Located on the shore of the beautiful Klarälven, Byns camping is well equipped for camper vans and caravans. We have 2 and 4 beds cabins with river views. We also have a long history in canoe hire and multi day canoe holidays.

Detailed Reviews
We spent a month travelling across Sweden with our Caravan. Both ourselves and our children (7 and 9) rated Byns Camping as our best campsite - and the cheapest!!. Colin and Alison are British and made our stay feel like we were the only guests there. Our pitch was next to the river, we fished and canoed. The facilities were VERY clean. The perfect campsite to get away from it all for a few days.

Looking for something to do? Then you've got to try the canoeing. Beautiful surroundings. Different tours available. We went for the one day tour. Tim who's English and runs the place with his family took us up stream where we off loaded the gear to begin the very pleasant and very relaxed canoe trip back to the camp site. Plenty of places to stop and have a picnic. Although the river is quite wide it is surprisingly shallow. Very few people on the river with the occasional river raft being seen leisurely drifting down the river. Fantastic experience. Well worth it. Word of advice tho take sun screen and mosquito repellent. Great time. Thanks again Tim.

Me and a friend (both from Holland) went here for two canoe-trips. The father and son arranged the equipment and transport for both tours, and on our resting day we could use two nice bikes for free to visit the Brattfallen. The kitchen, toilets and showers were clean and free to use. We really enjoyed our stay and would defenitely recommend this place!

Byns Camping is situated on the shore of Klarälven, with superb views of the river and the bridge to Ekshärad. You can even take a swim in the river directly from the campsite. The campsite is in great shape, with all you need in terms of clean and well kept kitchen and bathroom facilities, fireplaces, cabins and tenting options, coffee room, and a small shop. All in a very relaxed atmosphere. Our family of four stayed in a cabin, Älgen, with two bunk beds, perfect for our needs and with a wonderful small porch overlooking Klarälven. Byns also has great canoes for rental. We booked a four day package, complete with transport, all equipment needed for camping in the wild, and great advice from the owners, Tim and Per, before we set out. Great family time and memorable adventures in the wild, all at an extremely reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Byns camping arranged a canoe camping trip for me.
They are polite, professional and reasonable people.
The Varmlands area has some beautiful scenery.
I have only good things to say about my trip.

After much researching and planning we booked a 4-day wild camping and canoeing trip on the Svartälven river with Byns camping.
They were the most competitive on price, and quick to reply to emails, and more than happy to answer all our questions.
We arrived by rental car after a long drive from Stockholm, and were made to feel very welcome while we got our stuff together for the trip.
Everything was explained to us very well, how to use the equipment and the do's and don'ts of wild camping in Sweden.
When we were on last day we called ahead to Byns to let them know our pick-up location, they were very accommodating and really went the extra mile to cater to us to make our journey back to Stockholm as smooth as possible.
The trip itself will be very hard for us to top, stunning scenery and a great experience, we barely saw another person in 4 days, and found our own little island on our last day and set up camp there for the night, absolutely amazing!
Thanks to Per and his father for organising everything for us, couldn't recommend highly enough!

In July, we went on a 4-day canoe trip, something we wanted to do for many years,
so finally, this was the time.
And it didn’t disappoint us, not at all! I’ve seen and done so many thing around the world, but this was one of the greatest things I’ve done so far. Truly amazing.
We’ve booked our canoe with Byns camping, a small, cozy, clean and calm camping, near a river.
It’s located in Ekshärad, Varmland. Approximately between Oslo and Stockholm, so also a perfect stopover. The service is nice and personal, very kind people, a father with his 2 sons.
You can reach this camping on every way you want. We’ landed by airplane on Stockholm and rented a car, because we’ve did a few other things after the trip. Oslo is even closer than Stockholm. By bus or train is possible too.
You can also rent a cabin if you don’t want to camp. There’s a kitchen, washing machine, showers and much more available for all guests.
They sell different canoe trips on different rivers, suitable for small children with parents to people that wants to be into the wild for a few days, off course, that’s the one we chose The Svartälven river.
What’s so cool about this trip? Well, you can do it in 4 to 7 days, we’ve booked 4. So, you are free to do how long you want.
The variety is cool, from wide to small and winding rivers, big and small lakes with islands, swamps,…
You even get a transport wheel because there are a few land transports needed, fun guaranteed!
You’ve got big chance of seeing wildlife along the route. We’ve seen few road deer, lots of birds, tracks of beaver,…
You can stop wherever you want to spend the night. There are shelters along the way but probably you won’t be alone there, so we stayed where it was quiet, and with an amazing view.
Once we’ve had our private island for 1 night. Every evening a campfire, fresh fish and quietness…
Oh I miss this
You can choose your own endpoint, there are 13 stops where you can be picked up, you just have to let them know 1 day in advance.
You’ll get waterproof backpacks to put all your stuff in (food, camping gear, clothes,…), very useful.
All of this makes it so cool and interesting.
They also own a moose farm. You learn a lot about moose, interesting facts you’ll never heard of.
They do it on a pleasant way, excellent for children, but to be honest, also for adults
You can see them from close. You even can feel and feed them.
Standing near the king of the forest is a ‘big thing’. This is not a zoo to be clear…
It’s a 10-minute drive from the camping. Check it out, the 2-hour tour is worth it.

My partner and I were given a splendid and friendly service at Byns Camping Ekshärad in Sweden. We really felt welcome and well taken care of by the owners Alison and Collin. The view over the river was astonishingly beautiful. In fact the whole area surrounding the camping site is extremely beautiful and worth exploiting. We lived in one of the cottages, which was nice, comfortable, and clean. The toilet and shower fascilities were excellent as well. All this comfort at a very low price! :-). Byns Camping Ekshärad is highly recommendable. We will definitely be back!
