a nature lover / Bird lover / peace lover / Tranquility lover, then this is the place for you. In the middle of the Jungle zone, camouflaged by a massive green cover and full of various varieties of birds. This place is undoubtedly the best location for de-stressing yourself and breathing the freshest air possible. The owners have used nature and nature's bounty in making the entire place. Be it stairs to your room or the balcony area. Everything is wooden as much as possible. Lots of walking around area and Not to be missed the 2 trails. One starts near the restaurant and has 3 view points on top and the other starts at the other end of the resort. Amazing walk and dont forget to take water with you and ensure that you pick up strong bamboo sticks on the way to help you climb if wet soil due to rains. The best part was that even the food is very good. Breakfast is paid with high quality home prepared sausages and bacon. The service of the restaurant staff is amazing and 3 cheers to the lady Khun Kan. she was never out of smile even after 12 hours of work The rooms dont have TV or Fridge. which is great. If you want any personal items to be chilled up, the restaurant team is more than happy to do that for you. Make sure you have a car to go around as there are many scenic drives and cafe's One small suggestion for the Resort owners is to focus on house keeping. the Room cleaning for 3 days was not upto the mark. Actually the lowest point of the Great Resort overall …
This is the perfect spot for wildlife enthusiasts. Lovely grounds to walk around and close enough to Kaeng Krachan park to go for a full day and return to the comforts of a nice room. The staff are fantastic. Ian is very knowledgeable and loves to sit and have a beer with guests in the evening and talk about birds and other wildlife. The food in the restaurant is excellent. I can highly recommend the Penang Curry. Just sitting in the restaurant gives you a great opportunity to see some wonderful birds. There are also very nice and cheap night walks around the grounds with great opportunities to see snakes and nocturnal wildlife. Rooms are clean and spacious
This lodge is located in wonderful grounds and run with a clear focus on birds (and other wildlife) and does it very well! There are a few small hides in the grounds where you can put out meal worms and attract some good birds. During our stay this included point blank views of Siberian Rubythroat (male), Ruddy-breasted & Slaty-legged Crakes and Greater & Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrushes; Puff-throated Babblers are so tame they actually join you in the hide! A lake and nature trails extend the areas you can bird watch in. All staff were very friendly and helpful and owners Games and Ian were on hand to give us information and arrange guides, transport and provide ID tips etc. There is also a book with comprehensive information about birding in the Kaeng Krachan area including a very useful log of sightings from the ever-growing number of nearby small hides with food and water for birds. These make a modest charge for visits and attract some great birds, often giving fantastic views - male Blue Pitta was a stand-out during our stay. This is a great example of local eco-tourism. All the arrangements made through the lodge including the original booking, National Park guide, transport to Bangkok, transfer from our previous hotel and transport to hides, was done extremely efficiently and all punctual. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy with some very solid wood furniture (but no safe); the bathroom was a little tatty and the shower flow and temperature control poor. We were warned that - due to the location - wifi might be a bit patchy but it functioned well for us. The food was very tasty and included a good range of mainly Thai dishes, from a comprehensive menu (note even a "little spicy" is quite hot!) This plus beers and other drinks were all very reasonably priced. A very nice free early morning breakfast of home made bread, bananas and filter coffee was available daily: ideal for early birding starts. If you are keen on birds - especially great views of some attractive and tricky species - and enjoy a forest setting with friendly people and nice food, this is the place for you!…
Close to Kraeng Krachan and with its own natural grounds and access to local lake this is the best choice for visitors coming to bird in KK. Breakfasts start early to allow early starts, and are free if just having toast and hot drinks. Dinner was excellent and great value. Rooms large & comfy. Staff friendly & very helpful. Locals with private bird hides are an asset accessible for those that stay at BM too, making it a must go to place. Would return. Recommended
