Seven kilometers away of the beautiful beach of Episkopi you will found Arcus Suites, a whole neighbourhood of old Venetian stone mansions of the 14th and 15th century, located in the heart of Argyroupolis, Lappa in Rethimno. The entire complex of buildings was declared in 2005 by the Ministry of Culture as «Preservable archaeological monument». Since then the mansions and the environment space renovated with respect for the style and architecture and created 5 independent suites. All the suites retain their architectural features and fascinating atmosphere of the Venetian people, their predecessors. Ambitious dome, stone arches, burrstones, axes, arches, stone fireplaces, wooden floors and ceilings, interior gardens, cobblestone courtyards emphasize and highlight the charm. The quality of the restoration of this magnificent old house and the beauty of the well maintained garden seduced us during our stay in April 2022. The place is very calm and relaxing. The presence of lemon trees allowed us to make our own juice in the morning. The house is ideally located in the small village of Argiroupolis, in the center of Western Crete, which allows you to explore the surroundings in all directions. The beautiful little town of Rethymon, on the north coast, is 30 minutes away and Plakias, on the south coast, is 35 minutes away. Chania is also only 55 minutes away. The only things that for us were not up to the standard of what one would expect from a "luxury suite" were the lack of servery equipment, the very limited bath amenities, the comfort of the bedding and the messiness, outside, near the suite. This was not catastrophic and can easily be improved. We thank our host, Yiannis Deligiannakis, for his thoughtfulness and availability.

We loved staying at Arcus Suites. Located in a quaint mountain town, near the top, I felt this was one of our highlights in Crete. The owner/ manager was a wonderful sweet gentleman and the breakfast was amazing. I look forward to coming back here again.

At Arcus Suites Giannis and his team were extremely helpful and accommodating. In this Covid situation they were very thorough and have great systems in place which was very reassuring. The suite was fabulous and it is a delightful conversation/reworking of an ancient Venetian house with a beautiful secluded garden. Everyone in the village were extremely friendly and welcoming. It was very special to just come across ancient Lappa remains popping in and out of the village as we explored the steps and lanes.

Very Nice place but we had a bad surprise! The suite with two rooms we reserved 6 months ago was overbooked! The manager gave us another suite...with one only room! My daugther (16y) had to sleep on the sofa and my son (14y) on a small bed! For the second night, after a long discussion with the manager, we finally received the suite with two rooms. Very disappointing for a five stars accommodation!

We always head to beach suburbs and avoid the mountains- well what a mistake that is!! This part of Crete is so beautiful even in winter. The accomodation is a bit hard to find and parking seems hard but not really in the end as the square is 100m away. The fireplace was amazing and the sitting area excellent. Really comfortable stay. Great view. Ok bathroom. Definitely a place to visit in summer as close to nature, easy access to Kournas lake, beaches and of course lovely and sophisticated Rethymno. Breakfast abundant and traditional. Owners lovely!
