this is a small hotel in the northern part of the province of Groningen. It has only 16 rooms. The hotel offered an excellent breakfast. All was clean. our room was rather large. We stayed a day longer than planned and in this way we could have a very good dinner. parkingspace, television, internet all was there.

Het Klooster is a little gem of a hotel. Rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, furnished in a genuine 1950s style. The hotel has a charm all its own -- you will never think you are in a chain. Breakfast is huge and delicious. The garden is quite pleasant if it is sunny. And, if you stay, you must find a... More

I stayed here, with my mother, while we were house hunting in the area. I think we were the only two in the hotel, although it clearly gets busy in summer. The hotel is an ex convent and quite pretty from the outside. The owner came to meet us, showed us to our rooms, explained everything to us and made... More

The past year has been very difficult as Robert has been taken away from us by a relentless disease. After a few weeks of closure, Jolanda reopened the hotel in it's traditional, heartwarming cloister-like style. We were here for 3 days and enjoyed the terrace giving out on the beautiful garden, sipping from the Gerardus beer that once must have... More

This time, we returned for lunch. We came at short notice; nevertheless, Jolanda prepared an excellent lunch and Robert hosted us very well. Like the dinner, the lunch was based on yesteryear's recipe's and was very well received by our group. My 2 reviews implicate that you may trust yourself to Het Klooster's care all day round!

Kloosterburen, a village situated in the beautiful North-East of the Dutch Groningen province, traditionally had a majority of Roman-Catholic inhabitants. That explains why the village had a cloister, which is now used as hotel and small conference center. The center has a beautiful garden, and the rooms are comfortable. The cook has a unique style of preparing dishes which, in... More
