Detailed Reviews
Overall the facilities and accommodations were acceptable but not at the level I expected for the price of stay. I found mattresses to be very cheap and not very comfortable, there were several additional fees over and above the already expensive nightly rate for room, $30 a day to use pool, kayaks, paddle boards and other non motorized sports. At almost $500 a night for a cabin I did not expect to have to pay for wifi, each device would have cost $10 per day. The place was clean, well maintained and we had a great time at the wedding we attended.

This resort is beautiful and we had such a relaxing time. We had our two Chihuahuas with us and they enjoyed it too. It's right on the lake and has many amenities. The staff were always very helpful and friendly. We booked it with another couple, who had to decline at the last minute. This turned out to be okay because the condo really wasn't big enough for four adults; it really suits two, and maybe a couple of children. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, the sofa, not as much. The air conditioner worked well. It was nice to have a patio that looked out at the lake, just 10 feet away or so. I will tell those interested to make sure you bring towels because there aren't any. We missed that in the small print and had to go buy some. I'd bring your own tea towels too. This kitchen had everything we needed to cook so just bring your own food because the closest place to get real groceries is Peterborough or Cobourg, about 25-30 minutes away. Another thing we would have liked was a lamp or two. Every room has overhead lights but no lamps. If you get a two bedroom condo, get a lower one. There are mature trees that seemed to block some of the upper condos. Also, just a heads-up, the shower is tiny!

At arrival, another charge for parking a second vehicle, though I had already added that to my reservation.
They has told me that morning that towel and linens were provided, however, no towels. We did get then at the main building.
They list DVDs for rainy days, but again had to go to the main building to get it.
Restaurant was closed Monday and Tuesday which was disappointing that we had to go get more food, an hour drive. We ate at the restaurant on Wednesday, food was great. They could be making some much if it was open. It only opens at 4pm.
Snack bar by the pool was closed the entire time we were there. Really, in the middle of summer?
Store is very well equipped for anything you may have forgotten.
Boat rentals are super expensive, twice the price of other places I've visited. Disappointing.
Check out time was an hour earlier than I had been told in an email as well.
They really need to update the web site to all this so people aren't disappointed.
Cabin and site were clean, modern and very enjoyable.
Beach is very small and only a few chairs are provided.
We were on the marina 2 side, so much algae in the water, even the dogs couldn't go in. We did drive to the other side of the park to let them swim, however that is very rocky and slimy, so we couldn't get in there either.
Price was a little high for what you get.
Would return for a fun girl's weekend.

We had a great weeks stay in a waterfront cottage. The view of the cottage alone was well worth the money! The cottage was dated but fit our needs.
Restaurant had the best wings and fries! Food was quick and staff were very pleasant.
Sunday Farmers market is such a great touch to our stay! Plenty of great vendors! We were able to get some tasty baked goods and fresh produce!
All of the staff were pleasant and helpful at the office, store and restaurant.
Only complaint was we had a power outage which caused us to be without water. It continued after hours with no way of contacting resort staff. I contacted the security company who also was unable to get in touch with resort staff. Strongly encourage looking into an after hours number for cottage and resort problems.
The beach was great and our kids were never short of things to do from swimming, fishing, basketball, shooting on the hockey net, tennis, biking and kayaking.
Thank you Golden Beach Resort for an amazing family vacation.

First time staying in the RV sites. Will not be going back. The site was a 50amp only , most campgrounds have a 30 and 50 on the post. They tried to sell me a $70 converter that is less than $30 in a store. Our sites fire ring was missing, grass was not cut which matters for bug/tick season. We had no water sunday afternoon , incredibly unsafe for children, seniors or in the event of a fire on site. The maintenance crew drove through the sites at top speed on their golf carts - beyond irresponsible with children all around. No speed limits posted on any of the roads which makes for speedy drivers which is a HUGE NO NO . The gate card they give you does not work to come in and out. The garbage bins are very far and should be driven to. The front office only opens at 9am , most campers are up and on the road by then. The icing on the cake was sending the general manager a very kind email explaining the issues and offering some suggestions and NO REPLY ! Cant leave without one good comment : Great beach on rice lake!

We just completed a wedding weekend and I cannot comment enough about the amazing staff under the employ of this resort. Every single staff member was incredibly attentive to our needs, even those that were ever changing. If anyone wishes to hold a wedding or major event at this resort - DO NOT HESITATE - Cindy, the events manager is TOP-NOTCH and the staff will ensure your experience is incredibly memorable.

This Restaurant definitely needs a chance to be found
So people from Northumberland county- Cobourg
Have a place to go summer months.
We have a new chef who is spectacular. We are huge foodies. His burgers, fish tacos, brisket sandwich is without a doubt my new all time favourites.
The service is great. The patio is great. They have live outdoor music. The resort itself is great.
No restaurant, I’m out

Booked a trailer site back in May 2022 for the September long weekend before school. Was told when we booked we were in a big open field at the back. We initially wanted a pull through site and none were available but we were told to check back closer to as people may cancel. So the week before we called to see if any were available and told we were on the site with the "award" tree. We questioned the staff as no one ever mentioned a tree. We get a call back 2 days before reservation to be told the tree was no longer a issue. When arrived we had a fair sized tree stump right over our awning that had been cut down. So that essentially worked out. Then we go to rent a Boonton boat on Saturday. Do all the check for the paperwork and the attendant starts the boat. What a joke! Its firing on 1 cylinder and the employee proceeds to inform me all there boats are junk. Obviously i refuse this boat we go to another one that seems to be functioning. Keep in mind the rental is $269 for the day. We are out enjoying the fishing and we start to head back to the resort and the boat begins acting up. My husband is an experienced boater and luckily knew to prime the gas. Got us a bit closer to the resort. But then the boat motor dies completely! So we call the resort and it take them 1 hour to send us help. Once back to shore, the employee on the gas dock apologizes and informs us that this was the last remaining boat that was not broken and that there boats are garbage. But then we are told its a $100 rescue fee that we owe. Needless to say that got waived. But we were looking for the manager for 2 days and he was never available.

+1
Stayed here for a couple of nights during our 18 day holiday to Ontario from Scotland.
Stayed in cottage 18 Sunset Bay Road which was a great size with excellent facilities. Good restaurant/bar, outdoor pool and water sports as well as other activities to keep everyone happy.
Only negatives were the car park outside front of cottage spoiling the views and late night noise / music from boats.
Great place to chill out on road trip between Ottawa & Toronto.

Called to make reservations for 15 seniors at boathouse for dinner. Was told reservations could not be made for that number given staffing shortages. Asked what would happen if the seniors attended on their own without reservations and was told they would be turned away.
