The hosts and hospitality at Waipoua Lodge was outstanding. Thank you so much for spoiling us Fran and Ian. Outstanding food, conversation and the place itself is quiet and set in a stunning piece of our land Aotearoa. I would recommend this place to anyone as a holiday destination or a quiet getaway. I think the most wonderful thing about... More

We are delighted that you enjoyed your birthday break at the lodge and felt totally at home. Meeting and hosting our guests is very special, but when we can also celebrate a special occasion, that makes it even more of a pleasure. Kindest regards Fran & Ian More

We stayed at the lodge for one night as a base to visit Waipoua Forest. We found excellent facilities and friendly, helpful hosts. The evening meal (together with informal cooking lesson) was absolutely top notch. We recommend this first rate lodge.

The experience in booking a stay at a luxury accommodation begins with the reviews, website, ease of booking, and communication with the hosts. Waipoua Lodge exceeded our expectations in each of these areas- great reviews, well-designed website, ease in booking, and friendly welcoming emails from our hosts, Fran and Ian. We booked a room, cooking class with Fran, and a... More

We have just enjoyed a wonderful couple of nights at Waipoua Lodge. We immediately felt at "home" when Fran and Ian opened the door to their beautiful lodge, and welcomed us inside. The lodge has all the trappings of a luxury lodge, gorgeous linens and facilities..but the very best thing is Frans wonderful cooking. The food was fantastic! Both Fran... More

We enjoyed our stay at Waipoua lodge and we recommend it to all of our friends as a great place to stay. Due to other events delaying us we arrived at about 8.00pm just in time for dinner. We would recommend arriving mid afternoon to take full advantage of the facilities the lodge offers. Our rooms were luxurious, and clean.... More

Thank you for your great review and it was fun hosting you all at the lodge despite your slightly late arrival from Kaitaia, crossing the Hokianga Harbour on the Rawene ferry! Do hope that the cars all made it back to Auckland in time for the flights across the ditch! Kindest regards Fran & Ian More

This was our last place to stay in New Zealand after five weeks. Waipoua lodge was the best by far. Fran and Ian are the most wonderful of hosts, This place should be top of your list if your looking for the best. The only regret you will have is not staying long enough! Food, rooms and hosts 10/10.

Experience true New Zealand hospitality. Waipoua Lodge - creating a memorable guest experience. Waipoua Lodge is a little piece of luxury etched in history where you can experience true New Zealand hospitality whilst travelling Northland’s Twin Coast Discovery Highway. This circular route provides two diverse coastlines which offer in just one region, so much of the natural environment which is our beautiful Aotea-roa (land of the long white cloud). Nestled on a ridge overlooking the vast Waipoua Forest – home of the ancient and iconic kauri trees, Waipoua Lodge offers relaxing, warm and authentic New Zealand hospitality and the perfect location from which to explore the beautiful and often undiscovered Kauri Coast - Pathway to Northland and Naturally New Zealand’s Ancient, Eco & Cultural Destination. With the mixture of yesteryear in the old Kauri lodge, home to artefacts from the Kauri logging era, to the four acres of garden and tranquil bush walk surrounded by pasture and forest … you will be inspired and all within an easy 3 hour drive from Auckland. Host Ian offers personalised guided tours of the local area and hands on talks and demonstrations of the history of the ancient kauri and the early pioneers and gumdiggers. If you have a love of food, cooking and entertaining, then dining at Waipoua Lodge will be an experience to remember.
