We loved our all too short stay at Waipoua Lodge. Fran and Ian were perfect hosts and dinner was great. A great selection of wines and very good value. We hope to return another time when the weather is better. However the pouring rain did not spoil the visit.

From the moment we arrived, Ian and Fran looked after us in the most perfect way after we had a very long day travelling from overseas! They have so much intuition and read their guests very well so you feel so cared for but never smothered. Fran's food is just amazing and a big highlight of the stay - we... More

This was our second visit to Waipoua Lodge, this time we had family with us. Although the venue is reasonably isolated, the benefits are peace and quiet. Ian was a gracious host, and provide a wide range of single malts for us to taste. Fran's cooking was one of the reasons we were happy to return. On this occasion we... More

This was the highlight of our trip to New Zealand. Our visit to Waipaou lodge was so memorable, thanks to the incredible hospitality of Ian and Fran. The food was five star and the accommodations so comfortable and luxurious. A wonderful way to end our month away.

The hosts and hospitality at Waipoua Lodge was outstanding. Thank you so much for spoiling us Fran and Ian. Outstanding food, conversation and the place itself is quiet and set in a stunning piece of our land Aotearoa. I would recommend this place to anyone as a holiday destination or a quiet getaway. We stayed at the lodge for one night as a base to visit Waipoua Forest. We found excellent facilities and friendly, helpful hosts. The evening meal (together with informal cooking lesson) was absolutely top notch. We recommend this first rate lodge.

The experience in booking a stay at a luxury accommodation begins with the reviews, website, ease of booking, and communication with the hosts. Waipoua Lodge exceeded our expectations in each of these areas- great reviews, well-designed website, ease in booking, and friendly welcoming emails from our hosts, Fran and Ian. We booked a room, cooking class with Fran, and a... More

Experience true New Zealand hospitality. Waipoua Lodge - creating a memorable guest experience. Waipoua Lodge is a little piece of luxury etched in history where you can experience true New Zealand hospitality whilst travelling Northland’s Twin Coast Discovery Highway. This circular route provides two diverse coastlines which offer in just one region, so much of the natural environment which is our beautiful Aotea-roa (land of the long white cloud). With the mixture of yesteryear in the old Kauri lodge, home to artefacts from the Kauri logging era, to the four acres of garden and tranquil bush walk surrounded by pasture and forest … you will be inspired and all within an easy 3 hour drive from Auckland. Host Ian offers personalised guided tours of the local area and hands on talks and demonstrations of the history of the ancient kauri and the early pioneers and gumdiggers. If you have a love of food, cooking and entertaining, then dining at Waipoua Lodge will be an experience to remember.
