I had a wonderful few days at Aloha Ke Akua as part of a meditation retreat. The community is very special, they work very hard and provide a once in a lifetime experience through incredible food and comfortable yet totally in nature sleeping etc. I learnt so much and have lots of positive ideas and knowledge to take forward into my life thanks to the retreat led by Alex. Thank you!
It is hard to put such a place and experience into words. This is truly a beautiful example of how we, children and stewards of this planet, can live together in harmony. I did a Purpose Spark retreat here lead by Dayton, OH native Gregory Bogard. It was an absolute life changing, heart opening experience. The sisters & brothers at Aloha made me feel welcome the moment I stepped foot onto the property. Each meal was divinely delicious. The bathroom & showers were amazing! 100% sustainable. The garden and projects on the property are so inspiring. The lodging is cozy, safe, and equipped with break taking views. The temple is such a powerful creation. Special hearts and minds are brought to this place. I am thankful for my time shared here!
We ended up here on a recommendation from La Pacha in San Gil (also a great place to stay). We only stayed a night but would have liked to stay longer. We had a loft room, which is comfortable though not super private if you're after that. The view over the mountains was genuinely one of the most beautiful things I've seen. There's a lovely family feel in the hostel. Everyone knows each other's name, helps out and joins together for (really delicious) meals. We also had a cacao ceremony the evening we were there, which was fun even though we didn't have much musical ability or songs to contribute. There isn't a huge amount to do in the area apart from hikes and walks to vantage points and so on, but it's such a beautiful and relaxing place that if you have the time I'd recommend staying a while and volunteering.…
When you come to Aloha Ke Akua, you don't come to a hostel, you come into a family. Everyone I know wanted to stay there for just a few nights and ended up staying about a week. This is what the place does to you! The view from there is amazing, it's super quiet and the food is awesome. They offer free yoga classes every morning and in the evening there often is a bonfire and somebody is playing the guitar! A place where you can feel like home, away from home.
Love loved loved our time at Aloha Ke Akua! This space is so special, with so much incredible thought and intention going into all of the buildings, the permaculture projects, the food, and just the space as a whole. Amazing spot for some peace and quiet, great conversations, to immerse yourself in nature, and for stunning sunsets. Can't wait to go back someday :)
Beautiful Retreat on the Top of on of the Mountains in the Sierra Nevada wherefrom you have an amazing view over the the Sierra and even down to the sea. All the People living there are wonderful characters and will treat you with homemade vegetarian food cooked with lots of love. One of my Favourites where Showers and Toilets with a view down the forest jungle. If you Feel like eg. Cacao Ceremonies, Yoga, Permaculture Knowledge or as well other Treatments there is every few weeks some workshop going on, check for programme in advance writing them over their facebook. If you look for a great place to relax this is it!
For those looking for a quiet place in the mountains with lovely people and great food, no doubt this is the place to go. Spend a week there and loved every moment of it. The rooms are great and the views include mountains with snow on one side and the ocean on the other.
A hidden gem high in the mountains. Fantastic views, great food, nice vibes. It is obvious the owners are putting their hearts and souls into this beautiful place. Cute cabanas, pure water, library and musical instruments available. Excellent solar hot water showers. Your stay here will benefit future guests as the owners have wonderful plans to enhance their property. Tip: The Lazy Cat restaurant in Minca will store your excess baggage, take only what you need for the motorcycle trip up and enjoy the amazing walk when you return (stop at the waterfall for a swim). Highly recommended!
What a unique and special place!! We had planned to stay just two nights and we ended up staying five. Such a relaxing and tranquil place and is the perfect location to really unwind. The owners and volunteers are great and gave us such a lovely welcome and really made us feel like it was our home too. The view is exceptional as the photographs will show. Morning yoga was fantastic, led by the lovely Alison and was a great way to start the day. Every single meal was really delicious and was always very generous in size. We did some beautiful hikes in the surrounding area which were very enjoyable and so serene. Even the moto drivers which Mateus kindly called, made our descent back down to the pueblo (with our huge Mochillas) very stress free, by driving slowly and carefully and was such a lovely way to finish a perfect stay. Special thanks to Max, Mateus, Jason and Alison! Hope to see you all again 😀from the Irish 🍀 …
We really enjoyed our stay at this quiet, magical and very friendly place! The volunteer staff was super nice, the cabanas were simply spectacular, watching sunset with all the people working there and talking about traveling, volunteering and life was amazing! Cats were all so sweet too. Also the sunrise was magical! These people really saved us from a very strange experience with another hostel nearby. This is a very cool and relaxed place with great atmosphere! Highly recommended!
