Wanted a couple of days away visiting a friend. The convent looks lovely, have great staff and food but totally got the basics terribly wrong. I wanted a comfortable room with no hassle. Had to moved from one room, smell from bathroom unbearable and they “thought that the problem was solved”. Moved to another room, which was not clean so moved me to a 3rd room. Grand, problem solved. No, no wardrobe or anywhere to hang my clothes. I got over that. Next morning, turned on the shower, freezing cold. I had to go to my mates house for a warm shower. Lanesborough has only 1 B&B and such a shame they cannot get the basics right. Not a lot to ask for a clean room, preferably with a small wardrobe and a hot shower. Please invest a few euros in showers!!! They failed badly!!

My boyfriend and I spent 2 days in The Convent Guesthouse and my only regret is that we didn’t book for a longer time. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and catered to all our needs and more. The service was just incredible. They advised on things to do around the area and were always obliging to our needs. They are not only providing an amazing service but are fantastic people too! The restaurant at the guesthouse is called the Rendezvous and has food to die for! We enjoyed the best steak I’ve ever had! As well as the buffalo wings and burgers! Absolutely delicious! They could give Jamie Oliver a run for his money! The area is perfect as it is less than a 10 min walk to the lake which is perfect for swimming or renting kayaks, going on boat rides, etc. The guesthouse is also near a SuperValu, a pharmacy, pubs and some of other restaurants which don’t compare to the one at the guesthouse. We would definitely come back again! All in all, it was fabulous!

I stayed in the Convent Guest House last week and had an amazing time! The rooms were very comfortable and had beautiful crisp white sheets. We ate in the restaurant downstairs "Rendezvouz", the food and staff were amazing! The waitresses were very kind and welcoming, they tended to my every need. I had such a good sleep in the extremely comfortable bed. I recommend all to stay here, its a beautiful place full of beautiful people.

This is a nice place and we can recommend it. The reception was great, the room was fine, apart from the fact that the bed was a bit small, and the breakfast wonderful. We did have trouble opening the gate by using our phone simply because, and unknown to us, the phone had lost power, so we had to ring to get in during the night. The town itself is a bit flat and needs a couple of good restaurants to kick it along. We walked from one pub to another (3) only to find they all were a bit ordinary and the only restaurant 'across the river' was booked out, so we settled with Pings Take Away Chinese. It is only after you eat good Chinese food that you can offer comment on these small food outlets. Yes, we would stay there again. The host was very amenable.

This B&B has the unique claim of being a convent not so long ago. The rooms are well appointed with tasteful decore and a bright breakfast room, which has a good range on offer. As this is a family run business, it is friendly, welcoming and well kept. It is located in the beautiful village of Lanesborough right on the banks of the Shannon and Loughree. And is only mere seconds walk to the water front with its fishing/angling and marina.

7 of us have just stayed in the convent guest house lanesborough on a 5 day fishing holiday from halifax .england . It was our 2nd stay there and hopefully there will be many more...your hosts are a lovely family who look after your every needs. Nothing is to much trouble and service is always with a smile. Rooms are value for money clean and decent size with everything you need. The breakfast is probably the best you will encounter in any guest house either side of the sea for the money..for the fishermen or would be sailers there is a large boat available owned by the convent bb to explore loch ree or river shannon ... thank you again for makeing the 7 of us enjoy a home from home holiday again. See you next year . Kevin malone .halifax

This bed and breakfast is perfect! The owners are wonderful people who are truly committed to giving you the best experience possible. Ask and you shall receive is what we experienced. The breakfast choices while we were there were much more than expected. Even though it was not on the menu for the day it was made hot and fresh with a smile! The rooms are clean and comfortable. The beds are welcoming after a long day of touring. And if your looking for a HOT shower with wonderful water pressure, look no further! This is the place for you!, The common areas were spacious and well appointed. There home is your home. Kick off your shoes, make your self comfortable and here is a key to the front door if your going to be back a little late. The property is close to the river for fishing. Walk to church(but if your used to American Catholic Mass, don't be late! It's only 25 minutes long in Ireland) the local market is across the street and a short walk will bring you to the pubs and dinner. I miss this place already. I can't wait to return!

We stayed in The Convent Guesthouse and couldn't recommend it more, Claire and Chris went above and beyond for us, They catered for my 10 month old by having a travel cot set up for her in our spacious family room. We had a massive ensuite wet room with a power shower too. Plenty of towels, Tea and Coffee etc. Claire had everything you could want at the breakfast bar from porridge to hot chocolate and a big breakfast menu to order from. Lake is just a few minutes walk and a few pubs and restaurants to choose from too! Best hosts, In a lovely setting. Can't wait to go back.
